There is no single Continue Watching list shared by every streaming service. To clear a title, use the control in the app that owns the row—and first check that you are on the right profile. Netflix, Max, and Disney+ document direct removal options, but the labels and remote-control gestures differ. Other services may rely on viewing-history controls, while Google TV can hide a tile from its own aggregated row without removing it from the streaming app.
Removing a tile is not necessarily the same as deleting watch history, resetting playback progress, or taking a title out of a watchlist. The steps below distinguish those actions and flag where device-specific controls vary.

Menu names and availability can change with app versions, profiles, and devices. The linked service help pages are the best reference if your screen differs.
Before you remove anything: check the profile and the goal
Confirm that you are using the correct profile before removing a title. Someone else may have watched it, playback may have started accidentally, or a child may have used the adult profile. A service’s viewing row is commonly associated with a profile, not a single device; Max, for example, says each profile has its own Continue Watching area and My List.

Choose the action that matches what you want:
- Clear one tile from a row: Use the service’s Remove or Hide control. This is usually the least disruptive choice.
- Erase the viewing record: Delete the relevant item from watch or viewing history, if the service provides that option. History deletion can affect recommendations and resume information.
- Start over: Look for a Restart or reset-progress control. Removing a tile alone may not reset playback progress.
- Remove it from a saved list: Use the separate watchlist or library control. My List, My Stuff, Up Next, and Continue Watching are not interchangeable.
- Keep a child from accessing it: Use profile restrictions or parental controls, not row cleanup.
Netflix
Netflix provides a direct row-removal control. Its current instructions cover computers, TVs, Android, iPhone, and iPad; on mobile, use the latest app version.
- On a computer: Find the title in Continue Watching, hover over it, and select Remove From Row.
- On Android, iPhone, or iPad: Find the title, tap its menu icon, and choose Remove From Row.
- On a TV: Open the title’s details from Continue Watching, open the available menu, and select Remove from Continue Watching.
If you do not see the control, update the app. Netflix says older app versions may require removing the title from Viewing Activity instead. That fallback changes the profile’s viewing record, not just the visible row, and may affect recommendations or the record used to resume a title. Check the correct profile before deleting history.

Max
On a phone, tablet, or computer, open My Stuff or find the title in Continue Watching. Open the title’s three-dot menu and select Remove.
On a TV, the control depends on the device:
- Roku: Highlight the title, press the * button on the remote, and choose the removal command shown by Max.
- Other TV-connected devices: Highlight the title and press and hold it for about one second, then select Remove.
Max says Continue Watching can include unfinished shows and movies as well as the next episode in a series, and that titles are automatically removed after 90 days. That does not mean each title remains for exactly 90 days. Removing something from My List is a different action from removing it from Continue Watching. See Max’s device and list instructions.

Disney+
On the web, go to DisneyPlus.com, find the title in Continue Watching, hover over it, select the Remove icon in the upper-right corner, and confirm Remove.
In the mobile app, open the title’s three-dot menu and choose Remove, then confirm. On a TV-connected device, Disney+ documents two options: highlight and press and hold the title in Continue Watching, or open its details page and select the Remove icon. Confirm when prompted.

Hulu
Hulu has used a Keep Watching collection and has offered a Remove action from its home experience and Watch History hub. However, the current menu labels and behavior are not established as identical across web, mobile, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, and smart-TV apps.
Check the Keep Watching row, then open the title’s context menu or details page and look for Remove, Remove from Keep Watching, or an equivalent option. If there is no row control, check Hulu’s Watch History for a title-level removal option. Treat history removal as a separate action: do not assume it resets progress or has the same effect as clearing one tile. Hulu’s older product announcement describes the Keep Watching and removal feature, but your current app may differ.

Prime Video
Prime Video’s removal controls are not confirmed as one universal path across web, mobile, and TV-connected apps. In Prime Video, first check the Continue Watching tile’s context menu and the title’s details page. If the TV app has no obvious control, try the browser version and check whether its menu differs. Do not assume that deleting a viewing-history entry, if available, is identical to removing one tile or that it resets progress.

That manages the aggregator’s tile; it may not remove the entry from Prime Video itself. Google explains that Continue Watching draws from participating apps and that some apps do not supply content to the row in its Google TV help page.
Apple TV app and Apple TV+
The Apple TV app’s Up Next list is not the same as a provider’s own Continue Watching row. A title can appear in Apple’s Up Next because it is available through the Apple TV app, while the provider’s app may maintain a separate viewing list. Removing an item from one surface should not be assumed to clear it from the other.
Look for the current list-management control on the device and Apple TV app you are using. The exact control may differ on iPhone or iPad, Mac, Apple TV hardware, and supported smart-TV apps. If the title remains in a provider app’s own row, remove it there as well.
Paramount+ and Peacock
For Paramount+ and Peacock, check the Continue Watching tile’s three-dot or context menu and the title details page for a Remove control. If it is missing on a TV, try the service’s web or mobile app. Availability and labels can differ by platform, and a control in one app should not be assumed to exist in another.

If there is no direct removal option, check the service’s help center for its current device-specific instructions or contact support. Do not use a history-deletion option as a substitute unless you are comfortable changing the viewing record; its effect on progress and recommendations depends on the service. Peacock’s help center is the starting point for its current support information.
YouTube: history controls, not a streaming-app row
YouTube’s relevant controls are generally tied to watch history and recommendations rather than a single subscription-service Continue Watching list. To remove one video from the viewing record on a computer, open Google My Activity, sign in, go to YouTube History, choose Manage history, and select the close icon beside the video. On Android, open YouTube, tap your profile picture, go to Settings > Manage all history, and tap the close icon beside the video.
On a TV or game console, YouTube documents clearing watch history from the left-hand menu under Settings, or pausing watch history. Deleting history can affect future recommendations; deleting a time range also removes search history for that period. Consult YouTube’s watch-history instructions before clearing more than one item.
The YouTube message “Video paused. Continue watching?” is an inactivity prompt intended to stop unattended playback—not a list-management control. See YouTube’s explanation of the prompt.
YouTube TV
YouTube TV has separate watch-history controls. Open the profile menu, choose Settings > Privacy > Manage watch history, then delete individual items or a time range. You can also pause history. YouTube TV says watch history affects recommendations; it is distinct from a program’s DVR or library status. Its watch-history help page has the current instructions.

If the title is on your TV home screen: Google TV and other aggregators
Google TV has its own Continue watching row. On the For you tab, scroll to Continue watching, highlight the title, press and hold the remote’s Select button, and choose Hide.
Hide is an aggregator-level action: it removes the tile from Google TV’s row, not necessarily from the streaming app that supplied it. If the title still appears in Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, or another service, clear it in that app too. Conversely, a title removed in an app may remain briefly in Google TV while its row refreshes. Google says the row includes content from most apps, but not all; live TV, sports, news, and music may not appear. See Google TV’s Continue Watching instructions.
Roku, Fire TV, and smart-TV home screens may display their own recommendations or content rows, but do not assume they offer a control independent of the originating app. Check the highlighted tile’s menu. If its source is a streaming service, remove it there as well.

A finished show can remain because the service still considers the episode incomplete, the credits were not watched to the end, the next episode was queued, or playback stopped just before the completion threshold. A synchronization delay or app glitch can also leave stale progress on one screen. Try the same Remove control first; playing the whole episode again is not usually necessary if a direct removal option exists.
If one episode disappears but the series remains, the service may have separate entries for the last episode, the next episode, or multiple seasons. Remove each visible entry. A title can also return if someone starts it again, opens a new episode, or watches it from another profile or device; removal should not be treated as permanent deletion.
If there is no Remove option or the item will not disappear
- Confirm the active profile and check whether another household member is using it.
- Update the streaming app; some controls require a newer version.
- Sign out and back in, then refresh the home screen.
- Try the service’s web version, then its mobile app; controls may differ by platform.
- Open the title’s details page instead of relying only on the row menu.
- If the service supports it and you want to alter the viewing record, remove the relevant item from watch history. Be aware this can affect recommendations or resume information.
- Force-quit the app or restart the TV or streaming device, especially if the device may be showing a cached row.
- Check another device and allow time for account synchronization before repeating the action.
- If the title persists across platforms, contact the service’s support team.
For Netflix specifically, its help page says older app versions may require the Viewing Activity fallback. For Disney+, a missing control may reflect device availability rather than a failed removal—the feature is not on every supported device.

Keep the row cleaner
- Use separate profiles so household members’ viewing does not mix.
- Sign out of shared or temporary TVs, including hotel-room devices.
- Use parental controls or child profiles for children’s viewing rather than relying on cleanup afterward.
- Where a service supports pausing watch history, consider doing so when testing videos or watching something you do not want influencing recommendations. Remember that pausing history can also limit useful viewing records.
- When you see a title in a TV home-screen row, identify whether it comes from the TV aggregator or the streaming app before hiding it.
