The list is not a lifetime audience chart: Netflix calculates views by dividing total hours watched by a title’s runtime, then compares viewing during the first 91 days after release.
That distinction matters. A short limited series can rank above a much longer drama by views, while the longer drama may lead in total hours watched. Netflix also counts seasons separately, so this is a ranking of individual seasons and limited series rather than complete franchises.
The 10 most-watched Netflix shows
The figures below come from Netflix’s global, all-time “Most Popular Shows” list. The ranking is based on views, not hours watched.

1. Wednesday: Season 1
Netflix’s clear leader recorded 252.1 million views in its opening 91-day period—more than 100 million ahead of the second-ranked entry. Its 6-hour-49-minute runtime helped it convert viewing time into a particularly large view total. The series’ mix of gothic mystery, supernatural storytelling and dark comedy also gave Netflix a major international breakout.

2. Adolescence: Limited Series
At 142.6 million views, this four-part drama sits just above Stranger Things 4 in the views table. Its short 3-hour-50-minute runtime is essential context: Netflix’s view metric rewards completed viewing of a shorter title more efficiently than a raw-hours comparison would. The series generated 546.5 million hours watched.
3. Stranger Things 4
The fourth season has 140.7 million views, but it leads the entire table in hours watched with 1.838 billion. Its 13-hour-4-minute runtime is almost three times that of Adolescence. This is the strongest example of why “most watched” can mean two different things depending on the metric used.
4. Stranger Things 5
The fifth season follows with 133.8 million views and 1.3913 billion hours watched. Netflix lists it separately from the fourth season, as it does every season in this ranking. Its 10-hour-24-minute runtime is shorter than season four’s, helping explain the difference in total hours.

5. Wednesday: Season 2
The second Wednesday entry reached 119.3 million views and 928.5 million hours watched. It does not approach season one’s 252.1 million-view debut, but it still occupies the fifth position globally. The two seasons should not be combined when comparing them with other Netflix entries.

6. DAHMER: Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story
This true-crime limited series is the highest-ranking entry centered on a real criminal case. It recorded 115.6 million views and 1.0311 billion hours watched across its 8-hour-55-minute runtime. Its position also demonstrates the broad range of Netflix’s list: the ranking includes scripted fantasy, historical drama, mystery and dramatized true crime rather than documentaries alone.
7. Bridgerton: Season 1
The first season of Bridgerton generated 113.3 million views and 929.3 million hours watched. With a runtime of 8 hours and 12 minutes, it sits close to Wednesday: Season 2 in total hours despite having fewer views.

8. The Queen’s Gambit: Limited Series
The Queen’s Gambit remains one of Netflix’s biggest limited-series successes, with 112.8 million views in its first 91 days. Its 6-hour-37-minute runtime produced 746.4 million hours watched. The story’s self-contained structure makes it a useful comparison with longer multi-season dramas: Netflix counts the complete limited series as one entry.
9. I Will Find You: Limited Series
This limited series recorded 106.7 million views and 585.1 million hours watched, placing it ninth. Its runtime is 5 hours and 29 minutes, the shortest among the entries in this top 10 apart from Adolescence. That shorter duration helps explain why it has fewer total hours than several titles below it by view count.

10. Bridgerton: Season 3
The third season of Bridgerton closes the ranking at 106 million views. It accumulated 846.5 million hours watched over 7 hours and 59 minutes. Netflix’s table therefore includes two seasons of Bridgerton, just as it includes two seasons each of Wednesday and Stranger Things.

How Netflix calculates the ranking
- Measurement window: Netflix looks at the first 91 days after a title’s release.
- View calculation: total hours watched are divided by the title’s runtime.
- Ranking metric: entries are ordered by views, while hours watched and runtime are shown as supporting figures.
- Separate entries: each season is treated independently; limited series appear as individual titles.
Netflix changed its most-popular methodology in June 2023. Earlier lists used a 28-day measurement window, so older articles cannot be compared directly with this current 91-day ranking. “All time” describes the pool of titles being compared, not unlimited viewing accumulated over a show’s entire life on the service.

The difference between Adolescence and Stranger Things 4 shows how the system works. Adolescence ranks second with 142.6 million views, while Stranger Things 4 ranks third with 140.7 million. Yet the fourth season of Stranger Things has nearly 1.3 billion more hours watched because its runtime is 13 hours and 4 minutes.
So the list should be read as a ranking of Netflix’s reported view-equivalents, not a claim that every title held viewers’ attention for the same amount of time or that the top entry accumulated the most total minutes.

Netflix’s page is updated as newer releases complete their 91-day measurement periods. A future release can therefore displace an existing title, and older published versions of this article may show a different top 10. Availability can also vary by region, even though this ranking is global.
