FUBAR Season 2 is worth watching for the combustible father-daughter pairing of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Monica Barbaro. They make the Netflix spy comedy feel lively even when its action does not always match the scale of its premise.
Is FUBAR Season 2 worth watching?
Yes, if you want an action comedy built around family friction as much as spy business. Schwarzenegger and Barbaro are the season’s strongest reason to tune in: Luke and Emma can trade barbs like relatives and operate as colleagues, and the contrast gives their scenes a clear comic engine. The show’s appeal is less about a tightly wound espionage puzzle than watching this family try to function while the danger keeps intruding.

The balance is part of the package. Netflix categorizes the series as comedy, action and adventure, and thriller, and the second season continues to mix those modes rather than settling into a straight spy drama. That can make the tone feel deliberately playful; viewers seeking sustained suspense or consistently inventive action may find the comedy more dependable than the set pieces.
What happens in Season 2?
The premise remains the show’s best shortcut to conflict: Luke Brunner and his daughter Emma each discover that the other secretly works for the CIA. Netflix’s official synopsis frames their high-stakes missions as colliding with awkward family dynamics. Netflix’s official title page lists two seasons and eight episodes for Season 2.
#1 Best Overall
Season 2 picks up after the family and their work team have had their covers blown. They begin together in hiding, then face another globe-trotting mission, new enemies and the usual strain of keeping family relationships intact while working in the same dangerous business. Netflix Tudum’s season guide describes that setup and the new threats.
Why Schwarzenegger and Barbaro make the season work
Luke and Emma have a convincing comic rhythm
Schwarzenegger’s familiar screen presence suits Luke’s mixture of confidence and paternal interference. Barbaro gives Emma enough bite and competence to push back rather than simply react to her father. Their scenes land because neither character has to surrender the argument: affection, exasperation and professional rivalry can all sit in the same exchange.
The comedy benefits from the family premise
The spy plot gives the pair reasons to move through dangerous situations; the family plot gives those situations a personal charge. A disagreement between Luke and Emma is not just workplace friction, and a mission complication can become an argument about trust or control. That connection keeps the comedy tied to the characters rather than making it a detached string of jokes.

What Carrie-Anne Moss adds
Carrie-Anne Moss joins as Greta Nelso, a former East German spy with a romantic history with Luke. Her presence adds a different kind of tension to the family-and-team dynamic: Luke’s past is no longer merely backstory when an old connection enters the current mission. Netflix’s cast guide also places Greta in the orbit of an antagonist pursuing a plot against the U.S. power grid; that is the series’ fictional storyline, not a claim about a real-world threat. Netflix Tudum’s cast guide provides the character details.

The season has a globe-spanning spy setup and a lead built for action-comedy, so it invites expectations of sequences that feel expansive and surprising. The action is enjoyable as part of the show’s light, comic rhythm, but it could do more to make each major set piece feel distinct and consequential. The issue is not that every scene needs to outdo the last; it is that a premise with this much room for escalation can support bolder choreography, staging and visual invention than the show consistently delivers.
Schwarzenegger described the season to Tudum as “bigger” and “better,” adding that it has “more laughs” and “more of everything.” Those are promotional remarks, not an independent measure of scale. The more useful test for a viewer is whether the action itself feels memorable enough to balance the character comedy. Here, the leads carry more of the entertainment than the spectacle does.
