For one regional-language MP4, add an OBS Media Source, select the file, and turn on Loop. For several files, add a VLC Video source, build the playlist in the intended order, and leave Loop Playlist enabled. Then connect OBS to YouTube Live, check the Live Control Room preview, and test the complete scene before broadcasting.
Choose the right OBS source
| Need | OBS source | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Repeat one MP4 | Media Source | Select the local file and enable Loop. VLC is not needed for this source. |
| Repeat several files as a playlist | VLC Video | Add the files in the order you want and enable Loop Playlist. This source requires VLC; OBS documentation says 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. |
OBS documents MP4 among the supported video types, but that does not guarantee every codec, profile, or damaged file will play correctly. Test the exact files you plan to broadcast. OBS’s documented loop controls do not depend on the language spoken in the video.
Set up a single MP4 to repeat
- In the OBS Sources dock, select + and add Media Source. Create a new source or select an existing one.
- In the source properties, select the local MP4 file.
- Enable Loop, then confirm the properties.
- Start playback in OBS and let the video reach its end. Confirm that it starts again before you rely on it for a public stream.
Set up a playlist of MP4 files
- Install VLC in the architecture that matches OBS. OBS documentation specifies 64-bit VLC for 64-bit OBS.
- In the OBS Sources dock, select + and add VLC Video.
- In the source properties, add the MP4 files and arrange them in the desired playback order.
- Keep Loop Playlist enabled; OBS documents it as on by default. Test that the final item returns to the beginning of the list.
- Check how the source behaves when hidden or switched out of view. Visibility changes can affect playback behavior, so test the actual scene transitions you intend to use.
The documented choice is an ordered playlist, not a shuffle workflow. If you need a particular sequence, arrange the files explicitly and verify it in OBS.
Check audio, language labels, and subtitles
Regional language does not require a special OBS loop setting. Playback and presentation are separate: the source plays the file, while any title card, language label, or subtitle can be added as another scene element. If subtitles or text are part of the scene, preview them with the actual font and files you plan to use.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Watch the OBS preview to confirm that the video is framed correctly and any title or subtitle is legible.
- Check the OBS Audio Mixer meters while the MP4 plays. If the stream should be silent, verify the source and mixer so audio is not sent unintentionally.
- If the video has multiple audio tracks, confirm the intended audio is the one being heard in the preview.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and select Go Live to reach Live Control Room. Create or select the stream.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream and choose YouTube as the service. Use the stream URL and stream key provided for the YouTube stream; labels may vary with the OBS version or connection method.
- Treat the stream key as a password. YouTube describes stream keys as “your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Do not display it in a scene, share it publicly, or include it in a recording.
- Start streaming from OBS and wait for the incoming feed to appear in the Live Control Room preview. Confirm picture and sound there before making the stream public.
YouTube’s live-stream eligibility guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. Check the channel’s current status before scheduling a broadcast: YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
Preflight the broadcast
- Test the exact files: play each MP4 in the intended OBS source, including the transition from the last item back to the first.
- Check the preview: use Live Control Room to verify that YouTube is receiving the intended picture and audio.
- Allow for network headroom: YouTube recommends upload bandwidth with 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate. This is YouTube’s platform guidance, not a guarantee that a given connection will remain stable. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrates guidance.
- Test for a few minutes: OBS’s quick start guidance recommends testing stream settings before going live. Where practical, make the first check private or unlisted and confirm access in the preview.
- Clear rights: make sure you are authorized to stream the video and its audio publicly. YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance explicitly calls out rights for stream trailers; rights for your program remain your responsibility. See YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance.
Common problems and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| VLC Video is missing or does not work | VLC is not installed, or its architecture does not match OBS. | Install VLC; for 64-bit OBS, use 64-bit VLC. Restart OBS and check the source again. |
| The video plays once and stops | The loop option is off or the wrong source type is being used. | For one file, open Media Source properties and enable Loop. For a playlist, check Loop Playlist in VLC Video properties. |
| A playlist item is skipped or will not play | The file may be unsupported in its particular codec/profile, damaged, or incorrectly ordered. | Test the exact file in OBS, then confirm the playlist order and source properties. |
| No audio is heard in YouTube’s preview | The source audio or OBS mixer routing may not be sending the intended track. | Play the file, watch the Audio Mixer meters, and inspect the source’s audio settings and selected audio devices. |
| OBS is streaming but YouTube preview is absent | The destination, stream URL, or key may be incorrect, or YouTube may not yet be receiving the feed. | Recheck the selected YouTube stream and credentials in OBS and wait for the Live Control Room preview to report the incoming signal. Keep the stream key private. |
| Stream disconnects or becomes unstable | Available upload bandwidth may be insufficient or inconsistent relative to the total stream bitrate. | Check upload capacity and leave the 20% headroom YouTube recommends; retest before the public broadcast. |
