There is no permanent, standalone YouTube Premium membership that everyone can claim for free. Legitimate $0 options are limited to account-specific trials, promotional offers, access included with another paid plan, a qualifying household Family membership, or a gift paid for by someone else.
The safest first step is to sign in to the Google Account you intend to use and visit youtube.com/paid_memberships. Look under Offers from YouTube, then check the trial length, renewal price, billing date, and cancellation terms before accepting. Most offers require a payment method and automatically become paid subscriptions unless canceled in time.
Availability, prices, plan names, and promotions vary by country and account. The offers described below were checked against the supplied official documentation on August 9, 2026.
What YouTube Premium gives you
YouTube Premium is more than an ad-removal service. A full individual membership generally includes:

- YouTube Music Premium.
- Premium access across supported phones, computers, televisions, streaming devices, YouTube Music, and YouTube Kids where supported.
That distinction matters because several cheaper or bundled products provide only part of the Premium experience.
1. Check for an official YouTube free trial
A YouTube trial is usually the best option for someone who wants the complete Premium experience without buying another product. YouTube determines eligibility account by account, so a new account is not automatically guaranteed a trial.
How to check
- Sign in to the personal Google Account you want to use.
- Open youtube.com/paid_memberships.
- Find the Offers from YouTube section.
- Select the offer that specifically says YouTube Premium, rather than only YouTube Music Premium or Premium Lite.
- Review the exact trial length, amount due today, renewal price, billing date, and cancellation conditions.
- Add an accepted payment method if required.
- Save the renewal date immediately in your calendar.
YouTube also directs eligible users to youtube.com/premium/inapp. The labels and offer location can differ by device, country, account, and billing platform.
Important trial rules
Do not assume that every trial lasts one month. YouTube says trial lengths vary by offer and account. A payment method is normally required, and the membership automatically renews at the then-current price when the trial ends unless you cancel.

YouTube says introductory trials may be available to first-time members and to people who canceled YouTube Premium, YouTube Music Premium, or Premium Lite at least six months earlier. Only one introductory trial is allowed in a 12-month period. An extended trial may be available to a first-time member or someone who canceled at least three years earlier; only one extended trial is allowed in a three-year period. YouTube also states that only one trial is allowed per payment method. See the official trial rules for the current details.
Will canceling end the trial immediately?
YouTube’s trial documentation says that canceling during a trial prevents renewal while Premium benefits continue until the trial period ends. After canceling, return to the paid-membership page and confirm that the status and renewal date have changed. Keep the confirmation email or take a screenshot.
Why the trial may not appear
If you do not see an offer, the explanation is usually eligibility or account configuration rather than a hidden sign-up link. Common reasons include:
- You already used a trial within the applicable 12-month or three-year period.
- The payment method has already been used for an introductory or extended trial.
- You are signed in to the wrong Google Account.
- You are using a Google Workspace account that is not eligible for the requested plan.
- You are already subscribed through YouTube, Apple, Google Play, Google Fi, Google One, or another partner.
- The offer is limited to a particular country, device, app, or checkout flow.
- YouTube cannot verify your country.
- A VPN or proxy is active.
- The promotion has expired or is limited to new Premium users.
YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance recommends trying another network or device, checking the mobile app, using a personal account where appropriate, and disabling a VPN or proxy when country verification fails. Do not create accounts or misrepresent your location to force eligibility.

2. Current ways Premium may be included at no extra charge
These options can make Premium cost $0 separately, but they do not necessarily make the underlying product free. Read each description carefully.
Google Fi Unlimited Premium: six months included
Google Fi currently says that each eligible member on its Unlimited Premium wireless plan receives six months of YouTube Premium at no additional charge. The Fi plan itself is paid. After the promotional period, the subscription automatically renews at the current individual rate displayed by Google Fi, which the current plan page lists as $15.99 per month at the time of writing. That price can change.
To activate the benefit:
- Sign in at fi.google.com/account#plan.
- Open the relevant Member Profile.
- Under Devices & Subscriptions, select YouTube Premium.
- Choose Get started.
- Complete the activation steps using the intended Google Account.
Before the six months end, return to the same Fi area and choose the non-renewal option if you do not want the paid subscription. Google Fi warns that canceling the Fi-linked subscription can remove remaining promotional access, so choose Do not renew rather than canceling early if your goal is to use the entire benefit.
Watch for duplicate billing. A direct individual YouTube subscription may transfer to Google Fi when the benefit is activated, but Apple- or Google Play-billed subscriptions may not automatically cancel. A family-plan manager may also need to cancel an existing family membership before activating the Fi benefit, which can remove Premium from the entire family group.
Google’s support material still contains older references to “Unlimited Plus” and an older $13.99 price. The current Fi plan page and the price shown in your Fi account should be treated as the source of truth. See Google Fi’s activation guidance and the current Fi plan page.

Google AI Ultra: full Premium included
Google’s current Google One information says that Google AI Ultra includes an individual YouTube Premium plan at no additional charge. The included benefits cover ad-free YouTube and YouTube Music, offline access, and background playback.
This is a bundle, not a free Premium subscription. Google AI Ultra is a paid plan, and it is unlikely to make financial sense to buy Ultra solely to avoid a separate YouTube Premium bill unless you also want its AI features and other benefits. Google AI Pro currently includes Premium Lite, not full YouTube Premium. Check the benefits shown on your local Google One page before subscribing.
Google One’s limited one-month add-on offer
Google documents a one-month YouTube Premium add-on trial at no cost for limited eligible users. The documented eligibility can include nonmembers, current members, users already on a trial, Google Fi-sponsored members, and some people who previously redeemed a YouTube Premium trial.

To check:
- Sign in at one.google.com.
- Open Benefits.
- Find the YouTube Premium benefit card.
- Select Get offer or Add to plan, depending on what your account displays.
- Review the plan price, trial terms, and renewal date.
- Confirm only after checking which Google Account and payment method will be billed.
Redeeming the offer can immediately end an existing Google One promotion. Existing YouTube Premium members should also check whether their current subscription will be canceled or remain active. Apple-billed users may need to subscribe through the web before canceling an existing App Store subscription. The Google One offer terms contain the account-specific restrictions.
Device promotions
A device promotion can be useful if you were already planning to buy the product. It is not a sensible way to obtain “free” Premium if you purchase an expensive device only for the subscription months.
Pixel 10a — United States
The current U.S. Google Store offer for an eligible Pixel 10a includes:

Google TV Streamer (4K) — United States
The U.S. Google Store currently advertises three months of YouTube Premium with an eligible Google TV Streamer (4K) for qualifying new users. The listed redemption deadline is January 31, 2027. A valid payment method is required, and recurring billing starts after the trial unless you cancel. Confirm eligibility and the deadline on the current Google Store offer page.
International manufacturer promotions
Promotions from manufacturers vary sharply by country and device. Xiaomi, for example, currently documents two- or three-month YouTube Premium trials for specified devices and eligible markets, with a stated redemption deadline of August 31, 2026. The promotion excludes people who currently have or previously had the relevant Premium services or trials. Check the Xiaomi offer terms rather than relying on a generic international list.
For every device offer, verify the country, exact model, new-user requirement, prior-trial restriction, redemption deadline, required payment method, renewal price, and what happens if the device is returned.
Join a legitimate YouTube Premium Family plan
You can personally pay $0 if someone in your household manages and pays for an eligible YouTube Premium Family plan. YouTube’s rules allow the manager to add up to five other household members. Members must live at the same residential address, and YouTube performs an electronic household check approximately every 30 days.
Family members use their own Google Accounts, so their libraries, recommendations, subscriptions, and watch histories remain separate. They also cannot freely move between Google family groups; switching is restricted to once every 12 months.
To join:
- Ask the household family manager to send an invitation.
- Open the invitation while signed in to the Google Account you want to use.
- Accept the invitation.
- Confirm that Premium appears under YouTube’s paid memberships.
- Use your own account; never ask for or share the manager’s password.
Joining unrelated friends who live at different addresses is not an authorized workaround. It can fail the recurring household check and may cause access to be suspended. See YouTube’s Family plan requirements and family-group guidance.

Gift cards, gift codes, and someone else paying
A legitimate YouTube or Google Play gift card can be redeemed as Google Play balance and used toward YouTube Premium, where supported. This may be free to the recipient because another person paid for the gift, but it is not a free membership available to everyone. Google explains the process in its gift-card guidance.
Be suspicious of websites promising unused “free Premium codes.” If a page asks for your Google password, card number, identity document, browser extension, or unknown download, leave it.
Student plans are discounted, not free
Eligible students can usually pay less through YouTube’s student membership, but this is not a free Premium route. You must attend an approved higher-education institution, complete SheerID verification, and repeat verification annually. Eligibility can last up to four consecutive years.
If you stop qualifying, the subscription may transition to full-price billing unless you cancel. Check the student eligibility requirements and renewal guidance before signing up.
Premium Lite versus full YouTube Premium
Premium Lite can be a cheaper alternative, but it is not the same membership. Current documentation says most eligible non-music videos can be watched without ads, and background playback and downloads generally work for most eligible non-music content.
Ads may still appear on:
- Music content.
- YouTube Shorts.
- Search results and browsing pages.
Premium Lite does not include YouTube Music Premium. Google AI Pro currently includes Premium Lite rather than full Premium. If you mainly watch documentary channels and other standard creator videos, Lite may cover much of your use, but choose full Premium if you need ad-free music, YouTube Music, or comprehensive Premium benefits.
What is available permanently for $0?
The ordinary YouTube and YouTube Music services remain available with advertising. That is the legitimate ongoing $0 option, but it does not provide full Premium features such as official ad-free viewing, Premium background playback, Premium offline downloads, or YouTube Music Premium.
There is also no generally available permanent free Premium tier listed among YouTube’s official paid plans. YouTube’s plan documentation describes paid individual, prepaid, family, two-person, student, Premium Lite, promotional, and trial options, not a free standalone Premium membership. This conclusion does not rule out an unlisted, account-specific promotion; it means there is no general public plan anyone can claim on demand.
Billing, renewal, and cancellation checklist
- Screenshot the offer: Save the trial length, amount due today, renewal date, and post-trial price.
- Record the renewal date: Set a reminder several days before the trial or promotion ends.
- Identify the billing provider: It may be YouTube directly, Apple, Google Play, Google Fi, Google One, or another partner.
- Cancel in the correct place: Canceling in YouTube may not cancel an Apple- or Google Play-billed subscription.
- Confirm the status: Look for a changed renewal date, a “will not renew” message, or a cancellation email.
- Check the next statement: Review your card, Google Pay, Apple account, or Fi bill for an unexpected renewal.
Direct YouTube trial
- Open youtube.com/paid_memberships.
- Select the relevant membership.
- Choose the cancellation or deactivation control.
- Complete every confirmation screen.
- Verify the updated status and trial-end date.
YouTube says that canceling a trial stops automatic renewal while access continues until the end of the trial period.

- Select the member profile.
- Open YouTube Premium under Devices & Subscriptions.
- Choose Do not renew before the six-month benefit ends.
Do not use an early cancellation control if you only want to prevent the later charge and keep the remaining promotional access.
Apple or Google Play billing
Check the membership details for the billing provider. If Apple or Google Play is listed, use the relevant App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Partner activation does not always cancel an existing platform-billed membership automatically.

YouTube may place a temporary authorization hold on your payment method when you start a trial. This is not necessarily a completed subscription charge. YouTube says such holds can disappear within 1–14 days, depending on the bank. Debit-card users may see the hold presented more like a charge.
If the amount becomes a completed charge, the trial was not properly applied, or the charge remains beyond the expected period, check the membership and billing provider before contacting support.

Scams and unauthorized “free Premium” methods to avoid
Modded YouTube apps and Premium APKs
A modified app is not an authorized YouTube Premium membership. YouTube’s paid-service terms prohibit circumventing, reverse-engineering, modifying, disabling, or tampering with security technology and prohibit accessing paid services through unauthorized means. Unknown APKs can also expose your Google Account and device to malware.
YouTube advises avoiding unknown apps and unknown sources. Never enter your Google password anywhere except an official Google account page. Review YouTube’s paid-service terms and its security and phishing guidance.
Password sharing or stolen accounts
Do not buy access to someone else’s account or share a Google Account password. YouTube’s paid-service rules prohibit using password sharing to give another person access to a paid service they did not order. Family invitations provide the legitimate alternative because every member uses a separate account.
VPN country switching
Do not use a VPN to pretend to live in a cheaper country or bypass geographic restrictions. YouTube requires accurate country representation and may cancel access for misrepresentation or circumvention. Country-specific prices and offers should be obtained through the account’s actual country and official checkout. See YouTube’s country and travel policy.

YouTube says blocking YouTube advertisements violates its Terms of Service and may result in playback being blocked. An ad blocker does not create Premium account status, YouTube Music Premium, or official offline downloads. See the YouTube ad-blocker policy.

Bottom line
Start with YouTube’s official Offers from YouTube page. If no trial appears, check whether you already have Google Fi Unlimited Premium, a qualifying Google One offer, Google AI Ultra, an eligible device promotion, or a family member in your household who can send an invitation.
Before accepting any offer, confirm that the amount due today is $0, write down the exact renewal date, and determine who will bill you. There is no legitimate universal free Premium code, APK, VPN trick, or permanent standalone plan. For uninterrupted $0 access, use standard YouTube with ads; for full Premium, use only the offer displayed by your signed-in account or an official partner.
