The familiar nine-image year-in-review grid comes from third-party tools, especially Top Nine. As of August 9, 2026, the official website is still promoting Best of 2025, so a 2026 generator should not be assumed to be available yet.
What Instagram Top 9 actually is
A Top 9 is a collage containing nine posts selected from your Instagram activity during a chosen year or date range. The name is often used loosely: Top Nine is one service, while BestNine.net is a separate service with a different selection method.
Instagram itself may offer recap features, templates and yearly Reels prompts, but it does not automatically choose and assemble an official Top 9 collage for you.
Generate one with TopNine.co
The most direct route is the official Top Nine website. Use TopNine.co—not an unrelated site using a similar name.

- Open TopNine.co.
- Enter your Instagram username.
- Enter an email address where you can receive the result.
- Select Get my Top Nine.
- Open the email from Top Nine and download the generated collage.
Top Nine says its result is not simply the nine posts with the highest like totals. Its selection can take likes, comments and other factors into account, so the result may not match a manual ranking of your most-liked images.
If your Instagram account is private
A private account may require authorization before the service can read its posts. The authorization should take place through the genuine Instagram sign-in page at Instagram.com, and Top Nine describes the permission as read-only.
Never type your Instagram password into a page that merely looks like an Instagram login screen. Check the browser address bar first. If the page is not an official Instagram domain, close it.
If the result is missing posts
Hidden like counts can interfere with the generator. Top Nine’s current guidance says like counts need to be enabled on all posts for the result to work correctly. After changing those settings, a refreshed result may take up to one hour to reflect the change.

Use the official Top Nine app
Top Nine also has an app. The U.S. App Store currently lists it as Top Nine 2025 for Instagram, from App Toro. The listing supports iPhone, iPad and Mac and identifies version 1.22 as dated December 17, 2025.
Depending on the supported flow and device, the app can offer more control than the basic website:
- Generate collages for previous years.
- Choose a custom date range.
- Create a Reels-only collage.
- Include photos, videos and Reels.
- Rearrange the selected posts.
- Edit colors, text, borders and the template.
- Export and share the finished design.
Some accountless flows allow you to use the app without logging into it. Install it through the link provided by TopNine.co, rather than selecting an unrelated App Store result with a similar title. The publisher warns that multiple Top Nine and Best Nine clones exist, and their results and privacy practices may differ.
Try BestNine.net instead
BestNine.net is an alternative, not the official Top Nine service. Its current site says that it requires no registration, email address or SMS verification. It selects the nine most-liked posts from the chosen year.

- Dock Photo Printer: The KODAK Dock Plus is a home photo printer that produces high-quality 4x6” prints directly from compatible smartphones. Featuring an integrated docking station, users can place their phone on the printer for better connection while simultaneously charging the device during printing.
- Genuine 4PASS dye sublimation printing: Each photo is produced in three color layers and finished with a clear protective lamination layer. In approximately 55 seconds, you receive a smooth, detailed print designed to resist fingerprints, water, and fading for long-lasting quality.
- Easy to Use: Print photos quickly without complicated setup or technical steps. Simply power on, connect wireless bluetooth, and start printing within seconds. The Dock Plus is built for straightforward operation, making it ideal for first time users and everyday photo printing.
- Home Printing Station: Designed for stable desktop use, this dock photo printer connects to a power outlet for consistent performance and larger 4x6” prints. Ideal for home printing, photo albums, framing, family events, and everyday picture printing.
- KODAK Photo Printer APP: Featuring integrated Bluetooth connectivity, this portable printer connects to compatible iOS and Android devices through the KODAK Photo Printer app. Edit, crop, and customize your photos before printing for creative results.
That distinction matters. BestNine.net’s “most liked” approach can produce a different collage from Top Nine’s broader algorithm. If you use it, describe the result accurately as a Best Nine collage rather than assuming it is the same product.
Save the collage and post it to Instagram
Once the image is saved to your phone, publish it as a normal Instagram Feed post:
- Open Instagram.
- Tap Create at the bottom of the screen, or swipe right from the Feed.
- Choose Post.
- Select the saved Top 9 image.
- Tap Next.
- Add a caption, location, tags or music if you want them.
- Tap Next again.
- Tap Share.
A short caption can explain the selection method and year—for example, “My 2025 Top Nine” or “Nine moments from my year on Instagram.” If the collage includes identifiable people, check that you are comfortable sharing the image publicly before posting it.
Post from a computer
Instagram’s computer workflow supports a multi-item Feed post. Go to Create → Post → Select from computer, choose the saved image or other media, select Next, make any edits and click Share.

Share the image to your Story
To use the downloaded collage as a Story, open Instagram’s Story composer and choose the image from your phone’s camera roll or gallery. Adjust its size and position, add text or stickers if useful, then publish it to your Story.
If you are resharing an existing Feed post rather than uploading the saved file, Instagram’s usual route is Share → Add to story → Next → Share. The first button can differ when you begin with an image saved on your device.
Security checks before using a generator
| Check | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Website | Use topnine.co or the official domains identified by Top Nine, such as topnine.app. |
| Password request | Do not enter your Instagram password on a third-party-branded page. A legitimate authorization should redirect to Instagram.com. |
| App listing | Confirm the developer and reach the download through TopNine.co. Similar names do not prove an app is official. |
| Permissions | Read the requested access carefully. Be wary of tools asking for more control than is needed to inspect posts. |
| Unexpected messages | Do not trust direct messages or ads promising a Top 9 if the link leads to an unfamiliar domain. |
Third-party services may need access to public account information, post data or an email address. If you authorize a service and later stop using it, review Instagram’s connected-app settings and remove access you no longer need.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why your Top 9 may not match someone else’s
There is no single universal Top 9 calculation. Top Nine says its algorithm considers more than likes, while BestNine.net focuses on the nine most-liked posts. Different tools may also count Reels, videos, date ranges and archived or hidden posts differently. Even two apps carrying nearly identical names can therefore produce different grids.

FAQ
Does Instagram have an official Top 9 generator?
No. Instagram provides recap features and templates, but the familiar nine-photo collage is made by third-party services such as Top Nine.
Is TopNine.com the official website?
The official website identified in the available guidance is TopNine.co. Check the domain carefully, because similarly named sites and apps may be unrelated clones.
Why can’t Top Nine read my private account?
A private account may need to authorize access through Instagram’s genuine Instagram.com sign-in flow. Hidden like counts can also prevent the generator from working correctly; after enabling counts, a refreshed result may take up to one hour.
Can I post a Top 9 as a carousel?
Yes. Instagram supports up to 10 photos or videos in one Feed carousel. You can either post the completed collage as one image or select up to nine individual images if you want viewers to swipe through the original posts.

For the familiar collage, start at TopNine.co, verify every login redirect and avoid clone apps. As of August 9, 2026, its site is still labeled for 2025, so check the service before expecting a 2026 result. Once downloaded, the collage can be shared as a regular Instagram post, carousel or Story.
