Its rules prohibit requests for illegal streams, links to them, and hints that help users find them.
The practical way to find a legitimate live match is to identify the competition, your country, the date, and the broadcaster holding the rights. Availability changes by territory, and no single service legally carries every soccer match.
What “live streaming sites: r/soccer” actually means
r/soccer is a public Reddit community focused on association-football news and discussion. It has roughly 6.2 million members, with navigation links for community rules, guidance, and its wiki. It is not an official catalog of live broadcasts.
The subreddit’s current rules include an “Illegal streams and betting” rule. That rule covers more than direct URLs: requests, hints, facilitation, and promotion of betting platforms can also violate the community’s policy. A post asking for pirate links may therefore be removed and could result in moderation action.

This is separate from the former r/soccerstreams community. That community was effectively shut down after copyright complaints, with reporting in January 2019 describing the end of its soccer-stream-link operation. Old articles, copied Reddit posts, and search results can make that defunct model appear current when it is not.
Why a universal free-streaming site is a warning sign
Soccer rights are divided among leagues, competitions, broadcasters, and countries. A website claiming to provide every Premier League, MLS, Champions League, and international match for free is unlikely to be an official rights holder.

| What you encounter | What it usually indicates |
|---|---|
| “Every match, all leagues, no subscription” | The service may not have the rights it claims to have. |
| A link works for a few days, then vanishes | Unofficial domains are often blocked, removed, or replaced. |
| Several fake play buttons or forced notifications | A high-risk advertising or redirect environment rather than a normal broadcaster. |
| A stream is unavailable in your country | Regional rights or geoblocking may apply. |
| A service shows a league but not a particular match | The match may be exclusive elsewhere, simulcast on another network, or available only as a replay or highlight. |
Research into illicit live-streaming domains has found extensive tracking and third-party requests. Pop-ups, automatic redirects, suspicious browser notifications, and fake download prompts are not merely annoying: they are reasons to leave the page rather than repeatedly trying alternative buttons.

| Competition | Current U.S. source | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Premier League | Peacock, with some matches also simulcast on NBC | Peacock says certain matches stream live in the app and on PeacockTV.com; it does not mean every fixture is exclusive to Peacock. |
| MLS | Apple TV | Beginning with the 2026 season, MLS matches and related programming are included with an Apple TV subscription. The separate MLS Season Pass ended after the 2025 season. |
| LALIGA and Bundesliga | ESPN | ESPN advertises all LALIGA fixtures and more than 300 Bundesliga matches, alongside other soccer competitions. |
| UEFA Champions League | Paramount+ | Paramount+ advertises live Champions League coverage, including the 2026–27 competition. |
“Free” can mean different things. A match may be available through an existing TV package, a network simulcast, a promotional offer, or a subscription you already pay for. It does not automatically mean that an unofficial site has permission to retransmit it. Confirm the price, device support, blackout terms, and live-versus-replay status on the official service.
How to find a match without relying on a Reddit link
- Write down the exact fixture. Include both teams, the competition, and kickoff date and time. A club can appear in multiple competitions with different broadcasters.
- Check your country first. Search the competition’s official website or the broadcaster’s regional schedule. U.S. rights do not apply automatically in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, or elsewhere.
- Compare the provider’s live listing. Look for wording such as “live,” “simulcast,” “replay,” or “highlights.” Do not assume that a page advertising a league carries every match.
- Use the provider’s official app or domain. Install from the Apple App Store, Google Play, or the platform’s verified website rather than from a pop-up download prompt.
- Check the broadcast shortly before kickoff. Schedules can change, and rights holders sometimes update which channel or service carries a fixture.
What r/soccer can still be useful for
The community can help with football context: team news, match discussion, competition schedules, and reactions during a game. If asking where a match is available, keep the question focused on legal availability and include your country. Do not ask for “working links,” mirror sites, or coded hints to unauthorized broadcasts.

Also treat user-generated posts and wiki pages as user-generated. A page using Reddit’s name is not necessarily endorsed by Reddit or r/soccer, and a rotating list of streaming domains is not evidence that the services are licensed. For a reliable answer, the rights holder’s schedule is more authoritative than an old post or search snippet.

- Confirm that you are signed into the correct account and that your subscription includes live coverage.
- Check whether the match is listed as a simulcast on another channel or platform.
- Verify the event’s start time and whether the page is showing a replay rather than a live feed.
- Turn off suspicious browser extensions or notification permissions, then reopen the official app or site.
- If the service reports a regional restriction, consult the broadcaster’s local rights information. Do not use an unknown mirror as a workaround.

Where can I watch soccer legally in the United States?
It depends on the competition. Current examples include Peacock and NBC for selected Premier League coverage, Apple TV for MLS from the 2026 season, ESPN for LALIGA and Bundesliga coverage, and Paramount+ for UEFA Champions League coverage.
Why can a streaming service show a league but not my match?
Rights may be split between exclusive matches, simulcasts, replays, and highlights. Regional restrictions and schedule changes can also affect availability.
Are Reddit posts listing free soccer streams trustworthy?
Not necessarily. They may be unaffiliated, outdated, or linked to unauthorized services. Pop-ups, redirects, fake play buttons, and forced notifications are strong warning signs. Check the official broadcaster’s schedule instead.
The Bottom Line
r/soccer is not a live-streaming service or official soccer directory. Its rules prohibit illegal stream requests and links, while the old r/soccerstreams model is no longer a current source of broadcasts. To watch legally, identify the competition, match, country, and date, then verify the rights holder’s official schedule. A supposedly free site promising every match is more likely to create security, privacy, and reliability problems than provide a legitimate broadcast.
