For most members, access continues until the end of the current paid period, so check the Membership page for your final access date.
Cancel YouTube TV on a computer
- Open YouTube TV in a web browser and sign in to the Google account that manages the membership.
- Select your profile photo, then choose Settings.
- Open Membership and select Manage.
- Select Cancel membership.
- Proceed through any retention offer or survey, then select Cancel to confirm.
The cancellation is not complete until you reach the confirmation. YouTube TV’s cancellation instructions describe this browser-based flow.
Cancel from an iPhone or Android phone
Use Safari, Chrome, or another mobile web browser to open YouTube TV and follow the same profile photo → Settings → Membership → Manage → Cancel membership path. Confirm the cancellation at the end. If the YouTube TV app does not show these controls, use the mobile website instead; YouTube TV also provides mobile instructions.
Confirm cancellation and check your access date
Return to Settings → Membership and verify that the membership is canceled and note the displayed end date. Save the confirmation email or take a screenshot. If the page still offers an active membership with a renewal date, cancellation may not have reached its final confirmation, or you may be signed into a different Google account.

What changes after cancellation?
Access and billing
Canceling normally stops the next renewal rather than ending service immediately. You can generally watch until the current paid period ends; cancellation does not normally provide a prorated refund for unused time. If you need access removed immediately, contact YouTube TV support.
Add-on networks
Access to add-on networks ends when the membership period ends. If you want to lower the bill but keep the main service, inspect Settings → Membership and remove individual add-ons instead of canceling the full membership.

DVR recordings and returning later
After the paid period ends, recorded programs in your Library expire after 21 days. YouTube TV says library preferences are saved, but previous recordings may not be available if you restart the membership. Resubscribing may also mean losing promotional pricing, so do not assume a prior offer or recording library will be restored. See Google’s post-cancellation details.
Canceling a free trial
A trial converts automatically to a paid membership if it is not canceled, and trial length varies. Check Settings → Membership for the displayed trial end date and remaining days, then complete the cancellation flow before the conversion. The current trial guidance says access continues through the end of the trial after cancellation; the current cancellation page gives the same access rule. An older TeamYouTube community post contains conflicting wording, so rely on the current official help pages and verify the end date shown on your account.

Pause instead of canceling?
For eligible standard, Google-billed memberships, pausing can suit a temporary break. The pause can last from 4 weeks to 6 months and begins after the current billing cycle ends. You cannot watch or record new programs during the pause; existing recordings remain subject to normal expiration rules. At the end of the pause, the membership automatically resumes, charges the normal monthly price, and starts a new billing cycle. You can resume and pause again, but cannot simply extend an active pause. If avoiding any future automatic charge is the priority, cancellation is the more reliable choice. Details are in Google’s pause and cancellation guidance.
Billing through Google Play or a provider
Google Play
YouTube TV memberships billed through Google Play cannot be paused. Cancel and sign up again later if you want to return. Check Google Play billing guidance for the exception and review charges in Google Payments.

Mobile carrier or internet provider
If YouTube TV appears on a carrier or internet-provider bill, pause controls are not currently available. Depending on the setup, cancellation may need to be handled through YouTube TV or the provider. If you later rejoin directly through YouTube TV, billing may switch from the provider to Google. See provider-billing guidance and check the provider’s bill for charges.

First establish what the transaction is and which account or billing source it belongs to. Check the Membership page, Google Payments transaction history, your card or bank statement, and any carrier or internet-provider bill. Google’s billing troubleshooting guidance covers payment issues and authorization holds.

- Cancellation was not confirmed: Return to Membership and complete the final confirmation if the plan still shows active.
- Wrong Google account: Switch accounts and check which one owns the membership. A family member who watches may not be the account manager who can cancel.
- The charge predates cancellation: YouTube TV bills at the start of a billing cycle. Cancel before the next renewal date; do not assume the next calendar month is the cutoff. Billing-cycle dates and current plan details are explained on Google’s billing page.
- Trial converted or a hold appeared: Confirm the trial end date and cancellation status. A pending authorization hold is not necessarily a completed charge; consult trial and charge guidance.
- The charge is for an add-on or another purchase: Inspect Membership and the transaction details; a separate add-on charge does not by itself establish that the main membership is active.
- Provider billing or payment retry: Contact the provider if it bills you directly. A declined payment or retry can affect account access but is not the same as canceling; complete cancellation rather than relying on a failed payment or removing a card.
If the membership is active but you cannot cancel it, contact YouTube TV support.
Can you get a refund?
Canceling stops future renewal; it is separate from requesting money back for a charge already made. If you were charged after intending to cancel a trial, you can request a refund through support, but approval depends on Google’s review and is not guaranteed. If approved, the refund ends access immediately. Read the trial refund guidance.
If the Cancel membership option is missing
- Open tv.youtube.com in a browser rather than relying only on a TV or mobile app.
- Check that you are signed into the Google account that manages the membership; switch accounts if needed.
- Open Settings → Membership and check whether the plan is already canceled, paused, expired, or showing a billing problem.
- Review Google Payments to identify the account, payment method, and transaction. Use billing troubleshooting if the charge or payment status is unclear.
- Check whether a carrier or internet provider handles billing and contact it if necessary; provider arrangements can change available controls.
- If the membership is active and the control is still unavailable, contact YouTube TV support.
A missing button does not prove that the membership is canceled: the signed-in account or billing source may be the issue.
