They are not all “cursed techniques” in the strict sense. The distinction matters: Yuji’s delayed-impact punches and Black Flash, for example, are not separate innate techniques.
What counts as a cursed technique?
A cursed technique is not a catch-all term for every way a jujutsu sorcerer fights. Yuji’s arsenal is easier to understand when divided into four categories: physical traits, combat applications of cursed energy, a phenomenon that can occur during a strike, and named techniques he gains or awakens. Having access to a technique also does not mean Yuji has the same experience or range of uses as a more practiced user.
| Ability | What it is | Place in Yuji’s story |
|---|---|---|
| Physical prowess and cursed-energy reinforcement | A physical foundation and a way of strengthening combat, not a named innate technique | Present from early in the manga |
| Divergent Fist | A distinctive application of cursed energy that makes a strike’s impact arrive in two stages | An early signature move |
| Black Flash | A rare cursed-energy phenomenon that Yuji can land, not a technique unique to him | Appears repeatedly, including in the late story |
| Blood Manipulation | A named technique Yuji gains access to later | Late-manga development |
| Shrine | A named technique associated with Sukuna that Yuji awakens later | Late-manga development |
| Reverse cursed technique, Simple Domain, and domain expansion | Separate advanced jujutsu abilities, not interchangeable names for one technique | Appear in the late story |
The manga’s final volume, volume 30, is described by Shueisha as featuring Yuji deploying a domain in the concluding fight. Shueisha’s volume 29 description also highlights Yuji’s late-story Black Flash-related awakening. Those publisher descriptions confirm milestones, but do not supply a full technical explanation of either ability.
Yuji’s early fighting style
Physical ability and cursed-energy reinforcement
Yuji’s physical prowess is a foundation of his combat style, not a cursed technique. He can fight effectively at close range, and cursed-energy reinforcement adds another layer to his attacks and defense. The manga does not make a numerical performance rating necessary to understand the distinction: physical ability is not the same thing as a technique.

Divergent Fist
Divergent Fist is an early signature application of Yuji’s cursed energy. Its distinctive effect is a delayed second impact: his physical strike lands, then the cursed energy follows. That timing can disrupt an opponent, but it does not make Divergent Fist a separate innate technique. It is better understood as a way Yuji applies cursed energy to a punch.
Black Flash
Black Flash is a phenomenon that can occur when cursed energy connects with a physical blow at an exceptionally precise moment. Yuji has a notable ability to land it, but it is not exclusive to him and should not be listed as his personal innate technique. Shueisha’s description of volume 29 presents a late-story Black Flash as a moment when Yuji releases latent potential; the catalog description does not establish a hit count or explain the full mechanics.
Black Flash and Divergent Fist are therefore different kinds of combat event: one is a delayed-energy application associated with Yuji’s early style, while the other is an intermittent phenomenon he can trigger in battle.

Can Yuji use Blood Manipulation?
Yes. Yuji gains access to Blood Manipulation later in the manga. Its connection to the Death Paintings is part of how the story explains that development. A secondary reference identifies Convergence as an application Yuji uses, but that should not be mistaken for proof that he can reproduce every Blood Manipulation technique or match the mastery of other users.
The useful distinction is between access and proficiency: Yuji adds Blood Manipulation to his arsenal, but the story does not make every technique available to an established user automatically part of his demonstrated repertoire.
Does Yuji have Sukuna’s technique?
Yuji awakens Shrine, a technique associated with Sukuna. That gives Yuji access to Shrine; it does not mean he has Sukuna’s complete arsenal, experience, or level of control. Treating the two characters’ uses as identical erases an important difference between possessing a technique and mastering it.
Shrine’s late-story appearance should also be kept separate from Yuji’s earlier punches and Black Flash. It is a named technique, whereas those earlier abilities describe a combat application and a phenomenon, respectively.

Does Yuji use reverse cursed technique, Simple Domain, and domain expansion?
Reverse cursed technique
Yuji uses reverse cursed technique in the late manga. It is a distinct advanced jujutsu ability, not another name for Blood Manipulation or Shrine. Its presence in his late-story arsenal should not be read as evidence that he has the same proficiency as every experienced user.
Simple Domain
Simple Domain is another separate ability in Yuji’s late-story toolkit. It is a defensive domain-related skill; it is not Yuji’s own domain expansion and should not be conflated with Shrine.
Domain expansion
Yuji deploys a domain in the concluding fight, a milestone noted in Shueisha’s description of volume 30, the manga’s final volume. The publisher’s listing does not name Yuji’s domain or explain its sure-hit effect. The manga’s domain is therefore best identified by what is established—Yuji deploys it—rather than assigned an unsupported name or a more detailed rule.
Which of Yuji’s abilities are techniques?
For a clean inventory, separate the labels instead of calling every attack a technique:
- Physical foundation: Yuji’s physical ability.
- Cursed-energy combat application: Divergent Fist and reinforcement.
- Phenomenon: Black Flash.
- Named techniques: Blood Manipulation and Shrine.
- Other advanced jujutsu abilities: Reverse cursed technique, Simple Domain, and domain expansion.
The official anime character page establishes Yuji’s place in the franchise, while VIZ’s official season-one guide is an early-series companion, not a guide to his complete manga arsenal. The late developments covered here belong to the full-manga account; this article does not claim that every one has appeared in the anime.
