You can loop recorded tuition lessons on YouTube Live using OBS Studio on a laptop: add a local video as a Media Source, enable Loop, and connect OBS to a YouTube encoder stream with its stream URL and key. For a sequence of lessons, use OBS’s VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist. This setup works only while the laptop, OBS, power, and internet connection remain available; it is not an unattended cloud stream.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel eligible for live streaming. YouTube says the channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before your planned broadcast. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance has the current requirements.
- OBS Studio installed on a laptop, with the tuition recording files available locally.
- A stable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the stream bitrate, plus continuous power for the laptop.
- Permission to stream the lesson and all included material, including slides, music, clips, and images.
The documented OBS controls establish how to loop media, but do not set one universal resolution, bitrate, or laptop specification. Choose output settings your laptop can encode and your measured upload connection can sustain, then test before relying on the broadcast.
Set up a looping lesson in OBS
1. Make sure YouTube Live is enabled
In YouTube Studio, confirm the channel can livestream. Complete verification and enable live streaming ahead of time: a first activation may take up to 24 hours. Check that no active restriction is preventing live streaming.
2. Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.
- Create or schedule a live stream using an encoder.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that broadcast. In OBS, paste them into the stream settings. Treat the key like a password: do not share it in a screenshot, public chat, or document. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before broadcasting.

3. Add one recorded lesson and enable looping
- In OBS, select the scene you want to use and add a Media Source.
- Choose the local lesson video file.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties so the video restarts when it reaches the end.
- Arrange the video in the preview. Add a title card or schedule only if useful; keep any text large enough to read on a phone.

4. Use a playlist for multiple lessons
To run lessons in sequence, add a VLC Video source and create a playlist of local files, then enable Loop Playlist. OBS notes that VLC must be installed for this source type to appear. Check the order and playback of every file before going live so a missing or incompatible file does not leave a blank section.
5. Connect OBS to the YouTube stream
Open OBS stream settings, select the YouTube service if available, and enter the stream URL and key copied from YouTube Studio. Start streaming from OBS, then wait for the encoder preview and stream health information in YouTube’s Live Control Room before starting the public broadcast. Keep the stream key private.

Choose settings and test the stream
Match output to the laptop and connection
Use your internet connection’s upload capacity, not its download speed, to judge whether it can sustain the broadcast. YouTube recommends keeping 20% upload headroom above the total stream bitrate. For example, if your chosen stream bitrate is 5 Mbps, the available sustained upload should exceed 6 Mbps; measure under realistic household conditions rather than relying on a plan’s advertised maximum.

Start with conservative settings the laptop can handle without dropped frames, and avoid selecting a higher output quality than the upload link can maintain. Watch OBS’s dropped-frame and encoding indicators during a test; if they rise, reduce output demands or address the local network or laptop load.
Run a private or unlisted test
- Use a test broadcast with visibility set appropriately for your needs.
- Check the preview in Live Control Room and open the watch page as a viewer.
- Listen for clear lesson audio and confirm that the picture is not cropped, frozen, or blank.
- Monitor the stream after it starts; a successful preview at the beginning does not guarantee an uninterrupted all-day broadcast.
YouTube recommends testing and monitoring the stream. Its streaming tips also warn that network disruptions can interrupt delivery.

Plan for an actual 24/7 run
Keep the laptop and connection running
OBS must continue playing the file and sending the encoded stream. Disable sleep or hibernation for the planned run, keep the laptop connected to power, and make sure the network remains connected. A power cut, laptop shutdown, software crash, or internet outage can interrupt the broadcast. The cited guidance does not establish India-wide uptime figures or a universally required backup-power or broadband product, so test your own power and upload conditions.
Do not assume a 24/7 stream will have a complete replay
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If the complete replay matters, schedule sessions shorter than 12 hours and keep a local recording as a separate backup. Check rights for every part of the lesson
You are responsible for having the rights needed to stream the live content, including music licensing rights and permission for third-party material. A recording made for your class is not automatically cleared for a public livestream. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions and confirm permission for the teaching, slides, background music, images, and any embedded clips before broadcasting.

Costs and the laptop-versus-cloud choice
The OBS method uses your existing laptop and internet connection, but it depends on them for playback and encoding throughout the broadcast. It gives you direct control over local lesson files and scenes. A cloud prerecorded-video service moves playback and streaming off the laptop; YouTube’s encoder guidance identifies cloud services as an option for continuous prerecorded video. Compare an individual service’s availability and terms for your circumstances rather than assuming India-specific suitability or cost.

Monetization is separate from keeping the stream live
YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as possible live-stream monetization features, subject to channel eligibility and settings.
