The Atlanta Falcons visited the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 8:15 p.m. ET. ESPN carried the national broadcast, with local simulcasts on 6abc in Philadelphia and WUPA in Atlanta. At the time, viewers in those markets could watch free over the air with a compatible antenna; streaming trials were conditional, and NFL+ had device and location limits.
Game details and broadcast
The Week 2, 2024 NFL game was played at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Kickoff was scheduled for 8:15 p.m. Eastern, or 7:15 p.m. Central, 6:15 p.m. Mountain and 5:15 p.m. Pacific. ESPN aired the national U.S. broadcast. Joe Buck and Troy Aikman called the game, with Lisa Salters reporting. The local simulcast was on 6abc in the Philadelphia market and WUPA/Atlanta 69 in the Atlanta market; ESPN Deportes carried the Spanish-language broadcast. See the Eagles’ broadcast listing and the Falcons’ viewing guide.
Was there a genuinely free way to watch?
Use an antenna in the local market
For viewers able to receive the local signal, an antenna was the clearest no-subscription option: 6abc in the Philadelphia market or WUPA in the Atlanta market. The broadcast itself did not require an ESPN login, but “free” here means free to watch after buying or owning the antenna. Reception depends on address, terrain, building materials, antenna placement and signal strength. An antenna does not unlock ESPN nationally or provide an internet stream.
- Check whether your address is in the Philadelphia or Atlanta market and whether the relevant station reaches it. Use the NFL’s location-based viewing tool rather than assuming your market gets the same station.
- Connect the antenna to your television and run its channel scan.
- If the station does not appear, try a higher spot or a location near a window, then scan again.
- If reception remains unreliable, use a service carrying ESPN instead.
Availability of a local ABC affiliate through a streaming provider is not guaranteed by the fact that the provider carries ESPN; local lineups vary by ZIP code.

Try a live-TV service only if its offer fits
Fubo, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV and DIRECTV STREAM were among the services viewers could consider for ESPN access. A free trial was never a guaranteed or permanent feature: eligibility, duration, payment requirements, channel lineup and billing terms could vary. Fubo promoted a trial around this particular 2024 game, as its event guide showed at the time; that historical promotion should not be treated as available now.
For any trial, verify that the selected plan carries ESPN in your ZIP code, check the end date and post-trial charge, and confirm how cancellation works before signing up. A trial may require a payment method and convert automatically to a paid plan. These services do not provide a free stream merely because they sometimes offer a trial.

ESPN app, ESPN+ and NFL+: what each meant
ESPN and the ESPN app
The game aired on ESPN. A viewer with an eligible cable or live-TV subscription could generally select the event in the ESPN app and authenticate with the TV provider when prompted. An ESPN account by itself was not necessarily enough. The Falcons’ official guide listed the ESPN app as a viewing route. Device and regional availability can differ.
ESPN+ is not the ESPN television network
ESPN’s 2024 game guide listed the matchup with ESPN and ESPN+ in its schedule information, but that is not a blanket promise that every ESPN+ subscriber can stream every Monday Night Football broadcast. Rights and access depend on the event and product. Check the specific game listing in the ESPN app before relying on an ESPN+-only subscription; authenticated access to ESPN through a TV provider was the safer general route for U.S. viewers.

NFL+ had limits
The team guides listed NFL+ as an option, but it was not a universal replacement for ESPN on every television or for every out-of-market viewer. NFL+ live-game access depended on location and device rules, with local and primetime games particularly relevant on supported mobile devices. Check the applicable tier and location details in the NFL+ viewing information before counting on it.
Options for out-of-market and international viewers
Outside Philadelphia and Atlanta in the United States
For other U.S. markets, ESPN through a pay-TV provider or a live-TV streaming plan carrying ESPN was the usual route. NFL+ could apply under its location and device rules, but should not be assumed to deliver a television stream to every viewer. NFL Sunday Ticket was generally not the right purchase for this Monday-night game: it is primarily for out-of-market Sunday afternoon games.

Outside the United States
The Falcons’ official guide identified DAZN for international viewers, but NFL rights and availability vary by country. Check the rights holder and game listing for your country rather than assuming DAZN carried it everywhere.

The game was also available through local and national radio options. The Falcons’ listing named 92.9 The Game, Westwood One, La Mejor and SiriusXM. Radio was a legitimate play-by-play alternative, not a video stream; access depended on the station, app and any applicable subscription.

Watching now: replays and archives
Because the game took place in 2024, live-stream trials and the original local broadcast are not current viewing options. ESPN’s game page is a place to check for replay availability; access can depend on current rights and subscription. Official highlights or archived coverage may also be available, but availability can change. Do not subscribe to a live-TV package solely on the assumption that it includes this historical game.
A site advertising an unrestricted “free NFL stream” is not a legitimate substitute. Unauthorized streams can expose viewers to malicious pop-ups, fake player or payment prompts, privacy risks and unreliable playback, as well as copyright infringement. A VPN does not grant viewing rights and can trigger service terms or location errors.
