To use Real-Debrid with Kodi, you need a compatible add-on or resolver: Kodi has no universal, official Real-Debrid integration. Open that add-on’s account or debrid settings, generate an authorization code, approve it at Real-Debrid’s official device page, then return to Kodi and confirm the account is connected. Use only add-ons you trust and sources you are authorized to access.
What Real-Debrid does in Kodi
Kodi is free, open-source media-center software; Real-Debrid is a separate service that processes supported hosted-file links. A compatible third-party add-on or resolver can connect the two. The add-on may find or present sources, while Real-Debrid may make supported links available for playback or downloading. Those are separate jobs: authorizing Real-Debrid does not itself find content or provide a catalog.
Real-Debrid is not a Netflix-style licensed film and television subscription, a Kodi plug-in, or an endorsement from the Kodi Foundation. Some add-ons support it, but their menus, compatibility, and reliability vary. See Kodi’s description of the software, its add-ons page, and its distribution policy.
Before you start
- Kodi: Install it from the official download page or an approved distribution channel.
- A Real-Debrid account: Some integrations require an active Premium subscription. Check the current details on Real-Debrid’s official Premium page; prices and terms can change.
- A compatible add-on: Choose a maintained add-on whose source and purpose you can verify. The exact setup steps are controlled by that add-on, not Kodi.
- A browser on another device: You will enter Kodi’s temporary code on a phone, tablet, or computer.
- An authorized source: Use content you have the right to access. Real-Debrid’s terms prohibit copyright-infringing downloads.
Step-by-step: authorize Real-Debrid
- Open the compatible add-on in Kodi. Find its settings or tools area. Depending on the add-on and release, this may be called Settings, Accounts, Providers, Resolvers, or Debrid.
- Select Real-Debrid. Choose a control such as Authorize account, Pair account, Link account, or Reauthorize. Labels are not universal.
- Note the displayed code. The add-on should show a short-lived device authorization code. Keep it private and use it promptly; if the add-on generates a new code, use the latest one.
- Open the official authorization page on another device: https://real-debrid.com/device. Sign in if prompted, enter the code exactly as shown, and approve the request. Do not use look-alike activation pages.
- Return to Kodi. Wait for the add-on to report an authorized account or active Real-Debrid status. If the status does not update, close and reopen the add-on before generating a fresh code and trying again.
- Test playback with a lawful source. Try a file the add-on can legitimately access. A successful authorization confirms the account connection, not that a source exists or will play.
Security: Prefer this built-in authorization flow. Do not share your password, authorization code, private API token, refresh token, or client secret with another person or an unknown site. Real-Debrid’s API documentation describes device authorization and warns against exposing private tokens. If an add-on asks you to paste an API key or token, verify its provenance and understand what access you are granting before proceeding.

How to tell whether it is working
- The add-on reports that the Real-Debrid account is authorized.
- If the add-on has suitable, supported sources, its results may identify Real-Debrid links or offer account-enabled playback.
- A test file plays, provided the source is available and your device, network, and file format can handle it.
No links does not necessarily mean authorization failed. The add-on still needs a working source index, matching metadata, a supported host or file, and a link that has not expired or been removed. Neither a specific resolution nor uninterrupted playback is guaranteed.
Troubleshooting
The code is rejected
The code may have expired, been mistyped, or been replaced by a newer prompt. Cancel the old request, generate a fresh code, and enter it promptly at the official device page. Check that you are signed into the intended account and do not retry on third-party activation sites.

Kodi still says unauthorized after approval
Reopen the add-on’s account or resolver settings and check its status. Close and reopen the add-on, then reauthorize with a new code if needed. Confirm your Real-Debrid account status; the chosen integration may require Premium. If the problem persists, the add-on or resolver may be outdated or malfunctioning. Update only from its trusted distribution channel, and make sure you authorized the correct add-on instance.

Authorization does not generate sources. The add-on needs a functioning provider or index, suitable metadata, and a source on a host Real-Debrid supports. Try another lawful source the add-on supports. If none appear, investigate the add-on’s source and resolver configuration rather than repeatedly authorizing the account.

Playback buffers, fails, or has no sound
Check whether the issue affects one file or all playback. Possible causes include Wi-Fi or bandwidth limits, a high-bitrate file, an unsupported video or audio codec, container or subtitle issues, an expired link, service maintenance, or an add-on fault. Try a different supported format or lower-bitrate file, and restart Kodi and the playback device. A VPN may affect connectivity; test without it only if that is safe and consistent with your privacy needs. Do not install random fix packages or disable device security.
You see an IP or VPN error
Real-Debrid documents an “IP address not allowed” error, and VPN behavior varies. Check whether you are using a VPN, proxy, shared network, or mobile carrier connection; test the official Real-Debrid website on the same network and consult its current VPN guidance. A stable connection may help, but changing VPN locations is not a guaranteed fix.
Access is denied or the account is locked
Stop repeated authorization attempts. Review your devices and sessions, remove the account from unknown add-ons, and change your password if you suspect unauthorized access. Contact official support if the issue continues; do not try to bypass restrictions. The service’s terms describe account, link-sharing, copyright, and reasonable-use restrictions.

Is Real-Debrid legal and safe to use?
Kodi is general-purpose media-center software, and Real-Debrid is an external link-unrestriction and downloading service. Whether a particular use is lawful depends on the content, source, license, jurisdiction, and user conduct. Accessing a file you are authorized to use is different from obtaining copyrighted material without permission. Real-Debrid’s terms prohibit copyright-infringing downloads and describe possible enforcement. Kodi also distinguishes its software from third-party sources; see its legality guidance.

Security depends partly on the add-on you choose. Treat it as software that may handle account authorization data. Avoid unknown repositories and preconfigured “fully loaded” builds: Kodi’s distribution policy says remote-media-source add-ons should not be preinstalled in official distributions. Use a unique Real-Debrid password, review connected devices, and revoke access from integrations you no longer trust. Real-Debrid’s privacy policy describes collection and retention of network and service data, so do not assume the service keeps no records.
Do you need a VPN?
No universal rule says a VPN is required. A VPN may be a separate privacy choice, but it can also lead to IP compatibility or authorization problems. Real-Debrid’s VPN list is indicative, not a guarantee that every provider or exit address will work. A VPN does not make unauthorized access lawful. Follow the service’s current terms and avoid sharing an account; its policies describe personal use and monitoring of connections.
Should you use Real-Debrid with Kodi?
It may suit someone who already uses Kodi lawfully and has a known, maintained add-on with a documented Real-Debrid integration. It is a poor fit if you expect a centrally supported Kodi feature, a licensed catalog, guaranteed access to particular titles, or seamless compatibility with every device and source. Compatibility depends on the add-on, resolver, host, Kodi version, file, and network; service availability and fair-use conditions can change.
