Film producer Steve Bing died in Los Angeles on June 22, 2020, at age 55. The Los Angeles Times reported that county coroner’s spokeswoman Sarah Ardalani said an autopsy found “multiple blunt trauma injuries” and determined the manner of death was suicide. Those are separate forensic categories: the first describes the reported cause; the second describes the manner.
What the coroner’s spokeswoman reported
In its report published June 22, 2020, and updated June 23, the Los Angeles Times attributed the autopsy determination to Sarah Ardalani, then a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County coroner. The reported medical cause was “multiple blunt trauma injuries”; the reported manner was suicide. The distinction matters: cause identifies the injuries associated with death, while manner classifies how the death occurred.

What the public record sources establish
The county’s current agency is the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner. It says it determines the circumstances, manner and cause of deaths within its jurisdiction. Its case-search FAQ notes that the database covers Medical Examiner cases only and that some records may be temporarily unavailable. The reported finding above is attributed to a county spokeswoman through the newspaper; it is not presented here as a review of Bing’s individual case file.
Who Steve Bing was
Bing was an American film and television producer and writer. The Television Academy lists credits including Get Carter, The Polar Express and Kangaroo Jack. Those credits identify his career, but the sources reporting the forensic determination do not establish a motive or a personal or medical explanation for his death.
