Remove watched movies or episodes from Account & Settings → Watch History (some accounts show Settings → Activity → View Watch History), remove saved titles through Watchlist, and use device-specific controls for the Continue Watching row. Amazon’s documented method removes history one title at a time; there is no universally verified “clear all” button.
Identify the list you want to change
- Watch History: titles Prime Video records as watched.
- Continue Watching: a resume row for unfinished or recently played titles; it is related to, but not identical to, Watch History.
- Watchlist: titles you deliberately saved for later.
- Search history, recommendations, purchases and rentals: separate account data that is not removed by deleting a Watch History entry.
Each Prime Video profile has its own viewing list. Prime Video supports one default profile plus up to five additional profiles, although availability and features can vary; switch to the profile that watched the title before editing it (Amazon profile help).
Remove a movie or episode from Watch History in a browser
- Sign in to the Amazon account linked to Prime Video and open Prime Video.
- Open your profile or settings menu and choose Account & Settings.
- Select Watch History. Depending on the interface, the path may instead be Settings → Activity → View Watch History (older Amazon staff path; newer wording).
- Find the movie, episode or season and select Delete movie/episodes from Watch History, Remove this from watched videos, or the equivalent control.
- Repeat for every title you want removed.
Amazon’s staff instructions describe per-title deletion, not a universal bulk-clear operation (Amazon guidance). Series can be represented by a show, season or individual episodes. Removing one episode may not reset every watched episode, so repeat the action as needed.
Remove a title from Continue Watching
Highlight the title in the Continue Watching row and open the device’s menu, options button or title details. If your app offers Remove from Continue Watching, Remove or Hide, use it. Some versions instead expose a long-press menu. Amazon also documents removing recently played items from certain apps by tapping and holding a title (Amazon staff instructions).

If no direct control appears, remove the title through browser Watch History. Close and reopen Prime Video after deletion; synchronization can take time. The row may reappear if another person watches the title on the same profile.
Remove a title from the Watchlist
- Open Prime Video and go to My Stuff or Watchlist.
- Select the movie or show.
- On its details page, change Added to Watchlist back to the add state.
- Alternatively, open the three-dot or options menu and choose the remove-from-Watchlist command.
On Fire TV, Amazon’s instructions use Your Videos → Watchlist; iOS, Android and web menus may place Watchlist under My Stuff. Watchlist controls are documented across computers, mobile devices and Fire TV (Amazon staff instructions). Deleting Watch History does not reliably remove a title saved in Watchlist.
Remove history on iPhone or Android
- Open the Prime Video app and switch to the correct profile.
- Open the title card or Continue Watching area.
- Tap and hold the title, or open its overflow menu, if available.
- Choose Remove From List, Hide This Video or similar wording.
iOS and Android layouts change by app version and region. If the option is missing, use the desktop-browser Watch History path; Amazon staff specifically recommend a computer when mobile controls are unavailable.

Remove history on a smart TV, Fire TV, Roku or console
- Open Prime Video and select the profile that watched the title.
- Highlight the title in Continue Watching, My Stuff or the relevant list.
- Press Menu, Options or the equivalent remote button, or open the title’s details page.
- Choose Remove, Remove from Continue Watching, Hide or the Watchlist toggle if offered.
There is no single TV path for every device and app version. When the control is absent, make the change from a desktop browser’s Watch History page.

Wrong account or profile
Confirm the Amazon login and active Prime Video profile. A household may accidentally share the default profile, while another profile holds the title’s history.
Continue Watching has not refreshed
Close and reopen the app, then sign out and back in if necessary. Do not start by clearing app data: that can remove downloads or sign you out without changing server-side history.

Another device played the title again
Check televisions, streaming sticks, consoles and household phones using the same profile before repeating deletion.
The title is actually in Watchlist
Use the Watchlist removal procedure; Watch History deletion does not remove deliberately saved titles.

Watch History is missing
Open Prime Video in a desktop browser, verify the account and profile, and look under Account & Settings, Watch History, Activity or a gear icon. Regional, third-party and redesigned interfaces may differ. If it remains unavailable, use Prime Video Help or contact Amazon support. Amazon also discusses missing history here: Amazon forum guidance.

What deleting Watch History does—and does not—remove
- The title should disappear from the relevant history list after the account updates.
- It may leave Continue Watching or stop affecting that row only after a refresh.
- The title can remain searchable and playable in the Prime Video catalog.
- Purchased or rented videos remain in the account’s library; history deletion does not cancel ownership or a rental.
- A saved Watchlist entry remains until removed separately.
- Removing one watched title may reduce its recommendation influence, but it does not erase every personalization signal from searches, ratings, other viewing, profiles or account activity.
- Search history, shopping activity, voice-assistant history, device activity and broader Amazon privacy records are separate matters.
Choose the right privacy or recommendation fix
You want better recommendations
Where shown, choose Do not use for recommendations instead of deleting the visible history. Amazon staff describe this as an alternative that preserves the viewing record while reducing recommendation impact (Amazon guidance).
You want household privacy
Use separate profiles and a profile PIN or lock rather than deleting an entire profile. Deleting a profile is a broad action that removes its personalization and settings; it is not an appropriate way to erase one title.
