Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo keep an overnight XSplit broadcast running, stop Windows from putting the computer to sleep while it is plugged in. In Windows 11, open Settings > System > Power & battery > Screen, sleep, & hibernate timeouts, then set Make my device sleep after for the plugged-in state to a time longer than your stream—or to Never, if available. The display can still turn off separately. XSplit is the streaming app; Windows sleep is the setting that can interrupt it.
Set Windows to stay awake while plugged in
- Connect the computer to power. Windows has separate timeout settings for plugged-in and battery use, so configure the plugged-in state for an overnight broadcast.
- Open the sleep timeout controls. In Windows 11, go to Settings > System > Power & battery > Screen, sleep, & hibernate timeouts.
- Change the sleep timeout. Under the plugged-in settings, set Make my device sleep after to a duration longer than the planned broadcast, or choose Never if that option appears. Microsoft describes this control as determining how long the device waits before going to sleep when not in use (Microsoft’s Windows 11 power settings guidance).
Changing a power mode such as Best performance is not a substitute for changing the explicit sleep timeout. Microsoft lists power modes separately; its guidance does not say that a performance mode overrides the sleep setting.
Let the screen turn off without putting the PC to sleep
Turn my screen off after and Make my device sleep after are separate controls. If you want the display dark overnight, set the screen-off timeout as desired while leaving the plugged-in sleep timeout longer than the broadcast. The display does not need to stay lit just to keep the computer awake.
Check a laptop’s lid-close action
A laptop can sleep when its lid closes even if the general sleep timeout is long. Open Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options > Choose what closing the lid does and review the Plugged in action. Choose an action that does not put the computer to sleep during the stream, or leave the lid open. Available choices vary by device.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Start the YouTube broadcast and verify it is live
- In XSplit Broadcaster, select your configured YouTube output from the Broadcast menu and start broadcasting. XSplit says a red status bar should appear at the top of the application window while you are broadcasting (XSplit’s YouTube Live streaming guide).
- If this is a scheduled YouTube event, check XSplit’s Manual Transition setting. When it is checked, starting the XSplit broadcast still requires you to click Go Live in YouTube Studio. When it is unchecked, starting the XSplit broadcast starts the YouTube event automatically. Confirm the event is live in YouTube Studio rather than assuming XSplit’s broadcast indicator alone means viewers can see it.
- Before leaving the stream unattended, run a supervised end-to-end test on the same computer and setup. Watch XSplit’s status indicators, including output FPS and CPU/GPU load. This is a precaution, not a guarantee against power, network, thermal, account, or YouTube interruptions.
Troubleshoot an overnight stream that stops
- The whole PC sleeps: Recheck Make my device sleep after for the plugged-in state and, on a laptop, the plugged-in lid-close action.
- The screen goes dark but the stream continues: That is consistent with the separate screen-off and sleep controls. The display may turn off while the computer remains awake.
- XSplit is open, but YouTube is not live: Confirm the YouTube output actually started and look for XSplit’s red broadcast status bar. For a scheduled event, check whether Manual Transition means you still need to click Go Live in YouTube Studio.
- The settings path or choices look different: Menus and available options vary by Windows version, device, and power plan. Windows 10 uses a different route from Windows 11; Microsoft says Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025.
- You are looking for an XSplit keep-awake switch: XSplit’s May 2026 release notes identify Broadcaster version 4.6.2605.2109 and describe a YouTube broadcast-ending fix, not a Windows sleep-prevention control. Configure sleep in Windows instead (XSplit Broadcaster release notes).
