Netflix real-time voting lets viewers participate in certain live events and podcasts—but it is not a general-purpose poll for Netflix shows. To vote, watch an eligible program live on a supported TV, streaming device, or mobile device, then submit a choice during the on-screen voting window. Browsers are not supported, and each profile gets one vote per window.
How does Netflix real-time voting work?
Netflix announced the feature on January 20, 2026, for select live titles, with Star Search as an initial example. Netflix said it had previously tested an early version on Dinner Time Live with David Chang. The announcement called the launch “Global,” but that describes the launch framing—not availability on every title or at every event worldwide. Netflix’s Elmar Nubbemeyer, VP of Member Product, put the limit plainly: “Real-time voting is only available while watching select live events.” Netflix’s announcement
When a qualifying event presents a prompt, choose from the options on screen. On a TV or streaming device, use the remote; in the Netflix mobile app, tap the screen. Netflix says a vote can affect how a show and its contestants progress, but the role of audience input depends on the program’s format.
What shows have real-time voting?
Eligibility is title-specific and can change. Netflix’s Help Center describes voting for select live events and live podcasts; its current page names The Bill Simmons Podcast while live as an available example. Netflix says a podcast episode with voting indicates this at the beginning after you select play. Check the event or episode and Netflix’s current real-time voting instructions rather than assuming that an older announcement means a title still has voting.

What Star Search showed
Netflix’s 2026 reboot of Star Search premiered January 20 and concluded with its finale on February 17. During the finale, judges did not vote; viewers alone determined the winner. They rated each of eight performers on a five-star scale, then chose among the four highest-scoring acts. Magician TJ Salta won, and Netflix says results were revealed live after each round. The example shows how substantial voting’s influence can be in one program; Netflix describes the podcast use case more modestly, as shaping the live conversation and settling debates with Bill Simmons and guests. How many times can I vote, and can I change a vote?
You can vote once per profile during each voting window. A submitted vote cannot be changed. The prompt appears at a specific moment and remains available for a limited time, so be ready to choose while it is on screen.

Netflix’s at-home voting terms say each feature has its own rules and participation window, which may change. They prohibit attempts to gain extra votes through multiple accounts or profiles, as well as bots and automated participation. Netflix also reserves the ability to modify or suspend a feature and sets out how it handles failures that prevent an outcome from being determined. Read Netflix’s at-home audience voting terms; do not assume every feature has identical rules or that a vote is guaranteed to register.
What if I arrive late or miss the livestream?
Voting is live-only. Netflix’s Help Center warns: “You can only vote if you’re watching live. If you rewind or aren’t caught up, you may miss the voting window.” If the prompt has passed, or the livestream has ended, you cannot submit that vote afterward. Rewinding to the live point does not restore a window that has already closed. Netflix Help Center

Which devices are supported? Can I vote in a browser?
Netflix lists TVs, TV streaming devices, and mobile devices as supported categories. Web browsers are excluded. For mobile, Netflix specifies Android 9 or later or iOS/iPadOS 17 or later, with the latest Netflix app. For TVs, streaming devices, and game consoles, keep the device software updated; if Netflix identifies the device as unsupported, switch to another supported device.
Netflix Tudum named Roku among devices used for Star Search, but that does not establish compatibility for every Roku model. The practical check is whether your device category is supported, its software and app are current, and it can play the eligible event live. Netflix Tudum

Does my language setting affect voting?
The voting interface is in English, but Netflix says viewers can vote regardless of their language settings. The audio and subtitle languages available for a live event are separate from the language of the voting controls. Netflix Help Center
Is real-time voting available across Netflix?
No. It applies to selected live programming, not ordinary on-demand viewing or every live title. Netflix’s Q4 2025 shareholder letter described live programming as a small share of total viewing hours while saying major live events can generate disproportionate excitement and signups. The letter attributed an average-minute audience of 33 million (Live+1) to Anthony Joshua’s sixth-round knockout of Jake Paul; that is an audience figure for the event, not a count of voters or evidence that voting drove viewership.
