You can run a continuous rain-ambience broadcast on YouTube with an encoder on a computer, or use a cloud service that keeps the stream running after you turn your computer off. Either way, prepare rain audio and visuals you have the right to use, configure the stream using YouTube’s current encoder settings, test it, and plan for interruptions and replay limits. YouTube supports the 24/7 broadcast pattern, but that does not guarantee uninterrupted service or monetization.
Check that your channel can stream
Before preparing the broadcast, confirm that your channel meets YouTube’s live-stream eligibility requirements. YouTube requires channel verification, no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, and streamers to be at least 16 years old. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance for current eligibility details.
YouTube supports streaming with an encoder as well as with a webcam. Its API documentation describes an ongoing 24/7 feed as a live broadcast, so continuous ambience is a supported broadcast pattern, not a promise that a particular stream will never drop. Current Help guidance also sets operational limits of 10 active streams per channel and three per stream key.
Prepare rain audio and visuals you can use
Use a rain recording and imagery that you created or have permission to use for this broadcast. Rights must cover both the sound recording and the visual assets; permission to use one does not automatically cover the other. Keep source files, license terms, and written permissions where you can retrieve them if a rights question arises.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
“Royalty-free” alone does not establish that an asset is cleared for a YouTube live stream, a saved replay, or the way you plan to use it. Read the license and confirm the permitted uses. YouTube scans live broadcasts for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may warn you and can temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream if the content remains. A licensed rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to avoid live interruptions. An archived stream can receive a Content ID claim after it ends. YouTube’s live-stream terms also place responsibility on the content provider to have rights needed to use the live content, including music rights where relevant.
For a more distinctive study stream, consider making your own rain recording, assembling a mix with meaningful variation, and using original visuals. Those choices help establish the work as yours, but they do not guarantee a particular copyright outcome or monetization decision.

Make the stream from a computer with an encoder
This route keeps the broadcast under your control, but the computer, power, and internet connection need to remain available for as long as you want the stream to run. YouTube’s encoder documentation supports a computer-based setup; the exact looping controls depend on the software you choose, so verify that it can repeat your prepared audio and visuals rather than assuming a particular menu or setting.
- Prepare the program. Make a video with the rain audio and visual scene you plan to broadcast, or prepare them in encoder software that can loop them. Confirm that the audio plays cleanly and the image is the intended size and frame rate.
- Create or open a YouTube live broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open the live control room and set up the broadcast. Use the stream key associated with that broadcast in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not share it publicly, and reset it if it is exposed.
- Set the encoder using YouTube’s current guidance. YouTube recommends RTMPS for ordinary low-latency streaming. Its encoder recommendations include H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate (CBR); and a keyframe interval of two seconds, not exceeding four seconds. For stereo audio, YouTube lists 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps; its 5.1 audio guidance lists AAC at 48 kHz and 384 Kbps. Check the current YouTube encoder settings and bitrate table for your chosen codec, resolution, and frame rate. There is no single bitrate that suits every configuration or connection.
- Test before announcing the stream. Send a short test with the actual rain audio and visuals. Check the preview, sound, picture, and stream health in YouTube’s live control room. Make sure the encoder is sending the intended program and that the network can sustain the bitrate you selected.
- Start the broadcast and monitor it. Keep the encoder computer powered on, the encoder running, and the internet connection available. Check YouTube’s stream-health information during operation. If OBS reports increasing dropped frames, investigate connection instability or a bitrate the upload connection cannot sustain; lowering the bitrate or stabilizing the connection may help.
YouTube’s current guidance lists up to 10 active streams per channel and up to three per stream key. These are platform operating limits, not a guarantee of continuous uptime.

Plan for interruptions and saved replays
A continuous broadcast still depends on the encoder, network, power, account status, and YouTube being available. YouTube’s API documentation describes how an ongoing broadcast can be bound to a stream, but that platform model does not prevent a local failure or guarantee uninterrupted delivery.
Do not rely on one complete YouTube replay for an all-day stream. YouTube says it can automatically archive a live stream if it is less than 12 hours; a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube’s archive guidance recommends recording a local archive as a backup. If you need a replay, enable local recording and consider ending and restarting in sessions shorter than 12 hours. A local file is a separate backup, not a guarantee that YouTube will retain a complete replay.

Understand the monetization limits
Running continuously or accumulating watch time does not automatically qualify a channel for monetization. YouTube applies its monetization policies to live streams and expects original, authentic work; mass-produced, generic, or highly repetitive material can raise concerns. Repeated rain footage with little variation may be assessed differently from a genuinely original production, but distinctive recordings and visuals still do not guarantee approval. YouTube makes a channel-level decision under its policies. Review its channel monetization policies before building a plan around revenue.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a computer at home to stay on, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. You upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; StreamNeo loops it from the cloud. It does not stream from a camera.
