How to launch Google’s Squid Game Easter egg
To try Google’s hidden Squid Game mini-game, open Google Search and search for Squid Game. Look for the invitation-card button showing the series’ circle, triangle and square symbols, then select it to launch the browser game.
The Easter egg recreates the show’s Red Light, Green Light challenge in a free, short digital experience. You do not need a Netflix subscription, the Netflix app or any physical product to try it.
Step-by-step: start the game
- Open Google Search in a desktop or mobile browser.
- Search for Squid Game.
- On the results page, find the floating or rectangular invitation card marked with the circle, triangle and square symbols.
- Select or tap the card.
- Wait for the full-screen Red Light, Green Light mini-game to load.
Google introduced the feature around December 26, 2024, alongside the release of Squid Game Season 2. Because it was a promotional Search feature, Google may retire, redesign or limit it by region, browser or interface. The steps above describe the reported launch process; they are not a guarantee that the invitation card will still appear on every device.

What to do when the game starts
Move only during the green light, and stop before Young-hee turns around.
The game controls six characters at once. Use the separate on-screen controls:
- Go: press the blue-circle control to move the players forward while Young-hee is facing away.
- Stop: press the red-cross control before Young-hee turns toward the players.
Do not assume that the game uses a press-and-hold gesture. The reported version uses distinct Go and Stop controls, so watch the interface and tap or select the appropriate button at the right time.

If any character is still moving when the red-light phase begins, that character is eliminated. Your objective is to get all six players across the finish line.

Tips for reaching the finish line
- Start moving promptly on green. Waiting too long leaves less distance to cover before the next turn.
- Stop early rather than late. Press Stop while Young-hee is still facing away, giving the characters time to finish their movement.
- Watch the character and the signal. The important moment is not simply the color change; it is whether movement continues as Young-hee turns around.
- Use the controls shown on screen. Keyboard shortcuts, swipes and press-and-hold input should not be assumed to work in every version.
- Disable sound if necessary. The game includes suspenseful audio associated with the show, and the interface provides a sound-control option.
Google’s version is a toned-down browser adaptation of the television series’ first game. Losing a character in the Easter egg is not equivalent to the lethal consequences shown in the drama.
If the invitation card does not appear
First, check that you searched Google rather than a different search engine and that the results page has finished loading. You can also try the related phrase Red Light, Green Light. That is a troubleshooting attempt, not a guaranteed alternative trigger: the principal reported trigger is Squid Game.

If the card remains missing, try these checks:
- Open Google Search in another browser.
- Try both a desktop browser and a mobile browser.
- Temporarily disable extensions or content blockers that alter Search results.
- Check whether your region or Google interface language is limiting the promotion.
- Try again later if the Search page is displaying a different design.
These steps cannot restore a feature if Google has ended the promotion in your region. The Easter egg was tied to the Season 2 launch rather than being presented as a permanent Google game.
