You can run a prerecorded yoga video as a continuous YouTube Live broadcast by hosting an encoder on an India-region virtual private server (VPS), then sending its output to YouTube over RTMPS. The VPS must sustain the chosen video bitrate around the clock, and your channel must be eligible to livestream. There is no verified VPS provider or plan here to call “low-cost”: compare current prices, outbound-transfer limits, sustained bandwidth, CPU capacity, and continuous-use terms before buying.

What the VPS does—and what you need first

The VPS runs the encoder that sends your yoga program to YouTube. YouTube supplies the destination server URL and stream key through YouTube Studio; the VPS does not make a stream affordable or reliable merely because it is located in India. Its network must sustain the stream’s total bitrate, and its CPU must be able to encode the video in real time if the video needs encoding.

  • A YouTube channel eligible for live streaming. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days; it also sets a minimum age of 16 for live streaming.
  • A prerecorded yoga video or another feed that your encoder can send continuously. Use footage, voice, and music for which you have the necessary rights.
  • An India-region VPS whose provider permits continuous streaming and whose sustained outbound capacity and monthly transfer allowance cover your chosen bitrate.
  • An encoder configured with the YouTube-generated server URL and stream key.

This approach is for sending an encoded or prerecorded feed, not for broadcasting live camera footage from the VPS itself.

Choose the VPS against the stream you actually plan to send

Start with the resolution and frame rate you want, then check that a candidate VPS can sustain the resulting outbound bitrate. YouTube’s published recommendations are encoder settings, not evidence that any particular VPS or route can maintain them.

Output YouTube-recommended video bitrate What to check on the VPS
240p–720p at 30 fps 4 Mbps At least enough sustained upload capacity for the total stream bitrate, with headroom; also confirm transfer limits and overage charges.
720p at 60 fps 6 Mbps Confirm the VPS can sustain the output continuously, not just reach an advertised port speed in a brief test.
1080p at 30 fps 10 Mbps Check sustained outbound capacity and monthly transfer allowance at this bitrate, plus any egress charges.

The figures above are YouTube’s recommended video bitrates for the listed output modes, not guaranteed VPS performance. Audio adds to the total bitrate. YouTube recommends leaving 20% bandwidth headroom above the total bitrate being sent; test the actual route and stream rather than treating a provider’s headline speed as proof. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance and its streaming tips.

When comparing India-region VPS offers, verify all of the following with the provider before paying:

  • The total recurring cost, including transfer, storage, and any charges beyond the advertised VPS price.

The National Informatics Centre states that its own webcast service requires 2–4 Mbps of dedicated bandwidth per stream; that is specific to the NIC service, not a YouTube bitrate requirement or a substitute for testing your VPS. See NIC’s webcast services page.

Configure the encoder and connect it to YouTube

  1. Confirm channel eligibility. Check YouTube’s live-streaming requirements before building the VPS setup. A newly enabled or restricted channel may not be ready to go live.
  2. Create or schedule the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and select the encoder workflow. Follow YouTube’s Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder instructions to obtain the stream’s server URL and stream key.
  3. Install and configure an encoder on the VPS. FFmpeg is one possible software encoder for a file-based feed. Configure the encoder to play or send your selected program and use the video, audio, bitrate, and keyframe settings appropriate to your intended output. A complete FFmpeg command depends on the source and VPS setup; no specific command or service configuration is established here, so validate your encoder configuration rather than assuming a copied command is production-ready.
  4. Use YouTube’s recommended encoding settings as your starting point. YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a keyframe interval of two seconds and no more than four seconds, and supports H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 video with AAC or MP3 audio for RTMP/RTMPS. For resolution-specific video bitrates, use the table above and consult YouTube’s current encoder settings page.
  5. Set up secure ingest. Prefer RTMPS. Google’s RTMPS ingestion documentation specifies RTMP over SSL and requires the rtmps protocol, a valid YouTube ingestion endpoint and path, port 443, and the correct server hostname for SNI. Use the server URL YouTube gives your stream; do not substitute an endpoint or path based on guesswork.
  6. Enter the stream key carefully. Add the key from the YouTube encoder setup to your encoder’s destination settings. Treat it like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to that stream. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
  7. Test before relying on the feed. Send representative yoga footage and audio, check the Live Control Room preview and stream health, and monitor the broadcast. Confirm the VPS has 20% headroom above the total sent bitrate as recommended in YouTube’s streaming tips. A short successful test does not establish that the provider can sustain the stream indefinitely.

Plan continuity and recording separately

A continuous stream needs monitoring and a recovery plan. Confirm what restart or monitoring facilities your VPS provider supplies, and decide how you will detect a stopped encoder or a dropped YouTube connection. YouTube’s ingest guidance explains the connection requirements, but it does not certify a VPS provider’s ability to run a 24/7 broadcast.

Do not count on YouTube to preserve a complete archive of an always-on program. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If preserving the full yoga program matters, arrange a separate recording and enough storage; see YouTube’s archive guidance.

Rights and YouTube live-stream rules

YouTube’s livestream terms require you to have the rights needed to use the live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights. The requirement applies to yoga footage, spoken material, music, and any other content in the feed. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions and clear the rights before broadcasting.

YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party material. Its live-stream copyright guidance says a placeholder may replace a stream, and the feed may be interrupted or terminated if the matched material remains or a relevant strike applies. If a rights holder has licensed material and requires Content ID allowlisting, follow that holder’s instructions; having a copy of a track or video does not by itself establish permission to livestream it.

Troubleshoot common failures

Symptom What to check
YouTube does not receive the stream Confirm that the encoder uses the server URL and stream key generated for the intended YouTube stream. Check the RTMPS protocol, endpoint, path, port 443, and hostname/SNI requirements in Google’s RTMPS documentation.
The preview buffers or stream health is poor Compare the actual total bitrate with the VPS’s sustained outbound capacity and available monthly transfer. Leave YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, then test the route using representative footage and monitor Live Control Room stream health.
The VPS cannot keep up with encoding Check CPU use and confirm whether the encoder must transcode or resize the source. A VPS must have adequate CPU capacity for real-time encoding; provider port speed alone does not answer that question.
The broadcast is interrupted after content matching Review YouTube’s copyright notice and the rights for every matched element. Remove material you are not authorized to use; where applicable, ask the rights holder about its Content ID allowlisting process.
The YouTube archive is incomplete or missing Check the stream duration. YouTube warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured; use a separate recording when a complete archive is important.
The stream stops and does not resume Check whether the encoder process is still running, whether the VPS has restarted or lost network connectivity, and whether YouTube is still receiving the stream. Verify what monitoring and restart facilities your chosen VPS actually provides rather than assuming they are included.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you do not want to maintain an encoder on a VPS, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload the yoga recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; streams play as uploaded, at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot. StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the monthly option is $9.99 per month. It streams to YouTube and plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a live camera feed. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
