To hide something you already watched, open Netflix in a web browser and remove it from that profile’s Viewing activity. To clear only the Continue Watching row, use Remove From Row. To stop someone casually opening your profile, set a four-digit Profile Lock PIN. These controls solve different problems: Netflix does not document a universal private-viewing or incognito mode.
Choose the control that matches your goal

Netflix keeps viewing activity, profile access, recommendations, and content restrictions as separate controls. For example, removing a title from Continue Watching does not by itself remove it from viewing history or stop it affecting recommendations.
Hide a title from viewing history
Use Netflix’s Account page in a web browser. The history-hiding option may not be available in the TV interface. These steps apply to the profile whose activity you want to change; Netflix says the workflow is unavailable when Viewing activity is opened from a Netflix Kids profile. Netflix’s instructions for hiding titles from viewing history describe the current control.
- Open Netflix in a web browser and go to Account.
- Under Profiles, select the relevant profile.
- Open Viewing activity.
- Select the hide icon beside the episode or title.
- For an episode in a series, choose the option to hide the entire series if Netflix offers it and that is what you want.
Netflix says a hidden title no longer appears as watched, is removed from Continue Watching, and is no longer used for recommendations unless it is watched again. Changes can take up to 24 hours to synchronize across devices.

Hide all activity on one profile
On that profile’s Viewing activity page, scroll to the bottom, select Hide all, and confirm. This applies to the selected profile, not every profile on the account. Netflix maintains profile-specific activity and personalization; see its profile management guidance.
Remove a title from Continue Watching
If you only want the title off the home-screen row, use the direct removal control. Netflix documents the following device-specific steps in its Continue Watching instructions.

- Computer: Hover over the title in Continue Watching and select Remove From Row.
- TV: Open the title’s details from Continue Watching and select Remove from Continue Watching.
- Phone or tablet: Open the title’s menu and select Remove From Row. On Android, Netflix says the latest app version is required.
On older mobile app versions, hiding the title from Viewing activity is the fallback. If the goal includes changing recommendations or removing the watched record, hide it in Viewing activity rather than relying only on row removal.
Protect a profile with a PIN
A Profile Lock restricts access to the profile; it does not erase activity already recorded there. Netflix says its Profile Lock PIN is four digits and is required to open the protected profile or play downloads from it. Set it from a browser or the mobile app:

In a browser
- Open Netflix’s Account page.
- Under Profiles, choose the profile.
- Select Profile Lock, then Create a Profile Lock.
- Enter a four-digit PIN and select Save PIN. Netflix may ask for the account password or an identity check.
In the mobile app
- Tap My Netflix, then the profile name at the top.
- Tap Manage Profiles and choose the profile.
- Tap Profile Lock and follow the prompts to add, edit, or remove the PIN.
If you forget the PIN, use Forgot PIN? or return to the Account page to edit or remove the lock. After changing a lock, refresh a device by switching profiles or signing out and back in if needed. Netflix says extra-member accounts have one profile and cannot use Profile Lock. Its Profile Lock help page covers the steps and limitations.
Use a separate profile for future viewing
For recurring privacy or personalization needs, a separate adult profile is usually more practical than repeatedly clearing history. Netflix profiles have separate viewing activity, recommendations, Continue Watching, My List, ratings, playback settings, and profile-lock settings. Netflix allows up to five profiles on an account; extra-member accounts are limited to one.

Use one profile for ordinary viewing and another for viewing you want kept separate from its recommendations and Continue Watching. A profile is not a substitute for a PIN if other people can switch into it. If you delete a secondary profile, Netflix says its viewing history and game saves are deleted; the main profile cannot be deleted. Check Netflix’s profile guidance before removing one.

Title Restrictions are parental or viewing controls, not a way to hide evidence of past viewing. Hiding from Viewing activity changes the profile’s displayed history and recommendation use; blocking prevents a profile from displaying or playing a title; Profile Lock restricts who can open the profile; and Remove From Row clears an item from one row.

To block a title, open the Account page in a browser, choose Profiles, then Adjust parental controls. Choose the profile, find Title Restrictions, search for and select the show or movie, then select Save. Netflix says blocked titles are removed from that profile. The management list displays only the first 100 blocked titles, though more can be blocked; finding a specific one to unblock may require searching. A device may need refreshing. Kids profiles and parental controls
Netflix says titles cannot be hidden when Viewing activity is accessed from a Kids profile. For children, use the Kids experience, maturity ratings, or title blocking; an account manager can review activity from an adult profile. Netflix describes the Kids experience as a simplified profile with child-selected titles and no direct access to account settings. See its Kids profile guidance and parental controls overview.
If a title is still visible
- You cannot find Viewing activity: Open the Account page in a web browser, select the intended profile, then open Viewing activity. The control is unavailable from a Kids profile.
- The title remains after hiding: Allow up to 24 hours for synchronization across devices. Then refresh Netflix by switching profiles or signing out and back in.
- One episode disappeared but the series remains: Return to Viewing activity and use the option to hide the entire series if available.
- You removed it from Continue Watching but recommendations changed: Hide it from Viewing activity too; row removal alone is not the documented history-and-recommendation control.
- Someone can still open your profile: Add a Profile Lock PIN. Hiding history does not restrict profile access.
What these controls do not promise
Netflix’s hiding feature changes how the service presents a profile’s viewing history and uses it for recommendations. Netflix says the title will no longer appear as watched and will not influence recommendations unless it is watched again. That is not a promise that every possible record is erased from every device or system, that another person cannot notice a change, or that activity already seen by someone else is undone. It also does not protect access to the account, its email, or account settings. Labels and availability can vary by country, device, account type, and app version.
