Cipher wants to eliminate 75 percent of Godolkin’s students and leave the strongest standing. As Marie’s group learns more about Project Odessa, Polarity resists Cipher’s influence, and Marie and Cate head out together, the episode turns its mysteries into a looming fight over who gets to control Supes.
What happens in “Cooking Lessons”?
The episode picks up after Marie revives her sister, Annabeth. Once the group escapes immediate danger, they reach Stan Edgar, who explains why Project Odessa connects Marie to a much larger conflict. The information reframes the danger at Godolkin: the question is not only what Cipher is doing, but what earlier plans for powerful Supes have left behind.

Is Annabeth a supe?
Yes. The episode’s recaps identify Annabeth as having powers. Her revival by Marie is the immediate turning point that gets the group out of danger and moving toward Edgar.
What is Project Odessa, and what does it have to do with Marie and Homelander?
Edgar says Thomas Godolkin devised Project Odessa to create exceptionally powerful Supes. The project’s surviving subjects connect Marie and Homelander, making Marie’s abilities part of a larger history rather than an isolated anomaly.

#1 Best Overall
That connection does not mean Marie accepts Homelander as family in any meaningful sense. When the comparison comes up, she rejects the idea that she is like him. The episode leaves a distinction between a shared connection to Odessa and the very different identities and choices of the people tied to it.
Who is the burned-up man in the chamber?
The group connects the elderly, badly burned man kept in a hyperbaric chamber with Thomas Godolkin. Recaps note that Godolkin’s body was not recovered after the fire, which helps explain why the characters take the possibility seriously.
That identification is the group’s conclusion, not a full explanation of everything about Godolkin’s survival. Edgar believes Godolkin may have knowledge valuable to understanding control of Cipher and other Supes. The episode makes the man’s possible identity consequential while leaving the full extent of what he knows unresolved.
What is Cipher planning for Godolkin’s students?
Cipher tells Polarity that he intends to eliminate 75 percent of the student population and preserve the strongest. That figure is part of Cipher’s fictional plan as described in episode recaps, not a real-world statistic.

His plan echoes one conflict introduced through Odessa but pushes it toward a different end. Godolkin is described as seeking control of Supes; Cipher’s agenda is to cull the weaker students and advance Supe supremacy. In this episode, power means more than physical ability: it also means the ability to decide who gets to live and who is allowed to resist.

How does Polarity fight back against Cipher?
Cipher tries to control Polarity, but Polarity appears to block that influence. He unleashes a blast that sends Cipher through a window. Cipher escapes before Polarity can catch him, so the confrontation demonstrates resistance without ending the threat.
Why do Marie and Cate leave together?
Marie is ready to leave the bunker and act. Cate asks her for help, hoping Marie can heal her and help keep Cipher out of her head. Marie agrees, and the two leave together, placing Cate’s need for help alongside the group’s effort to confront the danger beyond the bunker.
What does the ending set up?
The episode brings three unresolved pressures into the closing stretch: Cipher is still at large, the group has reason to believe Godolkin may be alive, and Marie and Cate have left together with a difficult task ahead. The conflict is also ideological. Godolkin’s reported interest in controlling Supes and Cipher’s plan for Supe dominance are different visions of power, while Marie and Polarity show that power can also mean acting against coercion.
“Cooking Lessons” does not settle every mystery about Cipher’s agency or Godolkin’s condition. Instead, it gives the characters new reasons to pursue answers while making the next confrontation feel unavoidable.
