If your StreamYard broadcast to YouTube keeps disconnecting in India, start by checking connection stability—not just headline download or upload speed. Test upload speed, latency and packet loss on the network you will use; then try Ethernet, pause competing network activity and lower the outgoing resolution if performance degrades. StreamYard’s published guidance is general troubleshooting advice; it does not establish a distinct India-specific cause or identify a responsible Indian ISP.
1. Test the connection you will use for the broadcast
Run a connection test on the same network and, if possible, near the time you plan to stream. StreamYard’s Help Center article “How Do I Test My Internet Speed?” recommends at least 5 Mbps upload, with 7 Mbps or higher preferred. It says latency above 100 ms may affect real-time streaming and recommends packet loss no greater than 2%. These are StreamYard’s troubleshooting guidelines, not guarantees that a stream will remain stable.
A strong speed-test result does not rule out an unstable connection. StreamYard notes that bandwidth fluctuations and packet loss can cause trouble even when internet speeds look high. If you see a “connection is unstable” warning, record the upload speed, latency and packet loss rather than relying on one speed figure.
2. Stabilize your local network
- Use Ethernet if practical. Connect the streaming computer directly to the router. A cable can avoid some Wi-Fi variability, but it cannot fix an ISP outage or a problem beyond your local network.
- If you must use Wi-Fi, StreamYard recommends 5 GHz Wi-Fi, staying close to the access point and keeping a clear line of sight.
- Reduce competing traffic. Pause cloud backups, large uploads or downloads, automatic updates, other video streams, gaming and other heavy network use.
- Reboot the router when quality is poor. StreamYard suggests doing this 10–15 minutes before going live so the connection has time to come back up.
3. Lower the outgoing stream load when needed
If your test readings are weak or the broadcast starts to degrade, lower StreamYard’s outgoing camera resolution to 720p or 480p. Lower resolution can reduce the stream’s demands, but it cannot repair an unstable ISP connection or upstream route.

StreamYard’s published technical guidance lists these settings:
| Output | Video bitrate | Keyframe interval | Audio bitrate |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1080p | 4500 kbps | 2 seconds | 128 kbps |
| 720p | 3000 kbps | 2 seconds | 128 kbps |
The figures come from StreamYard Help Center’s “What Bitrate Does StreamYard Use For Live Streaming?”. Use the resolution reduction as a troubleshooting step when connection quality calls for it, rather than assuming a particular setting will cure every disconnect.

4. Check the browser, computer and security settings
- Refresh StreamYard and confirm that the computer still has internet access.
- Restart the browser and computer; close unnecessary tabs and applications.
- Try a private or incognito window, or test another supported browser. A different browser can help distinguish a browser-specific problem from a network problem.
- Check whether a VPN, proxy, firewall, browser extension or stale cache or cookies are interfering. Temporarily disabling an extension that affects pages can help identify the cause.
- If the camera itself is in question, test it on another site and check whether it works on another device.
These steps address generic browser or connection errors; they are separate from YouTube account authorization problems.
5. Compare networks, devices and guests
Try a different network or device and note whether the stream improves. Change one variable at a time so you can see whether the difference came from the network, browser, device or output resolution. Before a public broadcast, you can test with a private or unlisted YouTube stream.

For a multi-person broadcast, each participant’s feed depends on that participant’s own internet connection. If only one guest is having trouble, ask that person to test their connection and troubleshoot their network too.
6. Separate YouTube account errors from network drops
If StreamYard reports trouble connecting to your YouTube account, reconnect the account and check that StreamYard has the necessary Google permission to manage the YouTube account. StreamYard’s YouTube connection troubleshooting guidance treats this as an account-connection issue, not the same thing as a stream dropping because of network instability.

If YouTube says livestreaming is unavailable, check the channel’s YouTube dashboard for restrictions or policy-related issues. Reconnecting an account will not resolve a channel restriction.

| What you notice | What to check next |
|---|---|
| Speed looks high, but StreamYard reports an unstable connection | Check latency and packet loss; test Ethernet or another network and pause competing traffic. |
| The stream worsens during the broadcast | Reduce outgoing resolution to 720p or 480p and check whether other devices or applications are using bandwidth. |
| The issue appears only in one browser | Try a private window or another browser; review extensions, cache and cookies. |
| Only one guest has a poor feed | Have that participant test their own network, device and browser. |
| StreamYard cannot connect to the YouTube account | Reconnect the account and verify Google account permissions. |
| YouTube says livestreaming is unavailable | Check the YouTube dashboard for a channel restriction or policy-related issue. |
If instability continues after these checks, StreamYard recommends contacting your internet service provider for further troubleshooting. Its published guidance does not show that the issue is specific to India, establish an India-wide failure rate or name an ISP as the cause.
