At least 87 television series left the air during 2024, including shows that were canceled and shows that reached a planned conclusion. The list below uses the most useful cutoff: a series is included only when its final episode or released installment aired or streamed between January 1 and December 31, 2024.
That means a cancellation announcement alone is not enough. The Boys, Outer Banks, Big Mouth, The Handmaid’s Tale and Good Omens were announced as ending or receiving final seasons, but their actual conclusions were scheduled for a later year and are not included here.
The Acolyte is included because its first-season finale streamed in July. Disney+ announced its cancellation in August, after the season had already concluded.

Important 2024 cancellations that belong on this list
Several high-profile cancellations were announced during the year. Their inclusion above depends on when their last episodes were released, not simply on the date of the announcement.
Quantum Leap: NBC canceled it in April, after the second-season finale had aired on February 20.
NCIS: Hawai’i: CBS canceled the series before its May 6 finale.
So Help Me Todd and CSI: Vegas: both ended after CBS cancellations, with their final episodes airing in May.
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, Walker and My Lady Jane: all had their final released installments in June, despite differing cancellation and renewal histories.
That ’90s Show and KAOS: Netflix canceled both after their 2024 seasons had been released.
All American: Homecoming: The CW’s cancellation brought the series to its September 30 ending.
Not every show in the calendar is a conventional scripted cancellation. The list also includes competition, reality, animation, talk and documentary-style programming such as Wicked Tuna, Last One Standing and The Talk. “Ended” describes the release window; it does not imply that every series was canceled in the same way.
Shows announced as ending in 2024 but not finished in 2024
TVLine’s year-end accounting identified at least 87 series, with 88 dated departures listed in its calendar. The total can vary depending on whether specials, reality programs, international series and separate installments are counted.
What is the difference between a show canceled in 2024 and a show ending in 2024?
A cancellation is a network or platform decision not to order more episodes. An ending is based on the date of the final released episode. A show can be canceled after its finale has aired, or canceled before its last episodes are released.
Was The Acolyte canceled in 2024?
Yes. Disney+ canceled The Acolyte in August 2024, after the first-season finale had streamed on July 16. It therefore qualifies as a series that ended in 2024.
No. Both had future final seasons announced, but neither had released its concluding season by the end of 2024. They belong on a later-year ending list, not this one.
The Bottom Line
The 2024 television calendar included long-running network dramas, short-lived streaming originals, animated series, reality programs and several planned finales. The key dividing line is the release date: only shows whose final episode or installment arrived during 2024 are included here. Announcements for future final seasons are kept separate.
