Neither—not as of the season 5 finale. Emily and Marcello are broken up, and although Gabriel sends her a postcard inviting her to Greece, the show does not reveal whether she accepts. It ends on a romantic cliffhanger, not a confirmed reunion.
What happens to Emily and Marcello?
Emily and Marcello get another chance after Marcello leaves his family’s company and starts a fashion house with Nicolas. But their relationship ends again before the season is over. Netflix’s season 5 finale explainer describes their romance as one that ultimately does not work out.
The rupture began over a campaign for the Muratori family business: Marcello had been negotiating a possible sale without telling Emily. Their later reconnection does not change the finale’s outcome. Emily is single at the end of the season.
Does Gabriel and Emily get back together?
No reconciliation is shown. Gabriel has taken a private-chef job on a yacht and is in Greece when Sylvie tells him Emily is single. He writes Emily a postcard inviting her to join him, but the finale does not show her answer. Netflix says her response “remains to be seen.”

Creator Darren Star says, “I think the door’s always open between those two.” Lily Collins, who plays Emily, says, “I don’t know what the future holds for Gabriel and Emily,” and describes their goodbye as “gracefully, without knowing what comes next.” Those comments leave a reunion possible; they do not confirm that Emily chooses Gabriel.

Will season 6 resolve the cliffhanger?
Netflix announced that season 6 will be the series’ final season. Its announcement says Emily realizes her heart yearns for the home she built in Paris, but it does not identify her eventual partner. The romantic question therefore remains unresolved at the end of season 5.
