XSplit Broadcaster can stream to YouTube, but its official setup guide does not say whether the stream continues when you minimize the app—and it does not guarantee a 24/7 broadcast. Treat minimized operation as unverified on your Windows setup: test it with the exact content, settings and network you plan to use, then monitor the live stream before relying on it unattended.
What XSplit’s documentation confirms—and what it doesn’t
XSplit documents enabling YouTube Live, authorizing your YouTube account, configuring a YouTube output and starting it from the Broadcast menu. YouTube also lists XSplit Broadcaster as a software encoder. Neither source, in the material reviewed, confirms that minimizing XSplit leaves its output running, or promises uninterrupted operation for 24 hours.
That means there is no evidence-based yes-or-no answer that applies to every XSplit and Windows configuration. Minimizing the window may work on your setup, but verify it rather than assuming it does. A stream that remains visible as live in XSplit is not enough by itself: check the public YouTube player and YouTube’s stream-health messages too.
How to test XSplit minimized before depending on it
- Set up the YouTube output. In XSplit, enable YouTube Live, authorize the account and configure the YouTube output using XSplit’s documented workflow. Start the output from the Broadcast menu.
- Use the actual stream conditions. Test with representative video motion and audio, the intended resolution and frame rate, and the network connection you expect to use. YouTube advises testing with representative content and selecting encoder settings that fit your connection.
- Confirm the stream in YouTube. Open the live player and check that video and audio are present. Review YouTube’s stream-health status and messages rather than relying only on XSplit’s local indicator.
- Minimize XSplit and check again. Confirm the public player remains live and that audio and video continue. Keep monitoring stream health during the test; a brief successful check does not establish 24/7 reliability.
- Test long enough for your use case. If you intend to leave a stream running overnight or continuously, test for a comparable period and watch for interruptions. YouTube warns that network disruption can break a stream, so an initial successful connection is not a guarantee of continuous delivery.
Connection and encoder settings matter
XSplit lists Windows 10 or 11 64-bit, 8 GB of RAM, a GeForce- or Radeon-class GPU with DirectX 10.1 or better, broadband internet and at least 500 kbps upload for live streaming at its lowest settings. That 500 kbps figure is XSplit’s stated minimum, not a recommended bitrate for every resolution and not evidence that an HD stream will work well.

Choose the bitrate and other encoder settings from YouTube’s current resolution-specific guidance for the resolution and frame rate you intend to use. Check your actual upload capacity, test under realistic conditions and leave bandwidth headroom. YouTube’s network tips recommend 20% headroom. A connection that barely meets a selected bitrate can be vulnerable to competing household traffic or changes in available bandwidth.
During the test, monitor YouTube’s stream-health messages and the actual player for both audio and video quality. YouTube specifically advises creators to continuously monitor streams; monitoring can help you spot a problem, but it cannot prevent a network interruption or guarantee uptime.

Plan separately for a complete recording
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not establish that a 24-hour broadcast will be archived in full. If you need a complete copy of a day-long program, arrange a local recording or verify YouTube’s current behavior for your stream rather than counting on a full archive.

If your goal is prerecorded video playing continuously, rather than live camera or game production, a cloud workflow avoids depending on an XSplit window and an always-on home PC. YouTube’s encoder guide lists Gyre and Upstream as cloud offerings for continuous streams, and describes AJA HELO Plus as supporting scheduled prerecorded streaming without a computer. These are different workflows, not fixes for XSplit’s minimized-window behavior; the cited material does not establish a controlled reliability comparison among them.
