To rotate several bhajans, install VLC, add an OBS VLC Video Source, load a playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. Either way, OBS must stay open on a computer that remains connected to the internet; the loop setting repeats media but does not itself create or host a YouTube broadcast.
Choose the right free setup

OBS is free, open-source software with no watermarks or commercial-use restrictions, according to the OBS Project Help Portal. The documented local workflow can still involve costs for a computer, electricity and internet access.
Check that YouTube Live is available to your channel
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days to enable live streaming. Check eligibility in YouTube Studio before preparing the broadcast, and create or open the intended live stream there. YouTube lists encoder streaming as one way to go live. See YouTube’s live-streaming guidance.
Set up OBS for one bhajan
- Install OBS Studio. Download it from the official OBS Project Help Portal.
- Create or select a scene. In OBS, use the Sources panel to add a Media Source.
- Choose the video file. OBS documentation lists common formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI and WebM. Select the local bhajan video and enable Loop in the source properties.
- Check the picture and sound. Confirm the video is visible in the preview and that the audio meter responds. If the picture is cropped or does not fill the canvas as intended, adjust the source in the preview.
Set up an OBS playlist for several bhajans
- Install VLC as well as OBS. The VLC Video Source is available only when VLC is installed. Match the installation architecture: 64-bit OBS needs 64-bit VLC.
- Prepare the playlist in VLC. Add the bhajan files in the order you want them played and save or keep the playlist available.
- Add the VLC source in OBS. In the scene’s Sources panel, add a VLC Video Source and choose the playlist.
- Enable Loop Playlist. Confirm the playlist advances through its items and returns to the beginning. OBS documents supported media formats and source controls in its Media Sources guide.
Connect OBS to YouTube and test before going live
- Open the stream’s encoder setup in YouTube Studio. Use the stream details and connection information YouTube provides for that broadcast. Treat the stream key as a password: do not show or share it publicly.
- Enter the YouTube connection details in OBS. Follow YouTube’s encoder workflow to connect OBS to the intended live stream. Do not confuse a video uploaded to YouTube with a live broadcast; the encoder must send the stream.
- Check output and audio. Choose settings appropriate for your channel and available upload connection, then verify that the bhajan audio is neither silent nor distorted and that the video displays correctly.
- Run a short test. OBS’s Quick Start Guide recommends testing settings for a few minutes before a first real stream.
- Start the stream and monitor it. Watch OBS and YouTube Studio for connection status, playback and audio. A successful local loop does not guarantee that the internet connection or YouTube broadcast will remain uninterrupted.
Clear rights before streaming a bhajan
Religious or traditional subject matter does not automatically make a particular recording free to livestream. Rights may apply to the recording, arrangement, performance and accompanying visuals. Use material you own, or obtain permission that covers live streaming and any archived version, and follow the rights owner’s requirements.

YouTube says that all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. If YouTube identifies third-party content, it may replace the stream with a placeholder; if the content remains, the broadcast may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. A copyright or Community Guidelines strike can also end a stream. If you have licensed third-party content, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to add your channel to their Content ID allowlist; a license by itself may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.

Troubleshoot common problems
- The VLC Video Source is missing: Install VLC. If OBS is 64-bit, install 64-bit VLC as well; then reopen OBS and check Sources again.
- The file will not play: Confirm the file is in a format OBS supports, such as MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI or WebM. Try opening it in a media player first; a damaged or unsupported file may need a compatible copy.
- A single video stops instead of repeating: Open the Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled.
- The playlist ends instead of restarting: Check the VLC Video Source properties and enable Loop Playlist.
- YouTube does not show an incoming stream: Confirm the intended stream is open in YouTube Studio and that OBS has the matching connection details. Recheck the stream key privately; regenerate it if it may have been exposed.
- The broadcast is interrupted after starting: Check YouTube Studio for policy or copyright notices and review the stream’s network status in OBS. A media loop cannot override YouTube’s content checks or restore a dropped local internet connection.
