Yes—but only watch hours that YouTube counts as qualified public watch time can help with YouTube Partner Program (YPP) eligibility. A 24/7 broadcast is not a shortcut or guarantee: YouTube excludes livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to video on demand (VOD). Keep the stream public and its replay available, then check your qualified public watch hours in YouTube Studio’s Earn area.
When livestream watch hours can count
YouTube describes qualified watch hours for the standard long-form eligibility route as hours from long-form videos set to public. For livestreams, archive status matters too: YouTube lists streams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD among the watch hours that do not count toward YPP thresholds. A public replay that remains available is therefore important if you want the broadcast’s viewing time to contribute. Check visibility and replay status
- Set the livestream’s visibility to public.
- After it ends, confirm that YouTube has converted the broadcast into a replay/VOD and that the replay remains public.
- Do not delete or make the replay unlisted if you are relying on its hours for YPP progress.
What a 24/7 stream does not guarantee
Streaming continuously does not create a special eligibility rule. YouTube’s published guidance does not say that broadcasting for 24 hours, choosing a particular bitrate, or reaching a particular number of concurrent viewers makes the hours eligible. Duration alone is not enough; the stream and its viewing time must meet YouTube’s applicable criteria.
Also, not all watch time contributes to the long-form watch-hour threshold. YouTube excludes watch hours from ad campaigns and Shorts views in the Shorts Feed, in addition to the livestream visibility and archive cases above. A large total watch-time figure in general analytics is not necessarily the same as qualified public watch hours for YPP progress.

How to check the right YPP progress figure
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Earn area.
- Review the qualified public watch hours shown there for YPP eligibility. Do not treat total watch time in Analytics as interchangeable with that figure.
- If a replay or its hours are missing, first check whether the replay is public and available as a VOD. YouTube does not promise that every individual stream will qualify, so use the Earn figure as the eligibility progress indicator.
Current YPP thresholds and review
As described on YouTube’s eligibility page accessed in 2026, the standard route to Watch Page ads and YouTube Premium revenue requires 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months. The alternative Shorts route is 1,000 subscribers and 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days; it is not a watch-hour route. YouTube also describes lower thresholds for some features, with separate requirements depending on the monetization feature. These figures are current page guidance, not a promise of acceptance. The eligibility page displays a notice that updates begin February 1, 2027, so check the live page for any changes that have taken effect before relying on a threshold. Watch-hour eligibility is not the same as earning revenue
Reaching an eligibility threshold is one step, not the activation of every revenue feature. For Watch Page ad and YouTube Premium revenue, eligible partners must accept the Watch Page Monetization Module.
