Correction: Dune (2021) was available to stream free with ads in Canada through CTV for a short promotional window in March 2024. The offer ran from March 7 through March 11, 2024, and is no longer active.
If you are looking for the film now, do not rely on older instructions pointing to the CTV website or app. Bell Media has since moved CTV’s on-demand content into Crave, and there is no verified current CTV page or “Watch free” option for Dune.

What the CTV promotion actually offered
The promotion covered Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, the 2021 adaptation of Frank Herbert’s science-fiction novel. CTV made the film available at no charge, but it was supported by advertising. Viewers in Canada could watch through the CTV website or the CTV mobile app during the promotional period.
| Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Film | Dune (2021) |
| Country | Canada |
| Price | Free with advertising |
| Reported start | March 7, 2024 |
| End date | March 11, 2024 |
| Original platforms | CTV website and CTV mobile app |
This was a limited-time programming promotion, not a permanent addition to a free streaming catalogue. Once March 11 passed, the CTV listing could no longer be treated as an active way to watch the film.

Why older streaming instructions are misleading
Search results and social posts may still describe Dune as “free on CTV.” That wording refers to the March 2024 promotion. It does not describe the current availability of the movie.
CTV’s standalone website and apps were scheduled for sunset on May 1, 2026, as Bell Media consolidated CTV and Noovo on-demand programming in Crave. That means instructions such as “open the CTV app, search for Dune, and select Watch free” are not current viewing directions. There is no verified CTV menu path, active title page, or free-play button for this film today.

Where the film was listed after the promotion
A later Canadian availability check found Dune through digital rental or purchase services, including the Apple TV Store and CosmoGO. That is different from the CTV offer: renting or buying the movie requires payment, while the 2024 CTV stream was free but included advertisements.
Availability can change by service and date, so viewers should check the provider’s Canadian listing before paying. A listing for the 2021 film should not be confused with Dune: Part Two, which is a separate movie.

What the movie is about
Villeneuve’s film follows Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet, after his family is assigned control of Arrakis, the desert planet that produces the valuable substance known as spice. The transfer is a political trap: House Atreides faces betrayal while Paul begins to experience visions connected to Arrakis and its people.
The film stars Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Stellan Skarsgård and Charlotte Rampling. It adapts roughly the first half of Herbert’s novel, so it ends before the full story is resolved. Dune: Part Two continues the narrative.

How to interpret the old headline
- Read it as a dated promotion. The accurate time frame is March 7–11, 2024.
- Do not expect the CTV link to work. The original promotional article and its former CTV links are no longer reliable current destinations.
- Check the Canadian listing before watching. Current availability may show a rental or purchase option rather than a free stream.
- Confirm the year. Look specifically for Dune (2021), not the 1984 film or Dune: Part Two.
In short, the headline was accurate only during a five-day Canadian promotion. It should not be presented as a current free-streaming deal.

Can I still watch Dune for free on the CTV website or app?
There is no verified current CTV free-streaming option for the film. CTV’s on-demand content was later consolidated into Crave, so older CTV instructions are outdated.
Where can Canadians watch Dune now?
The film has been listed for digital rental or purchase through services such as the Apple TV Store and CosmoGO. Check the current Canadian listing because availability and prices can change.
Is this the same film as Dune: Part Two?
No. This article concerns Denis Villeneuve’s 2021 film, which begins Paul Atreides’ story. Dune: Part Two is its sequel.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Dune (2021) was free with ads on CTV in Canada from March 7 to March 11, 2024. That promotion has ended, and the CTV website and app should not be presented as current ways to stream the movie for free.
