No. A 2002 email signed “Love, Melania” shows correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell, but it does not establish that Melania Trump was one of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims or that Epstein recruited her. The viral interpretation goes beyond what the email says.
What does Melania Trump’s email to Ghislaine Maxwell say?
The short note begins “Dear G!” and ends “Love, Melania.” It compliments the recipient on an article about “JE,” asks how Palm Beach was, says the writer cannot wait to go down, and asks for a call when the recipient is back in New York. The Associated Press reported these details from the released email and said the sender and recipient fields in the posted copy were blacked out. The Justice Department’s Epstein Library is the official portal for released records; its contents may change.

Melania Trump later confirmed that she had replied to Maxwell and described the message as casual correspondence. That confirmation is separate from the document’s visible text: the redacted fields do not identify the sender or recipient on their own.
Does the email prove Melania was one of Epstein’s “girls”?
No. The message documents correspondence, but it does not say Melania was victimized, recruited by Epstein, or involved in his crimes. Its sign-off is not proof of an intimate relationship, and a person’s name or correspondence in a records collection does not, by itself, establish criminal conduct. The Justice Department’s DOJ Disclosures page provides access to released materials; appearance in such records is not itself evidence of wrongdoing.

What did Melania Trump say about Epstein and Maxwell?
On April 9, 2026, Melania Trump denied being friends with Epstein or Maxwell. She said they moved in overlapping social circles in New York and Florida and characterized her reply to Maxwell as a trivial note. Those are her statements, not independent findings about the extent of the social connections.
“The lies linking me with the disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today.”
She also said: “My polite reply to her email doesn’t amount to anything more than a trivial note.” The Associated Press reported both statements and its account of the email’s contents and redactions in its April 9, 2026 report.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the record supports—and what it does not
- Supported: The released copy contains a short message addressed “Dear G!” and signed “Love, Melania”; Melania later confirmed replying to Maxwell.
- Supported: The note refers to an article about Epstein, Palm Beach, travel, and a request for a phone call.
- Not established by this email: That Melania was an Epstein victim, was recruited by him, or participated in his crimes.
The distinction matters: a document can establish that a message was written while leaving broader claims about a person’s role or experience unproven. The email is evidence of correspondence, not proof that Melania Trump was one of Epstein’s “girls.”
