Dune: Prophecy follows an earlier Sisterhood on its path to becoming the Bene Gesserit. Emily Watson and Olivia Williams play its central Harkonnen sisters, Valya and Tula. HBO places the story 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’ ascension.
Who plays the central Harkonnen sisters?
The series centers on two Harkonnen sisters whose work helps establish the order that will become the Bene Gesserit. HBO describes the Sisterhood as working in the shadows before it becomes the fabled order; the story is not set in the era of the fully formed Bene Gesserit familiar from Paul Atreides’ time.
| Actor | Character | Connection |
|---|---|---|
| Emily Watson | Mother Superior Valya Harkonnen | One of the two central Harkonnen sisters |
| Olivia Williams | Reverend Mother Tula Harkonnen | Valya’s sister and the other central Harkonnen figure |
HBO’s season-one logline places the story 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’ ascension. That is the series’ stated fictional timeline, not a real-world historical date.
