To run an authorized news playlist continuously on YouTube with SRS, use a playlist or playout process to prepare and sequence the videos, publish that source to SRS, then have an outbound publisher send the SRS stream to YouTube using the current RTMPS ingest address and stream key. SRS relays media; it does not create or schedule the playlist by itself. Each stage needs its own monitoring and recovery plan.
How the streaming chain fits together
SRS describes itself as “a simple, high-efficiency, real-time media server.” In this setup, it is the relay between the playlist source and YouTube, not the playlist scheduler. The basic signal path is:
- Prepare the media: inspect the clips and make a sequence with FFmpeg or a playout application.
- Publish to SRS: send the source stream to an SRS address reachable from the publishing process.
- Send to YouTube: publish from SRS to YouTube’s current RTMPS endpoint using the stream key and connection details shown for your broadcast.
- Monitor each stage: check playlist playback, SRS ingest, outbound publishing, and YouTube’s live health view independently.
SRS documents RTMP, WebRTC, HLS, HTTP-FLV, and SRT support. These protocols serve different connections in a workflow; an SRS RTMP ingest address is not the same thing as YouTube’s RTMPS destination. See the SRS RTMP documentation and the SRS project overview.
Prepare a playlist that can keep playing
Check whether the files are compatible
FFmpeg’s concat demuxer can read a list of files in sequence, but it expects the files to have the same streams, codecs, and time base. It adjusts timestamps using each input’s duration, so inaccurate duration information can produce gaps or artifacts. Review the FFmpeg documentation, especially its concat demuxer section.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For a news library assembled from different cameras, archives, or editing systems, inspect each file before relying on direct concatenation. If the stream layouts or codecs differ, normalize the files to a consistent profile or use a playout approach designed for mixed media. Do not assume a concat list alone guarantees seamless transitions.
Design playlist behavior for real operating conditions
Decide how the playlist should loop, what happens when a file is missing or late, and how playback should resume after a process restart. These behaviors depend on the selected playout method, media library, and installed FFmpeg version; they need to be tested in that environment. Keep a known-good fallback item or sequence available if editorially appropriate, and verify that it is authorized for continuous rebroadcast.

Publish the source stream to SRS
The SRS documentation shows FFmpeg publishing an FLV stream over RTMP to an example URL such as rtmp://localhost/live/livestream. That address only works as written when the publisher and SRS can reach one another at localhost. In a deployed system, use the SRS host name or address reachable from the publishing process, and configure the SRS listener and stream path accordingly.
- Make SRS reachable: install and configure SRS on a host that can receive the publisher’s connection. Restrict access to the ingest endpoint as appropriate for your deployment.
- Choose the stream path: use the application and stream name configured on SRS; keep the publisher URL consistent with that configuration.
- Start the playlist publisher: configure FFmpeg or your playout application to publish the prepared sequence to the SRS RTMP ingest.
- Confirm ingest before forwarding: verify that SRS is receiving media and that playback is advancing, rather than assuming a successful process launch means valid video is arriving.
The example is a pattern, not a complete production configuration. Exact listener settings, authentication, firewall rules, and publisher commands depend on the SRS deployment and playlist implementation.

Forward the stream from SRS to YouTube over RTMPS
YouTube’s RTMPS guide specifies port 443 and requires the correct server hostname for TLS SNI. Use the current ingest address and application details provided for your YouTube broadcast. For API-based workflows, the current RTMPS ingestion address is available in the LiveStreams API response field cdn.ingestionInfo.rtmpsIngestionAddress. Do not copy a stream key or endpoint from an old tutorial: broadcast details can be specific to the current setup.
- Get current YouTube connection details: use the endpoint and stream key shown for the intended broadcast or supplied by the relevant API response.
- Configure the outbound publisher: have the relay/publishing process send the SRS stream to that RTMPS destination over port 443, preserving the hostname needed for TLS SNI.
- Protect credentials: treat the stream key as a secret. Avoid placing it in public logs, screenshots, scripts shared with others, or source control.
- Verify at YouTube: check the live health view for an arriving signal and review warnings before relying on the broadcast.
See Google’s Delivering Live YouTube Content via RTMPS for the connection requirements.

Plan for uninterrupted operation
A “24/7” setup is a chain of independent components, not a property SRS provides on its own. The playlist reader or encoder, SRS, network path, outbound publisher, and YouTube ingest can each fail separately. Use process supervision with restart rules and alerts, and monitor the stages individually. No particular supervisor, monitoring product, or uptime level is established here; choose and test tools that fit your host and operational requirements.
- Alert when playlist playback stops advancing or the source process exits.
- Check SRS ingest and outbound publishing separately so a broken handoff is visible.
- Test recovery after restarting each process, including whether the playlist resumes at the intended item.
- Keep a recovery procedure for expired or changed YouTube stream details, network interruptions, and incompatible or corrupt media.
India, rights, and YouTube checks
Before scheduling a continuous broadcast from India, confirm current YouTube account eligibility, live-stream availability, archive or duration limits, and any applicable local requirements directly with authoritative YouTube materials and qualified legal advice where needed. Those details are not established by the technical sources linked above and can depend on account or policy conditions.

Having access to a news clip does not by itself establish the right to rebroadcast it. Clear rights for video, audio, and other material in every playlist item, and consider whether continuous rebroadcast complies with the relevant platform rules and legal obligations. This is especially important for third-party news footage, music, and documentary excerpts.
Choose where each job runs
The central deployment choices are operational, not a universal ranking: sequence media in FFmpeg or a dedicated playout system; normalize files ahead of time or handle them in the playback workflow; run the processes on hardware you manage or rented compute; and publish directly to YouTube or relay through SRS. Compare options against media compatibility, recovery behavior, compute and network needs, operational skill, and YouTube’s current ingest requirements. Hosting capacity, regional performance, and network or egress terms should be verified with any provider you consider.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is simply to keep uploaded videos looping as a YouTube live stream, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay running on a computer at home; it streams the uploads as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
