You can monetize a 24/7 prerecorded YouTube stream in India only after your channel is accepted into the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) and meets YouTube’s channel-wide monetization policies. In Live Control Room, create or schedule an encoder stream, send your prerecorded program to it, then enable monetization if the option is available. That setup does not guarantee ads or income: YouTube decides whether eligible ad slots serve, and a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured as a replay.
What you need before you can earn
Going live is not itself a monetization qualification. For ad revenue, YouTube’s India-facing eligibility page lists either 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 qualified public watch hours on long-form videos in the preceding 365 days, or 1,000 subscribers and 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the preceding 90 days. These are thresholds to apply, not a promise of acceptance or earnings. YouTube also reviews the channel for policy compliance and requires applicable account conditions and monetization modules. Other features—including memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers—have their own requirements and may not be available to every channel. Check the monetization area in your own YouTube Studio account for the features you can enable. YouTube also identifies YouTube Premium revenue for eligible content viewed by Premium subscribers.
Make the 24/7 programme eligible in substance, not just technically live
YouTube assesses monetization at the channel level. Its policy describes repetitive or mass-produced content as “inauthentic content”; reused content is a separate concern. A loop of existing clips does not become monetizable simply because you have permission to use them or broadcast them live. You need meaningful original contribution—such as substantive editing, commentary, or educational or entertainment value—and the channel should make that contribution clear through its programming and presentation. YouTube may consider the videos, titles, descriptions, and channel description during review. Read the current YouTube channel monetization policies.

- Build a programme with a distinct editorial purpose and meaningful viewer value, rather than repeating minimally changed material.
- Use footage, music, and other assets you have rights to use. Copyright permission and reused-content eligibility are different questions; permission alone does not establish that a channel meets monetization policy.
- Describe the programme accurately in its title and description, and explain the original work behind it where relevant.
- Do not assume that a continuous schedule is automatically disqualifying—or that it guarantees approval. The policy question is whether the channel’s content is original and valuable enough under YouTube’s rules.
Set up the stream in Live Control Room
YouTube supports encoder streaming through software, as well as professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events. A hardware encoder is optional: it does not qualify a channel for YPP or resolve content-policy concerns. Menu labels and access can change, so confirm the current controls in Studio. The steps below follow YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, choose Create → Go live. Create a stream on the Stream tab, or schedule one under Manage.
- Configure the encoder. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room into your encoder’s output settings. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, replace it in Studio and update the encoder.
- Send the prerecorded programme. Start the encoder output and let it send the video and audio feed to YouTube. For a continuous channel, the encoder or cloud service must keep supplying the programme; a local computer-based setup depends on that computer and its connection remaining available.
- Check the preview before going live. In Live Control Room, wait for the incoming preview. Check that picture and sound are correct, then start the stream. Monitor stream health and audio/video quality while it runs.
- Enable monetization if eligible. Open the stream’s monetization controls and turn monetization on. If the control is unavailable, check YPP status and account eligibility in Studio rather than assuming that the stream itself can override them.
- Review performance. Use YouTube Analytics’ live reporting and revenue breakdown to inspect results. Analytics can report what happened; it cannot guarantee future ad delivery or revenue.
Choose how mid-rolls are handled
When monetization is on, pre-roll and display ads are enabled automatically. Mid-rolls can be automatic, scheduled, or manual. YouTube recommends automatic placement; scheduled or manual placement can give you more control over timing but may reduce earnings potential. In all cases, an eligible slot may receive no ad because YouTube’s ad systems decide whether to serve one. Details are in YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.

Use delay controls or manual planning when a specific moment should not be interrupted, and check how the stream actually plays for viewers. Avoid treating the selected interval as an income estimate.
Plan the replay separately from the 24/7 broadcast
YouTube’s archive guidance says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived. It warns that “If your live stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” A single uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast is therefore not a dependable way to create a complete YouTube replay. If the full programme must be preserved, make a local recording and verify that it is usable; YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

There is a real trade-off: one continuous feed serves viewers who want an always-on channel, while shorter, archive-friendly broadcasts better fit YouTube’s stated automatic-archive guidance. Decide whether uninterrupted viewing or a reliable replay matters more, and do not promise a complete YouTube archive for an over-12-hour stream.

Revenue expectations and India-specific notes
Possible revenue routes include ads, eligible fan-funding features, channel memberships, and YouTube Premium views; shopping has separate requirements and is relevant when the channel has an appropriate product to showcase. Feature access depends on the channel’s eligibility and the applicable requirements. YouTube does not guarantee that every ad opportunity will fill, and the guidance cited here does not establish an India-specific CPM, a likely income, or a fixed return for a 24/7 stream.
YouTube notes that creators may have tax obligations and directs them to local tax authorities. Your tax position depends on your circumstances; confirm it with current Indian tax guidance or a qualified adviser rather than inferring a rate from YouTube revenue figures.

Troubleshooting common problems
- Live Control Room does not show monetization controls: check whether the channel has been accepted into YPP, whether the relevant monetization module is accepted, and whether that feature is available to the account.
- The stream does not appear in the preview: check that the encoder is sending to the stream URL shown in Studio and that it is using the current stream key. Confirm encoder output is running and wait for the incoming signal.
- The picture or audio is wrong: inspect the encoder’s selected programme output and audio source, then verify the preview before starting the public stream. Monitor stream health once live.
- The stream ends or goes offline unexpectedly: check encoder operation and the connection supplying its feed. A local setup requires the computer and connection to remain active; a cloud setup avoids relying on a home computer.
- The replay is missing or incomplete: an over-12-hour broadcast may not be captured. Keep and verify a local recording if a complete archive is important.
- Ads do not appear during a break: a monetized stream does not guarantee that an ad will serve in each eligible slot. Review monetization settings and analytics, but do not interpret an empty slot as a guaranteed future fill.
