To open Multiview, start an eligible live program in YouTube TV, press Down on a TV remote—or tap the video on a phone or tablet—and select Multiview. Choose from the channels or events YouTube TV makes available. Multiview supports up to four feeds, but it is not available in web browsers or through AirPlay. YouTube TV’s official instructions may change as supported content and devices evolve.
What YouTube TV Multiview does
Multiview places multiple live channels or events in one viewing layout. You can see up to four feeds at once, although a particular layout may contain only two or three. You cannot assume that every four-channel combination is supported: the Multiview builder shows the content currently available for your device, subscription, schedule, and programming.
Open Multiview on a smart TV or streaming device
- Open the YouTube TV app.
- Start watching an eligible live program.
- Press Down on your remote to open the lower control panel.
- Select Multiview.
- Use the Multiview builder at the bottom of the screen to choose from the available channels or events.
- Select the combination you want to watch.
You may also find ready-made recommendations on the YouTube TV Home page under Top Picks for You or Watch in multiview. These sections are personalized and may not appear for every viewer.

- Open the YouTube TV app.
- Start eligible Multiview content.
- Tap the video to display the player controls.
- Tap the Multiview icon.
- Choose a content type and select the available channels or events to add.
Opening an arbitrary live channel does not guarantee that the Multiview icon will appear. Start with content that YouTube TV identifies as eligible.

Open Multiview on an iPhone or iPad
- Open YouTube TV.
- Start watching eligible Multiview content.
- Tap the video to reveal the controls.
- Tap the Multiview icon.
- Choose a content type and select the available content.
Change which feed has audio
Multiview displays several pictures but normally plays audio from only one feed at a time.
- TV or streaming device: Highlight the view you want to hear with the remote.
- Android, iPhone, or iPad: Tap the view you want to hear.
The active-audio indicator identifies the feed currently producing sound. If the wrong program is audible, select the desired view again. Select the relevant view before adjusting or checking captions; YouTube TV supports switching between audio sources and captions while watching multiple live programs.

Make one Multiview feed full screen
On a TV or streaming device
- Highlight the view you want to enlarge.
- Press the remote’s Select button.
- Press Back to return to the Multiview layout.
On Android, iPhone, or iPad
- Select the view whose audio is active.
- Tap the Full screen control.
- Tap the exit-full-screen control to return to Multiview.
Control placement can vary by device, so the mobile buttons may not look identical on every phone or tablet.

Exit Multiview
- TV or streaming device: Press Down, select Networks in the lower panel, and choose a channel. You can also press Back.
- Mobile: Tap the screen to show the bottom panel, select Networks, and choose a channel. Alternatively, tap the Back icon.
Why the Multiview option may be missing
Work through these possibilities:
- The program is not eligible. Try an eligible live sports event or another program that displays the Multiview option.
- Your preferred combination is unavailable. YouTube TV does not offer every possible combination. Check Home-page recommendations or try another eligible event.
- You are using an unsupported platform. Multiview is unavailable in a web browser and through AirPlay. Opening several browser windows is not the same as official YouTube TV Multiview.
- Your device is older. Devices mostly from before 2018 may have fewer customization options or lower picture quality. This is not a universal cutoff for every device.
- The content requires an add-on. Add-on programming requires the relevant subscription.
- The app or device needs attention. If Multiview should be available, update YouTube TV and the device software, then close and restart the app. No universal minimum app version is specified in the official help documentation.
Important content and subscription limits
Multiview is not a completely unrestricted four-window mixer. You build a layout from the content YouTube TV makes available at that time. Availability can depend on the event, channels, timing, device, and subscription.

- Add-on programming: The relevant add-on subscription is required.
- Family-friendly programming: Some family-friendly programming is currently excluded, but not necessarily all such programming.
YouTube’s current documentation describes eligible live content beyond a sports-only feature, but eligibility still varies. See the official YouTube TV Multiview help page for the latest restrictions.
Fix poor Multiview picture quality
Several simultaneous live feeds require more processing and bandwidth than one feed. Older devices may show reduced picture quality.

- Stop other high-bandwidth activity on your network.
- Close and reopen YouTube TV.
- Restart the phone, TV, or streaming device.
- Update the YouTube TV app and device software.
- Try Multiview on a different supported device.
- If the problem occurs only on older hardware, use newer TV or streaming hardware.
Do not assume that a particular resolution or frame rate is guaranteed across all devices and programs.
Can you use Multiview on a laptop?
No. YouTube TV’s official help page says Multiview is unavailable through a web browser and AirPlay. You can watch YouTube TV in a browser, but that does not provide the built-in Multiview experience. Unofficial browser-window workarounds may have separate playback, bandwidth, account, and device limitations.

What if you need four completely arbitrary channels?
YouTube TV Multiview does not guarantee any four channels of your choice. If the builder does not offer the combination, the built-in feature cannot create it. The practical alternative is to watch one program in YouTube TV and use another supported device or service for additional content, but that is not an equivalent Multiview layout.
