The cloud service sends the feed to YouTube, so your own computer does not need to stay on. You still need to check the service’s storage, format, scheduling, and reconnect limits—and YouTube’s rules for rights and monetization.
What a 24/7 cloud restream does
A cloud restream is a live broadcast sent to YouTube by an encoder running on a provider’s infrastructure. The videos are prerecorded files; the cloud service sequences and loops them, then sends the resulting feed to YouTube Live. This is different from playing a playlist on YouTube or broadcasting live camera footage.
YouTube’s verified encoder directory identifies cloud services for continuous prerecorded-video streams, including Gyre. A listing does not make a third-party service an official YouTube product, and listed capabilities should be checked against the provider’s current plan and terms.
Set up a cloud playlist stream
1. Enable live streaming on your YouTube channel
Activate live streaming in YouTube before your planned start. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave this until launch day. Follow the current instructions in YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.

2. Prepare and upload the video files
Choose files you own or are licensed to broadcast on YouTube. Check that the cloud service accepts their formats, resolutions, frame rates, file sizes, and total playlist size. Upload them to the provider and use its converter or preparation tool if one is available. Confirm whether conversion changes resolution, frame rate, or other characteristics before relying on the result.
3. Build and loop the playlist
Arrange the uploaded videos in the order you want and enable repeat or loop playback. If you need a particular start time, multiple channels, or multiple destinations, verify that scheduling and simultaneous-stream features are included in the plan you intend to use. A playlist may repeat, but that alone does not guarantee that the broadcast will reconnect after a service or YouTube interruption.
4. Connect the service to YouTube
Follow the provider’s connection flow. Depending on the service, you may authorize a YouTube account or enter a stream URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: keep it private, enter it only in the intended service, and regenerate it in YouTube if it is exposed. Do not put it in a public page, screenshot, or chat.

5. Configure and start the broadcast
Use the provider’s YouTube-compatible output settings. Start the feed, then open YouTube Live Control Room and inspect the incoming preview for picture, sound, and playback order. Complete YouTube’s Go live step if your chosen configuration requires it. Do not assume that clicking Start in the cloud service always makes the public broadcast immediately visible; confirm the status in Live Control Room.

Before depending on the stream, find out how the provider handles a dropped connection: whether it retries automatically, how often it retries, whether it resumes the playlist position, and whether it alerts you. Verify these details in the current service documentation and plan terms. Automatic recovery can reduce manual intervention, but it is not a guarantee of uninterrupted uptime.
Encoder settings and protocols
The cloud provider may manage encoder settings for you. Its output should be explicitly compatible with YouTube Live. YouTube’s recommended live encoder settings include RTMP or RTMPS, H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), up to 60 frames per second, and a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS because it encrypts transmission to Google.

HLS is another ingestion option, notably for HDR or codecs not supported by RTMP. It involves requirements such as HTTPS POST/PUT, TS segments, 1–4 second segment durations, and a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments. Those are generally provider implementation details rather than settings a typical user needs to configure manually; ask the provider which protocol it uses and whether it supports your intended format.
Choose a service that fits continuous playback
Compare providers on the functions that affect a real 24/7 playlist, not just whether they can send a live feed. YouTube’s encoder directory lists Gyre for continuous prerecorded-video streaming; Gyre describes uploading files, creating a looping playlist, connecting a YouTube account, scheduling, and automatic playlist restart. Those are vendor-described features, so verify availability and limits for the current plan.

- Does the service explicitly support looping prerecorded files for YouTube Live?
- How does it connect to YouTube, schedule a stream, recover after a drop, and notify you of problems?
- What are the storage quota, maximum file size and count, supported formats, and converter behavior?
- What resolution and frame rate can it send, and how many streams or destinations can run at once?
- How are account credentials handled, and what controls exist for retention, deletion, and support?
- What is the cost at your required storage and stream count, and are there limits that affect continuous use?
- Does it provide a separate recording, or will you need to create shorter sessions for an archive?
Protect rights and understand YouTube monetization rules
A cloud service does not grant permission to broadcast the videos, music, photographs, or other material you upload. Use content you own or have permission to use on YouTube, including all incorporated music and visuals. A file already uploaded to YouTube is not automatically cleared for a separate continuous live broadcast.

Do not treat looping as a shortcut to guaranteed monetization. YouTube’s channel monetization policy applies to live streams; content should be original and authentic, and repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible under its inauthentic-content rules. YouTube clarified this policy on July 15, 2025, renaming “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” without changing the underlying policy. Review YouTube channel monetization policies before building a channel around repeated footage. A provider’s ability to stream uploaded files is not evidence that the content qualifies for monetization.

YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not mean a 24/7 broadcast will produce one complete, durable automatically archived video. If you need an archive, plan for separate recordings or shorter broadcast sessions, and check whether your cloud provider offers recording and what its retention limits are.
Troubleshooting common problems
The channel cannot go live
Check that live streaming is enabled and that any first-time activation period has elapsed. Confirm that the correct YouTube channel is connected and that the provider has the access it needs.

YouTube receives no video
Check the service’s connection status, stream URL, and key, and make sure the provider has actually started sending the feed. If a key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube and update the cloud service with the new one.
The preview has errors or poor playback
Confirm that the output is YouTube-compatible and that the provider is handling the recommended protocol and encoder settings. Check the source file for unsupported format or encoding issues, and use the provider’s preparation or conversion process if required. Inspect the Live Control Room preview before making the broadcast public.
The playlist stops or does not repeat
Check that loop or repeat is enabled, that each file uploaded and processed successfully, and that the playlist has not reached a provider limit. Ask the provider whether playlist restart and stream reconnection are separate settings.
The broadcast drops
Check the provider’s status and documented retry behavior, then review its alerts and YouTube Live Control Room. If the service does not resume automatically, follow its restart procedure; do not assume the playlist will continue from the exact point where it stopped.
