Use a request tool that explicitly supports YouTube Live, and restrict requests to music you have permission to broadcast. Nightbot’s documentation describes YouTube song requests, queue controls, filters, and a channel playlist that can play when the request queue is empty. StreamElements’ currently documented Media Request feature is Twitch-only, so it is not a documented YouTube solution.
Choose a request tool that supports YouTube Live
Start by checking that the tool can connect to your YouTube channel and work with its live chat. A bot that can manage chat is not necessarily able to play requested tracks, and a queue feature for another platform does not establish YouTube support.
| Tool or feature | YouTube Live song requests | What the documentation establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Nightbot Song Requests | Documented | YouTube requests, a request queue, filters and controls, plus a channel playlist that can play when the request queue is empty. |
| StreamElements Media Request | Not documented for YouTube | Its song-request commands are documented as Twitch-only. StreamElements says Media Request is unavailable for YouTube accounts. Its chatbot manages the queue while its Media Request player handles playback. |
Product features can change. Check the tool’s current documentation and channel-connection options before building your stream around them. Do not choose StreamElements Media Request for a YouTube queue unless its support for YouTube has changed and is confirmed.
Prepare an authorized lofi catalog
Decide what viewers may request before opening the queue. For a continuous lofi stream, make a playlist of tracks for which you have documented permission to use them in a livestream, then restrict requests to that catalog where the tool allows it. A song appearing in a public YouTube search is not evidence that it is cleared for live broadcast.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Keep records of the relevant licenses or permissions.
- Confirm that they cover livestream use, the territories in which the stream is available, and any archived version of the stream.
- Ask the rights holder about adding the channel to its Content ID allowlist when applicable.
Configure and test the queue
- Connect the YouTube channel. In the chosen tool, connect the channel that will host the live stream and confirm that the tool can read its live chat.
- Set request eligibility. Decide which viewers can request tracks and whether requests must come from an approved provider, music category, or liked-video list. Nightbot documents user-level, provider, music-category, and liked-video controls.
- Set queue and moderation rules. Choose queue and per-user limits where available. Decide who can remove or skip a request, and apply available filters before requests reach playback. Nightbot documents request controls and filters; StreamElements documents queue moderation, request limits, duration limits, and blacklists for its Twitch-supported module.
- Set the fallback playlist. Configure a channel playlist to play when the request queue is empty if your tool supports it. Nightbot documents this behavior. Check how the tool transitions between a requested track and fallback playback.
- Run an end-to-end test. Before relying on the queue for a 24/7 stream, test a viewer request, moderator rejection or removal, the queue display, playback on the stream, and the return to fallback music. Documentation describes tool features; it does not confirm that a particular channel’s setup is working.
Understand copyright and YouTube enforcement
A request queue manages submissions and playback; it does not grant music rights. YouTube says live streams are scanned for third-party content. It may warn the streamer and replace the live image; if the content continues, YouTube may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream. YouTube also notes that a licensed third-party track can still cause an interruption if the channel has not been added to the rights holder’s Content ID allowlist.
YouTube’s livestream terms say the channel provider represents that it has the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. Creator Music is not a workaround for live requests: YouTube’s Creator Music FAQ says its licenses do not support live content.

Or let it run in the cloud
A song-request queue and a 24/7 stream host solve different problems. StreamNeo plays videos you upload to a YouTube stream; it does not accept viewer song requests or go live from a camera. If you have a rights-cleared lofi playlist and want the stream to keep running without leaving a home computer on, the setup is:
- Upload a recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud.
Nothing has to stay on at home. Uploaded video streams at its original quality, up to 4K 60fps, for one flat price per slot; StreamNeo does not re-encode it or use quality tiers. It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. The monthly plan is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
