Freddie Prinze Jr. and Monica Potter star together in The Girl in the Pool, a 2024 thriller built around a deadly secret and a family birthday party. Its trailer introduces Tom, who finds his mistress dead in his family’s pool and tries to hide the body just as his wife’s surprise celebration begins.
What is The Girl in the Pool about?
The trailer sets up a pressure-cooker domestic-crime premise: Tom discovers his mistress’s body in the pool at home, conceals it, then faces the arrival of family and guests for a surprise birthday party arranged by his wife. The suspense comes from the collision between the secret and the gathering; the trailer synopsis does not establish how the story ends.
The distributor, Rialto Distribution, describes the same setup on its film page.

Who made The Girl in the Pool?
Dakota Gorman directed the film, and Jackson Reid Williams wrote it. The trailer description also credits producers Eric Brenner, German Michael Torres, RJ Collins, and Larry Greenberg. IGN Movie Trailers published the official trailer on June 25, 2024, naming Prinze Jr., Potter, Gray, Haugh, and Pollak.
In a ComingSoon interview published July 25, 2024, Prinze Jr. described the film’s use of flashbacks: “Those flashbacks weren’t scripted that way.
