Apple announced tickets for selected IMAX screenings of F1 The Movie on August 6, 2025, with the first shows scheduled for August 8. That sale is historical—not a current ticket offer. Apple planned a wider international rollout from August 15, 2025, and the film later had another U.S. IMAX run in January 2026. The next F1-related IMAX event announced for 2026 is a live race screening, not the movie.
When were tickets for the IMAX re-release on sale?
Apple Original Films announced the re-release on August 6, 2025, saying tickets were then on sale for selected theaters and showtimes. The first selected IMAX screenings were scheduled to begin Friday, August 8. Apple said the release was planned to expand into more IMAX locations and other large formats worldwide beginning August 15, 2025. Those dates describe the 2025 release plan, not an active ticket sale. Apple’s August 6, 2025 announcement

Additional IMAX screenings
Warner Bros. Japan listed an additional IMAX re-release in selected Aeon Cinema theaters from September 12 through 18, 2025. Separately, IMAX Corporation said the film returned to 50 U.S. IMAX screens beginning January 30, 2026, in connection with its Best Picture nomination. These were distinct runs in different places and at different times. Warner Bros. Japan’s official film site · IMAX’s February 19, 2026 announcement
How to check for a current movie screening
To find out whether the film is playing near you now, check the local theater’s own schedule or its ticketing page. Search for the film title and confirm the date, venue, format, and that the listing is for the movie. The 2025 announcement does not establish current showtimes or ticket prices.

What makes the IMAX presentation different?
IMAX describes F1 The Movie as “Filmed for IMAX,” with every frame presented in its 1.90:1 expanded aspect ratio. IMAX also says the film was captured using strategically positioned IMAX-certified digital cameras, enhanced frame by frame with its Digital Media Remastering (DMR) technology, and given a custom sound mix for IMAX theaters. These are IMAX’s descriptions of the presentation; they do not guarantee that every theater or screening offers identical availability or presentation. IMAX’s film page
Is the October 2026 IMAX event a screening of the movie?
No. IMAX and Apple TV announced a separate program for five live 2026 Formula 1 Grands Prix at at least 50 selected U.S. IMAX locations. As of October 8, 2026, the remaining announced event is the United States Grand Prix in Austin on October 25. It is a live sports screening, not a re-release of F1 The Movie. Check IMAX or a local participating theater for venue details and ticket availability. IMAX’s announcement of the live F1 program
