Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down

A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11First, compare the same moment in the original video and a private YouTube test stream. If the sound is already late or early in the file, fix or replace the file; if it is aligned locally but not in the stream, check the playback and encoder path. Compare a cue near the beginning and another later on before changing settings: a steady offset and a mismatch that grows over time are different clues, not proof of a particular cause.
Find out where the sync problem begins
Use the exact file, scene and encoder you plan to stream. Choose a recognizable cue—spoken words, a music beat, or a visible action—and compare its sound and picture both near the start and later in the video. YouTube advises testing with audio and movement similar to the planned stream and monitoring stream health; its guidance says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” YouTube’s live encoder guidance is a useful starting point.
- The local file is out of sync: correct or replace the source before troubleshooting the stream. A live encoder cannot reliably compensate for a mismatch already present in the file.
- The local file is aligned, but the test stream is not: investigate playback, audio configuration and the encoder path.
- The mismatch grows between the early and later cues: note that pattern and test again; it indicates a different timing behavior from a stable offset, but does not identify its cause by itself.
Keep a copy of the working OBS profile before experimenting. Change one relevant setting at a time, then repeat the same test and compare the same cues. That makes it easier to tell whether a change helped.
Check YouTube’s documented encoder and audio settings
Use YouTube’s published settings as a configuration checklist, not as a guaranteed sync fix. For RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube lists AAC or MP3 audio. Its recommended audio sample rate is 44.1 kHz for stereo and 48 kHz for 5.1 surround sound. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. Confirm that the encoder is using a supported configuration, then test again with the same file and cues. See YouTube’s encoder settings.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Do not confuse delivery latency with audio/video synchronization. YouTube says HLS has higher latency than RTMP because it sends video in segments. That describes how long delivery takes; it does not establish that HLS causes sound and picture to be offset within the program. YouTube’s streaming protocol guidance describes the distinction.
Separate timing issues from performance and connection symptoms
Check OBS rendering and encoding load
If the source file is aligned but the stream is not, inspect OBS performance indicators and follow its troubleshooting guidance. OBS explains that system resource pressure, including GPU load, can affect rendering and encoding. Reduce workload where the indicators support that diagnosis, then run the same private test again. A demanding scene may be a useful test condition, but do not assume overload without evidence from your own counters or logs. OBS encoding performance troubleshooting.

Treat dropped frames as a separate clue
OBS defines dropped frames as a sign that the connection is unstable or cannot sustain the configured bitrate. Dropped frames alone do not prove that audio and video are out of sync. Check connection stability and YouTube’s stream-health messages when frames drop, while separately checking whether sound aligns with picture. YouTube’s Live Streaming API health documentation also describes delivery and configuration problems, including receiving too little video for smooth streaming. Work through the fix-and-verify sequence
- Play the exact source locally. Check a recognizable speech, music or action cue near the beginning and another later in the file.
- Run a private test stream. Use the same file, encoder and scene, and compare those same cues in the stream.
- Follow the branch supported by the comparison. If the file is misaligned, correct the source first. If only the stream differs, inspect its playback and encoder path and relevant audio configuration.
- Check performance and stream health. Compare OBS rendering or encoding indicators and connection status with YouTube’s stream-health messages. Investigate overload or dropped frames when present, but do not treat either as automatic proof of a sync cause.
- Change one relevant setting. Repeat the test and keep the change only if the same cues improve. Avoid applying a large sync offset based on one impression.
- Verify again before going public. Confirm alignment in both an early and a later portion of a new private test.
The reviewed official guidance does not specify a universal OBS sync-offset value for pre-recorded-video streams. The correction depends on where the mismatch enters—source file, playback, audio device, encoder or delivery path—so confirm the cause with a controlled test rather than copying an arbitrary offset.
