Use a Kids profile for age-based content limits, then choose whether to require a Parent Code to leave it or a Profile PIN to enter a particular Adult profile. The exact menu labels and rating options can vary by device and region.
What profiles keep separate
Each profile has its own avatar, My List, Continue Watching, settings, app language, ratings and recommendations based on its viewing history. Profiles personalize one account; they are not separate accounts. HBO Max allows up to five profiles per account, according to its profile help page.
Adult profiles are for general viewing, while Kids profiles provide a child-oriented interface and ratings controls. The access controls work differently: a Profile PIN can restrict entry to an Adult profile, while Kid-Proof Exit can require a Parent Code to leave a Kids profile.
Create a profile
- Open the profile chooser on your phone, tablet, computer or TV. If needed, scroll through the profiles to find + New Profile.
- Choose an avatar, or skip that step, then enter a name between 1 and 14 characters.
- For a Kids profile, turn on Kids Mode and follow the prompts to select a rating group and enter a birthdate. For an Adult profile, HBO Max may ask for a birthdate and gender.
- Save the profile.
HBO Max’s Philippines English help page gives PG (Ages 10+) as the default rating for a new Kids profile. That is a regional example, not a universal default; rating labels and available groups may differ in other markets. See HBO Max’s Kids profile instructions for the cited market’s details.

Edit and personalize a profile
Phone, tablet or computer
Open the profile menu, select Manage Profiles, choose the profile, make changes and save. HBO Max may offer a new Adult profile a preference setup for genres, brands, shows and movies.
TV
From the profile chooser, select the edit or pencil icon beneath the profile you want to change. The support instructions note that Apple TV has an Edit path. Menu names can vary with device and market; HBO Max’s profile help page lists the device-specific flows.

To change Adult-profile ratings, the cited help page directs users to HBOMax.com/editprofiles. Contact HBO Max support to correct a birthdate. An Adult profile cannot be converted to a Kids profile, and Kids Mode cannot be turned off when the profile birthdate is under 18.
Set up a Kids profile and Kid-Proof Exit
A Kids profile has a child-focused Home screen, rating-based limits, and its own My List and Continue Watching. Rating names and defaults depend on the market, so check the options shown in your app rather than assuming the Philippines PG (Ages 10+) default applies to your account.

- Create or edit a Kids profile and enable Kids Mode, then set the available rating group and birthdate.
- To require a code before someone leaves the profile, turn on Kid-Proof Exit and set a four-digit Parent Code.
- Use that Parent Code when prompted to exit a protected Kids profile. The same Parent Code applies to all Kids profiles on the account where Kid-Proof Exit is enabled.
Kid-Proof Exit controls leaving the Kids profile; it is not the same as locking an Adult profile. HBO Max describes the behavior in its Kid-Proof Exit and Parent Code instructions.
Lock an Adult profile with a PIN
- Select an Adult profile with Kids Mode off, then choose Lock Profile.
- Follow the prompts to authenticate and create a four-digit Profile PIN.
- To change or reset it, choose Reset Profile PIN and complete the account-password steps.
The United States English help page says a PIN change or reset email is sent to the account email address. On phones, tablets and computers, use the profile management menu; on TV, use the edit icon beneath the profile. See HBO Max’s Profile PIN instructions. A Profile PIN controls entry to that Adult profile; it does not replace the Parent Code used to exit a Kids profile.

Switch between profiles
Open the profile chooser and select the profile you want. If Kid-Proof Exit is enabled, enter the Parent Code when leaving the Kids profile. If the destination is an Adult profile protected by a Profile PIN, enter that PIN when prompted. HBO Max says mobile and computer apps reopen the last-used profile; a TV may show Who’s Watching, depending on the last profile used. These behaviors are described on the profile help page.
Delete a profile
- Switch to a different profile if the one you want to remove is currently active.
- Open Manage Profiles on a phone, tablet or computer, or use the TV edit control beneath the profile.
- Select the eligible profile, choose Delete Profile and confirm.
Deletion removes the profile and its information, including My List and Continue Watching. You cannot delete the first profile created with the account. For the device-specific controls, see HBO Max’s profile instructions.
