You can run recorded tuition classes as a continuous YouTube Live feed by sending a playlist from an encoder to a YouTube stream. First check your channel’s livestream eligibility and the rights and privacy implications of every recording. Then create a stream in YouTube Studio, connect an encoder with the stream URL and key, test the feed, and plan for failures and archiving: YouTube’s cited guidance confirms automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, not for a single 24-hour broadcast.
What you need before starting
A continuous prerecorded-class stream is an encoder workflow: YouTube receives a feed from software or a hardware encoder, while the encoder plays your selected recordings. You can use an existing computer and suitable encoder software; YouTube’s guidance does not prescribe a specific computer, camera, microphone, or paid encoder for looping files.
- An eligible channel: YouTube says the channel must be verified, have no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, and the person livestreaming must be at least 16. Check the current status in YouTube Studio and allow for any activation delay if live streaming has not been enabled. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Recorded classes you may stream: Review all video, audio, slides, excerpts, guest appearances, and student contributions for rights and privacy issues.
- An encoder and reliable local setup: It must be able to play the files as a continuous feed and reconnect or restart after a fault. YouTube lists software encoders and professional-grade hardware encoders; choose based on your existing equipment and production needs.
- A preservation plan: Decide whether you need copies of the classes as separate videos. Do not rely on a single 24-hour stream being archived as one complete video.
Prepare the class recordings responsibly
Check rights across the whole playlist
You are responsible for having the rights needed to stream the content and for meeting applicable rules in the territories where it is shown. That includes more than the teacher’s lecture: check music, textbook or other third-party excerpts, slides, guest appearances, and recorded student contributions. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches and may interrupt a stream. Even if you have a licence, a rights holder may need to allowlist your channel in Content ID for the stream to proceed without a claim. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and copyright guidance for live streams.
Protect students and follow applicable rules
Check recordings for student names, faces, voices, contact details, grades, or other private information. Remove or appropriately handle material you should not broadcast. YouTube requires compliance with applicable territory rules, but the obligations for an Indian tuition operation depend on its circumstances. Verify the requirements that apply to your business, audience, and use of student data rather than assuming one rule covers every channel.

Do not treat looping as a monetization shortcut
A technically working livestream does not guarantee monetization. YouTube’s monetization policy says content should be original and authentic; repetitive or mass-produced material falls within its inauthentic-content policy, and reused-content review applies channel-wide. The policy page notes a July 15, 2025 update clarifying the inauthentic-content wording. A channel should not assume that replaying a playlist will qualify for monetization. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
Set up the YouTube Live feed
- Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule a stream. In Live Control Room, set the title, description, visibility, and any scheduling details. Use private or unlisted visibility for a pre-launch test; choose public only when the feed and materials are ready.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s encoder setup provides the server/stream URL and key. The URL tells the encoder where to send the feed; the key identifies the destination stream. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it, and reset it if it is exposed. Read YouTube’s encoder setup instructions and stream settings guidance.
- Configure the encoder to play the recordings. Add the class files or playlist in your chosen encoder, arrange the playback order, and enable looping if the encoder offers it. Enter the stream URL and key in the encoder’s YouTube or custom RTMP destination fields. Exact controls vary by encoder; use its documentation for the file playlist and loop options.
- Match the encoder output to your source and connection. Choose a resolution and frame rate your recordings support and your upload connection can sustain. Avoid unnecessary upscaling. YouTube’s live streaming tips cover stream quality and monitoring at YouTube live streaming tips; follow the recommendations relevant to the encoder and format you use.
- Start the encoder and inspect YouTube’s preview. Confirm that the feed arrives in Live Control Room before starting the broadcast. Check picture, sound, playback order, and that the stream is using the intended visibility and metadata.
- Start the live broadcast from YouTube Studio. Once the preview is healthy, start the event in Live Control Room. Verify the public watch page from a phone and a desktop before relying on the stream for viewers.
Choose between one continuous feed and shorter broadcasts
YouTube distinguishes a liveStream, the encoder’s incoming feed, from a liveBroadcast, the event or video viewers watch. Its Live Streaming API documents a continuous 24/7 feed and the ability to use the same feed with a distinct broadcast, such as an interview. That describes the platform model, not guaranteed uninterrupted service. Most creators can manage the ordinary workflow through Studio and an encoder; the API documentation is useful context, not a requirement to build an API integration. See Google’s explanation of YouTube broadcasts and streams.

There is an important archive trade-off. YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. The cited guidance does not establish that a 24-hour-or-longer stream will be archived as one complete video. If you need dependable lesson archives, schedule shorter broadcasts or keep and verify local recordings rather than assuming a long continuous event will produce a complete replay.
Test continuity and prepare recovery
A 24/7 feed needs a plan for problems beyond initial setup. YouTube recommends monitoring stream quality and checking that local archive files grow during encoder events. Test your own recovery procedure before making the stream public; platform documentation does not promise uninterrupted service.

- Watch the feed: Check that video and audio continue, the playlist moves to the next class, and the watch page remains available.
- Test a restart: Simulate or practice what you will do after an encoder crash or lost connection. Confirm whether the encoder reconnects, whether you need to restart playback, and whether the broadcast must be restarted in Studio.
- Protect local power and network: If your feed depends on a computer at home, power or internet loss can stop it. A UPS is an optional continuity accessory where local power interruptions are a concern, not a YouTube requirement.
- Keep recordings separately where archives matter: Confirm that your local recording files are actually growing and can be played back. Do not confuse an encoder’s local copy with YouTube’s automatic archive.
Troubleshoot common failures
| What you see | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive a feed | The stream URL or key is missing, incorrect, or entered in the wrong encoder destination. | Compare the encoder fields with the current values in Live Control Room. If the key may have been exposed, reset it and update the encoder. |
| The encoder is sending, but viewers see no useful picture or sound | The wrong source, playlist, output settings, or audio routing is selected. | Inspect the Studio preview; play a known class file and verify both video and audio before starting the public broadcast. |
| The stream stops after a connection or power interruption | The local encoder or its network connection has stopped, or has not recovered automatically. | Restore power or connectivity, restart the encoder or playback as needed, then check the incoming preview and broadcast status in Studio. |
| A live stream is interrupted after a rights match | Third-party material was detected, or a licensed work is not cleared for the channel in Content ID. | Review the affected material and rights status; remove or replace material you cannot use, and ask the rights holder about allowlisting where you have a valid licence. |
| A complete archive is missing for a 24-hour event | The cited automatic-archive assurance applies to streams under 12 hours, not a 24-hour-or-longer event. | For future archives, divide the schedule into shorter broadcasts or maintain and verify local recordings. |
| A looping channel does not qualify for monetization | Monetization review considers originality, repetitive or mass-produced material, reused content, and channel-wide policy. | Review the channel’s content against YouTube’s monetization policies; streaming successfully is not proof of eligibility. |
