How many times did Kendrick perform “Not Like Us”?
Lamar performed “Not Like Us” repeatedly in the finale, with restarts that made a single count difficult to define. Pitchfork counted five performances in full or in part. The Associated Press described four full performances and two restarts after the first verse. Why did Lamar bring everyone onstage at the end?
After the final song, Lamar invited a large group onto the stage. He said the gathering was no longer about a song or the back-and-forth records, but about bringing people together. In the Associated Press’s report, Lamar said, “This … ain’t got nothing to do with no song at this point, ain’t got nothing to do with no back and forth records, it’s got everything to do with this moment right here. That unity message is Lamar’s stated purpose for the group moment; it does not erase the concert’s conspicuous place in the Drake feud. The ending held both ideas at once: a high-profile performance of diss material and a public gathering that Lamar framed around Los Angeles solidarity.
