ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires begins a deliberate shift toward a new central duo: Victor and Nova. Meg Donnelly, who plays Addison, described their parallels with Zed and Addison as “passing the torch in a way.” Disney’s announced story for ZOMBIES 5 backs up that shift by putting Nova and Victor at the center—but it does not confirm that Zed and Addison are leaving the franchise.
Does Zombies 4 set up replacements for Zed and Addison?
It sets up a handoff in story focus, not a confirmed permanent replacement. The first three films followed Zed and Addison as they helped bring humans and monsters together in Seabrook. The fourth film introduces Victor and Nova as new leads, placing them at the center of a different divide: the one between Daywalkers and Vampires.
In a July 10, 2025 D23 interview, Donnelly said the parallels between the pairs were intentional: “There are a lot of parallels with Victor and Nova, and that’s what makes this movie so special. It’s like we’re passing the torch in a way.” Her comment supports reading the fourth film as a transition to a younger pair of leads, rather than as proof that the original characters are gone.
What does Zombies 4’s ending set up?
The ending points toward another supernatural threat, but Disney’s official materials do not give a detailed, scene-by-scene explanation of its final image. The sequel announcement provides the clearest confirmed follow-up: mermaids arrive in Rayburn, seeking allies with a “persuasive siren song.” Their arrival tests the new peace between Daywalkers and Vampires.

What has Disney confirmed about Zombies 5?
Disney announced on March 2, 2026 that a fifth film had been greenlit for Disney+ and Disney Channel. The announced premise makes Nova and Victor the characters who must unite the groups and discover what the mermaids want. Disney said production would begin in spring 2026 in New Zealand; the announcement did not give a premiere date and said the official title would be announced later.

The March 2 announcement names Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly as executive producers, but does not list them among the acting cast. That confirms their producer roles, not whether they will appear on screen. The announcement alone cannot establish either that Zed and Addison will return or that they will be absent.
