The episode opens with a man watching Douglas Newmeyer play golf. After someone cuts the brake lines on Newmeyer’s truck, it crashes. The early evidence suggests the victim was a hired killer, and Morgan works the case with Karadec, Oz and Daphne.
Who was the apparent hitman?
The man was Curtis Belanger, an undercover FBI agent posing as a contract killer. He had been investigating whoever ordered a hit on Newmeyer. That changes the central question: the team must find not only who wanted Newmeyer dead, but who killed Belanger and why.

How does Newmeyer’s vacuum connect to the case?
Newmeyer is an inventor whose popular vacuum has faulty wiring. According to the episode recaps, his lawyers kept safety problems out of public view, and four deaths were attributed to the product in the story. The apparent contract killing and Belanger’s investigation lead the team toward that concealed safety matter.
Newmeyer’s affair offers a lead to Joel Dorskind, who appears to have hired Belanger. But that apparent explanation does not account for Belanger’s death. Morgan notices that evidence has been planted or moved, and reasons that whoever killed Belanger knew details of his hotel room and assignment. The focus shifts from the people around Newmeyer to the FBI agents involved in the case.

How does Morgan expose the person behind Belanger’s death?
Morgan examines deleted photographs and finds a clue in Wayne Vincent’s personnel record. Those details connect Vincent to Newmeyer. The recaps report that Vincent passed information about the investigation into the vacuum deaths; Newmeyer and Vincent are arrested.
The distinction matters: Dorskind appears to have hired Belanger, but that does not explain the undercover agent’s death. Morgan’s attention to how the evidence was handled points the investigation toward an insider with access to Belanger’s assignment.

Why does the case get under Morgan’s skin?
Newmeyer dismisses Morgan, and his treatment recalls her father telling her she was wasting her gifts. The case is therefore not only a puzzle for her: it presses on an old wound. Karadec reassures her that she matters to the team and that her work has helped people.
What happens with Elliott, Morgan and Ludo?
Rhys sends Morgan flowers. Elliott mistakenly thinks they came from Ludo and tries to help his parents get back together. Ludo eventually tells Elliott that he and Morgan are better as friends, puncturing the hope Elliott had attached to the flowers.
