“Eleven Minutes,” the third episode of High Potential Season 2, trades some of the Game Maker storyline’s urgency for a self-contained murder mystery and a more intimate conflict: Morgan finally tells Ava what she knows about Roman. The case’s heart-transplant twist is dramatic, if easier to anticipate than the episode may intend; the more affecting turn is watching Ava absorb the possibility that her father chose to stay away.
What happens in “Eleven Minutes”
Spoilers ahead. Nathan Gould is found strangled. His gambling debts and distance from his daughter Jessica initially frame the investigation around the damage left by a troubled life. The case eventually takes a darker, more complicated shape: the murder is tied to an attempt to secure Nathan’s heart for transplant. Christopher, a paramedic whose mother needs a donor heart, is revealed as the killer. His desperation gives the crime an understandable motive, but not an exoneration; the episode leaves the moral weight of his choice intact. Ready Steady Cut’s recap details how the investigation reframes the death.

The title’s “eleven minutes” points toward the episode’s central medical and procedural puzzle, while the reveal shifts the question from who wanted Nathan dead to what someone might do for a loved one. The transplant motive is the case’s most conspicuous turn. Viewers who spot the connection early may find the solution telegraphed, but the ethical complication gives the mystery more substance than a simple culprit reveal.
Morgan’s disclosure turns the Roman mystery into a family crisis
Alongside the case, Morgan tells Ava what she has learned about Roman, including Arthur’s contact and the possibility of where Roman may be. Ava interprets her father’s continued absence as a choice: he may have decided not to be in her life. That is the episode’s emotional break point. Rather than keep the information at a distance as an adult mystery, the story makes Ava confront what it could mean for her.
#1 Best Overall
Ava’s hurt spills into action when she vandalizes one of Roman’s murals. Morgan becomes involved, and the two are arrested before Karadec helps resolve the immediate situation. The incident gives the family plot an unruly, occasionally comic surface without softening the reason Ava is lashing out.
Showrunner Todd Harthan explained Morgan’s decision to TVLine this way: “There are certain things you hide from your kids to protect them, but at some point you cross a line where it becomes more harm than good.” His comments also frame Morgan’s search less as a romantic pursuit than a mother’s effort to get answers and closure for Ava. As he put it, “Morgan’s feelings have graduated to less about still being in love with this man who’s been gone for 15 years.” TVLine’s recap and interview provide the surrounding context for both remarks.

Does the episode’s balance work?
The episode deliberately cools the momentum of the Game Maker arc. That reset gives the Roman story room to matter, but it can also make “Eleven Minutes” feel less urgent as a season installment. Ready Steady Cut describes the episode as deflated after the larger storyline, while still praising the Ava material and the case’s interest. By contrast, Absolute Geeks rates it 4 out of 5, applauding its mix of humor and grief while noting that the transplant angle may be guessed early.
That split captures the episode’s strengths and limits. The case is engaging less because its solution is airtight surprise than because its motive makes the investigation morally uneasy. The family material lands more consistently: Ava’s anger is not a detour from the Roman mystery but its immediate human consequence. The humor keeps the hour from becoming relentlessly bleak, though viewers looking for sustained Game Maker suspense may feel the change in pace.

Is “Eleven Minutes” worth watching?
Yes, especially for viewers invested in Morgan and Ava’s relationship. The murder plot provides a compact mystery and an unsettling motive, even if the transplant connection may be apparent before the reveal. The stronger reason to watch is the way Morgan’s attempt to protect Ava collides with Ava’s need to understand why Roman is absent. The episode advances that family conflict more decisively than it advances the season’s central suspense.
