Destination D23 2025 brought film previews, park news and fan-event updates to Walt Disney World. Pixar previewed Toy Story 5, but two other films in the original headline need a timeline distinction: the cited Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement came from a March 2025 livestream, and D23 published its first look at The Mandalorian and Grogu after Destination D23.
What was Destination D23 2025?
Destination D23: A Journey Around the Worlds of Disney ran August 29–31, 2025, at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World Resort. D23 described the weekend as featuring more than 25 presentations across Saturday and Sunday; that is the organizer’s event-scale description, not an independently audited count. Its September 2 recap covered studio news alongside Disney Experiences, Imagineering and D23 programming, rather than providing a transcript of every session.

Were Avengers: Doomsday or The Mandalorian and Grogu announced at Destination D23?
Avengers: Doomsday: no—the cited cast news was earlier
D23’s March 26, 2025 report covered Marvel’s multi-hour global livestream, which announced production and cast details for Avengers: Doomsday. It named the Russo brothers as directors and Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom. That announcement preceded Destination D23 and should not be counted among the event’s reveals. D23’s March report listed May 1, 2026 as the film’s theatrical opening date; that is the date reported at the time, not a statement of its current release status.
The Mandalorian and Grogu: the first look came afterward
D23 published a first-look article on September 23, 2025, after Destination D23. It described Din Djarin and Grogu helping the New Republic against scattered Imperial warlords and gave the film a May 22, 2026 theatrical date. The post-event article is related franchise news, not evidence that the film was announced at Destination D23.
