To run Sikh devotional music on YouTube around the clock, prepare recordings you have the rights to broadcast, enable live streaming on your channel, and send the feed through an encoder using the server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. Then test the signal and plan for interruptions, local recording, and the limits on YouTube’s automatic archives. A 24/7 schedule does not remove copyright obligations, and YouTube may not capture a stream that runs longer than 12 hours.
1. Prepare the channel and the music
Enable live streaming early
In YouTube Studio, use Create → Go Live to begin the live-stream setup. YouTube requires the channel to be verified and not to have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time enablement may take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned launch rather than waiting until the day of the broadcast. (YouTube Help, “Get started with live streaming.”)
Clear rights for each recording and use
Before scheduling a stream, confirm that you have the rights needed for the actual material you will broadcast. YouTube’s live-stream terms place responsibility on the provider to have the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation, including applicable music rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants, and to meet requirements in the stream territory.
Do not assume that a devotional, traditional, or religious work is automatically cleared. The composition, a particular arrangement, and a particular sound recording can involve different rights. Check that your permission or license covers the intended uses—especially live broadcast, territories, any archive or replay, and monetization if you intend to apply for it. Local licensing requirements and the status of any specific Gurbani composition or recording depend on the material and circumstances; YouTube’s general rules do not settle those questions. Seek qualified legal advice when you need help interpreting a license.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Ask about Content ID allowlisting
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects material, it may replace the broadcast with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it if the content remains. If you have licensed a recording, ask the relevant rights holder whether it needs to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Written permission and platform-side allowlisting can be separate operational matters. YouTube’s guidance is in “Copyright issues with live streams.”
2. Choose how to keep the stream running
YouTube supports both software and hardware encoders. A software encoder is installed on a computer; a hardware encoder is a dedicated device. Neither is mandatory. Choose based on what you need to connect, what you can operate reliably, and how you will monitor and recover the broadcast.

- Software encoder: useful when you are comfortable operating a computer-based setup and can keep the computer, network, and power available for the broadcast.
- Hardware encoder: an option if you need external audio or video connections or prefer a dedicated encoding device. Confirm compatibility with YouTube and your other equipment before buying; no particular model is required by YouTube’s setup guidance.
- Hosted looping service: can play uploaded recordings from the cloud rather than relying on a computer at home. It is a different setup from broadcasting a live performance, and it does not grant music rights.
For any setup, decide who will notice a failure and what they can do about it. YouTube documents encoder setup and stream-health monitoring, but it does not guarantee uninterrupted availability or prescribe a particular failover design.
3. Create the YouTube stream and connect an encoder
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live → Stream. Create a stream or schedule one for the intended start time.
- Copy the connection details. Copy the YouTube Live server URL and stream key shown for the stream. In the encoder, paste the server URL into its server or destination field and the key into its stream-key field. Do not publish or share the key: treat it like a password, and reset it if you think someone else has obtained it.
- Set the encoder format. Use RTMPS where your encoder supports it; YouTube recommends this secure extension to RTMP. Use the codec, frame rate, keyframe interval, and bitrate guidance in YouTube’s current encoder documentation, matching the settings to the encoder and the upload connection you can sustain. There is no one bitrate that is right for every resolution, frame rate, encoder, and connection. Avoid setting a quality your internet connection cannot maintain.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Confirm that the encoder is sending a signal and that the preview appears in Live Control Room. For a scheduled stream, wait for the preview before selecting Go live. Check the stream-health indicator rather than assuming that an encoder showing “connected” means viewers are receiving a healthy feed.
- Monitor the broadcast. Keep an operator or monitoring process able to spot a lost signal, unhealthy stream, or rights interruption and take the recovery action you have planned.
YouTube’s encoder setup and current technical recommendations are in its Live Control Room and live encoder guidance. The labels and recommendations can change, so check the current settings there when configuring an encoder rather than relying on an old preset.

4. Plan continuity, archives, and rewind
Make a recovery plan
A continuous schedule needs more than a successful first start. Plan for the encoder, computer or device, power, and internet connection to fail, and decide how someone will notice and restart the feed. A backup connection or encoder may reduce the effect of a local failure, but it is an operational choice, not a YouTube requirement or a guarantee that a stream will stay live.
Keep your own recording if the archive matters
YouTube can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours. If a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all; YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. If you want replays, build recording into the workflow and consider planned, shorter broadcast sessions, while keeping a clear live destination for viewers. YouTube does not guarantee that every replay will finish processing or be available in a particular form.

Do not promise full-day rewind
DVR can let viewers pause and resume a live stream, but YouTube cautions that DVR may be limited or unavailable for very long streams, including those over 12 hours. Tell viewers what to expect rather than promising that they can rewind through the entire day.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.5. Understand monetization and Creator Music limits
YouTube’s monetization rules apply to live streams. Copyright clearance and monetization eligibility are different tests: permission to use a recording does not by itself establish eligibility under YouTube’s reused-content policy. That policy considers whether the channel adds meaningful original value. YouTube’s 2025 policy update renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced content is ineligible. A simple loop of recordings made by others can therefore raise both rights and monetization concerns. Original performance, production, or another genuine contribution is a stronger foundation, but it does not guarantee YPP approval.

Creator Music is not a shortcut for licensing a live broadcast. YouTube says tracks available for licensing or revenue sharing through Creator Music can be used in long-form videos, not live streams. Its help page describes Creator Music as available to U.S. creators in YPP, with expansion outside the U.S. pending; individual track terms can vary.
6. Troubleshoot common problems
- Live streaming is not available yet: check that the channel is verified and has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. If this is the first enablement, allow up to 24 hours for it to take effect.
- The encoder connects but no preview appears: confirm that the correct stream’s server URL and key were entered, that the encoder is actively sending, and that the connection details have not been changed. Recheck Live Control Room for a preview before starting a scheduled stream.
- The stream is unstable or unhealthy: check the encoder’s output and internet upload connection, then lower settings if the connection cannot sustain them. Compare the encoder’s codec, frame rate, keyframe interval, and bitrate with YouTube’s current guidance for the chosen output.
- The stream is interrupted or replaced after music plays: review the affected recording and its rights, then contact the rights holder about Content ID and channel allowlisting. Do not assume that a license alone prevents an automated interruption.
- A long broadcast has no replay: a stream over 12 hours may not be captured by YouTube’s automatic archive. Use a local recording when preserving the programme matters; a missing automatic archive cannot be fixed by promising viewers a replay.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your format is a loop of prepared devotional recordings rather than a live camera or performance, StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for keeping uploaded videos live around the clock. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. It streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. One slot includes 10 GB of storage, pooled across active slots, plus 24/7 looping and playlists and StreamNeo team support. You still need the rights to every recording you upload; using a cloud service does not clear music rights or change YouTube’s archive and monetization rules. UPI and cards are available in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. Start the free first day on StreamNeo.
