Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →You can loop an ocean-sound video into a YouTube livestream with FFmpeg by preparing rights-cleared media, creating an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, and sending the stream URL and key from a computer that stays online. The setup can run continuously, but it is not guaranteed to be interruption-free: your computer, internet connection, FFmpeg process, and YouTube’s content checks all matter.
Before you begin: channel, media, and equipment
Check that your channel can livestream
YouTube’s current guidance says the streamer must be at least 16, the channel must be verified, and it must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time live-streaming activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup instructions.
Prepare an audiovisual loop you have permission to use
Use your own ocean recording and visuals, or check that every asset’s license explicitly permits continuous public livestreaming and any archive you intend to keep. Retain the license and permission records. “Royalty-free” does not necessarily mean unrestricted. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches, and a rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist even when you have a license. A match can interrupt the broadcast. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Listen to the sound at the intended loop point before broadcasting. A loop command repeats the file; it does not remove a click, silence, or change in wave ambience at the seam. If you want a continuous sound bed, edit and listen to the transition first.

Plan for the machine and connection to stay on
For the local FFmpeg method, the computer running FFmpeg must remain powered on, connected to the internet, and able to sustain the upload. Disable sleep for the broadcast period and check that restarts, updates, or power-saving settings will not stop the process. YouTube does not prescribe a specific computer model for this software workflow. The required capacity depends on your media, chosen encoding settings, and available upload connection.
Create the YouTube encoder stream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Go Live. Create or schedule a stream using the encoder workflow. Add its title, description, visibility, and other stream details in Studio.
- Copy the server URL and stream key. FFmpeg needs both to send video to the correct YouTube stream. Treat the key like a password: do not include a real key in a public command, screenshot, repository, or log that others can access.
- Choose a test visibility first. Use private or unlisted visibility while checking the picture, sound, loop point, and stream health. Confirm in Live Control Room that the preview is receiving the intended stream before making it public.

Choose video, audio, and connection settings
YouTube currently lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate (CBR); and recommends a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. It recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingest. For an H.264 1080p30 stream, its settings table recommends 14 Mbps video bitrate. These are YouTube’s encoder recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular connection or computer can sustain them. Check the current table at Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
For a mostly static ocean scene, 1080p30 may be adequate; that is a practical starting recommendation, not a platform requirement. Use the lowest resolution that meets your visual goal and that your system can encode and upload reliably with headroom. A sound-focused stream does not need 4K merely because a higher resolution is available. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the real broadcast and monitoring stream health.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Video: H.264 is used in the example below. A 1080p30 H.264 stream has a 14 Mbps video bitrate in YouTube’s recommendation table. Lower bitrates may reduce picture quality; select settings your connection can sustain.
- Frame rate and keyframes: The example uses 30 frames per second and a 60-frame GOP, giving a two-second keyframe interval. Keep the interval at or below four seconds.
- Audio: AAC at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz is a reasonable example configuration. Make sure the ocean audio is audible without clipping or abrupt level changes.
- Upload headroom: The connection must carry the encoded stream consistently, not just reach its target speed in a brief test. Other household or office traffic can reduce available capacity.
Loop and send the video with FFmpeg
For one prepared file containing both video and audio, this command illustrates an endless input loop and an RTMPS-style YouTube output. It is a starting example, not a tested command; exact option behavior depends on your installed FFmpeg build and input file. Replace the placeholders locally, check the destination format and server URL supplied for your stream, and test the actual file before going live.
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i ocean-loop.mp4
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -pix_fmt yuv420p
-r 30 -g 60 -b:v 6M -maxrate 6M -bufsize 12M
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "rtmps://YOUTUBE_INGEST/STREAM_KEY"
The sample uses 6 Mbps video, which is below YouTube’s 14 Mbps H.264 recommendation for 1080p30; it is an illustrative lower-bitrate setting, not a match for that recommendation. Adjust bitrate and resolution to the quality you want and the upload capacity you can sustain. Replace rtmps://YOUTUBE_INGEST/STREAM_KEY with the actual server URL and stream key from YouTube. Do not publish a real key embedded in a shell command or retained in accessible logs.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
The command assumes a single file with both picture and sound. If your audio and video are separate, or your file uses codecs or pixel formats the chosen encoder cannot handle, the command needs to be adapted. Check the installed FFmpeg build and test with the real media rather than assuming every file will work unchanged.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Test the livestream before making it public
- Start the command with the stream set to private or unlisted and wait for its preview in YouTube Live Control Room.
- Check that the correct stream is selected, the image is stable, and the audio is present and not clipping.
- Listen through a full loop transition to catch clicks, gaps, or abrupt changes in the waves.
- Watch YouTube’s stream-health messages and confirm the connection stays stable at the chosen settings.
- Only after the test looks and sounds right, set the stream’s visibility as intended and announce it.
YouTube specifically advises testing with audio and movement similar to the real stream. Leave time to correct settings before sharing the public link.

Keep a 24/7 broadcast running and plan for recovery
A local FFmpeg stream relies on the host computer, power, internet connection, and encoder process. If one fails, the broadcast can stop. Keep a restart plan: know how to relaunch the command, monitor FFmpeg output, and check YouTube Studio after a restart to confirm the stream is live again. FFmpeg documents reconnect controls for supported protocol inputs, including retry and delay options, but those input controls do not establish that every RTMPS output disconnect will resume seamlessly. See the FFmpeg protocol documentation. Do not assume a reconnect flag replaces monitoring or a recovery plan.
Understand YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube’s encoder guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A continuous 24-hour broadcast therefore should not be treated as one automatically archived full-day video under that rule. If keeping a complete recording matters, plan a separate recording and archive workflow, and verify your rights to retain and publish the media.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a home computer and connection to carry the broadcast, StreamNeo is a cloud option for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops from the cloud; it does not broadcast from a camera.
- Nothing has to stay powered on at home; the stream runs from the cloud.
- Uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot without re-encoding or quality tiers.
- StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card required, one free day per account.
The monthly option is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo streams to YouTube only. See StreamNeo or its pricing page, then start your free first day.
