The documented path is Add source > Scene Widgets > Video Playlist. The available setup guide does not identify the current loop control by name, so check the playlist’s properties in your installed version rather than relying on an assumed checkbox label.
Set up a video playlist in XSplit Broadcaster
- Open the scene where you want the videos to play.
- Select Add source > Scene Widgets > Video Playlist.
- In the playlist source properties, select Add, choose the video files, then select OK to save.
- Arrange the playlist source in the scene and add any other sources you need. XSplit scenes can contain collections of sources, such as video and overlays.
XSplit describes Video Playlist as providing continuous playback, but its setup article does not show the detailed properties panel or name a loop/repeat control. If you need playback to repeat after the final item, inspect the playlist source properties in your version of XSplit and confirm the behavior with a test. The documentation does not establish gapless playback.
Connect XSplit to YouTube Live
- In XSplit, open the Broadcast menu and select or configure the YouTube output.
- Enter or choose the broadcast details for the YouTube event, then start the output. XSplit’s YouTube guide describes selecting the output through the Broadcast menu and filling in broadcast details.
- If you are configuring a generic encoder output instead, copy the current stream URL and stream key from YouTube Live Control Room into the corresponding encoder fields. Treat the stream key as a password: do not show it in a screenshot or publish it in instructions.
- For a scheduled YouTube stream, check whether Manual Transition is enabled. With that setting, starting the XSplit output is not the final step; you must also select Go Live in YouTube Studio.
Manual Transition governs the event’s start action. It is not documented as a way to restart a failed output, recover from an outage, or resume a playlist automatically.
Test before leaving the stream unattended
- Run a representative test with both moving video and audio, using the same type of content you plan to stream.
- Choose an encoder bitrate that your upload connection can sustain; monitor YouTube’s stream health and any messages in Live Control Room.
- Preview the event and confirm that the playlist advances and repeats as intended in your installed XSplit version.
- Check the picture, audio levels, and scene layout before leaving the stream running.
YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends testing content representative of the planned stream and monitoring stream health. A successful start alone does not confirm that a long-running stream will remain healthy.

What to expect from a 24/7 YouTube stream
YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not establish that a stream lasting longer than 12 hours will be saved as one complete replay. If you need a full archive, plan a recording and retention workflow separately rather than assuming a 24/7 broadcast will produce one complete replay.
Troubleshooting common problems
The playlist does not repeat
The XSplit setup guide confirms the Video Playlist source’s continuous-playback capability but does not name a current repeat control. Open the source properties in your installed version, look for the playback behavior options, and test the playlist through its final item. Do not assume a setting name or seamless transition that the guide does not document.

The event is not live after starting XSplit
If the event is scheduled and Manual Transition is enabled, open YouTube Studio and select Go Live after starting the XSplit output. Also verify that the selected YouTube event and broadcast details are the ones you intend to use.
YouTube does not receive the encoder feed
For a generic encoder configuration, confirm that the stream URL and stream key match the active values in YouTube Live Control Room. Keep the key private. Check YouTube’s stream-health messages and the upload connection while a representative test is running.

The stream starts but becomes unstable
Review YouTube’s stream-health status and messages, then test at a bitrate your upload connection can sustain. A test should include the same sort of audio and motion planned for the actual playlist.
