On October 29, 2025, Samsung announced that Disney+ had begun delivering more than 1,000 Hulu titles in HDR10+, initially on compatible Samsung TVs and select Smart Monitors. The rollout is not a universal HDR10+ switch for every Disney+ device or every Disney-owned title: it is a Samsung-first launch centered on Hulu programming available through Disney+.
What actually changed
Samsung says the Disney+ app now carries over 1,000 Hulu titles mastered and delivered in HDR10+ on supported Samsung hardware, with additional Disney+ and Hulu programming planned. The launch announcement does not establish that the entire Disney+ catalog, all Disney+ originals, or every Hulu program is available in the format. “Over 1,000” is a launch figure, not a permanent, region-free title list; streaming rights and format availability can change.
The titles are Hulu programming surfaced through the Hulu experience inside Disney+, rather than a blanket conversion of Disney+ video. Samsung’s announcement is the primary source for the launch date, count and hardware details: Samsung’s October 29, 2025 announcement.
Who can watch it?
You need all of the following: an eligible Hulu entitlement, a supported Samsung display, the Disney+ app running on that display, and a title with an HDR10+ master available in your market.

Hulu access inside Disney+
In the United States, Disney says Hulu viewing in Disney+ requires an eligible Hulu, Hulu Premium, bundle, or directly billed Hulu + Live TV subscription. A standalone Disney+ account does not automatically unlock the Hulu catalog. Most of Hulu’s on-demand library is available in Disney+, but Hulu Live TV-only programming and Hulu add-on content are not currently included. Some programs remain available only in the Hulu app. See Disney’s Hulu-in-Disney+ help page.
Supported Samsung hardware
Samsung identifies Crystal UHD TVs and higher-tier models from 2018 onward, plus select Samsung Smart Monitors. The announcement names families including Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K, OLED, The Frame Pro, The Frame, QLED and Micro RGB models. “2018 onward” is not a guarantee for every Samsung-branded screen: exact model, regional variant, firmware and app support matter.
Samsung was the first platform named for this rollout. The available evidence does not confirm the same HDR10+ Hulu catalog on Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, PlayStation, Xbox, LG televisions, Sony televisions or other external players. A device may support generic HDR or Dolby Vision without supporting this specific HDR10+ stream. Disney’s quality guidance likewise says 4K and HDR behavior varies by device model and plan: Disney+ video-quality guidance.
Does HDR10+ require Disney+ Premium?
There is no verified blanket rule that HDR10+ is exclusive to Disney+ Premium. Disney’s U.S. pricing page describes both the ad-supported Disney+ plan and Disney+ Premium as supporting up to 4K UHD and HDR, subject to device, title and plan qualifications. The page listed $11.99 per month for Disney+ with ads, $18.99 per month or $189.99 per year for Disney+ Premium, and $10.99 per month for a Disney+ and Hulu Premium bundle when those prices were shown. Prices and plan structures are volatile, so check Disney’s current pricing page before subscribing. The relevant question is whether your plan includes the Hulu title and whether your device is eligible, not simply whether it carries the Premium name.
What HDR10+ changes in the picture
HDR10 is the baseline HDR format and uses static metadata: one set of instructions applies to the whole movie or episode. HDR10+ adds dynamic metadata, allowing tone-mapping instructions to change scene by scene (and, where authored that way, frame by frame). The goal is to preserve highlight and shadow detail as brightness changes. HDR10+ Technologies describes the format and its metadata system.
| Format | Metadata | What it does not guarantee |
|---|---|---|
| HDR10 | Static | It does not ensure identical results on every display. |
| HDR10+ | Dynamic, scene-by-scene or frame-by-frame | It cannot turn SDR into HDR, add resolution, or overcome a dim or poorly calibrated television. |
| Dolby Vision | Dynamic, with a separate licensed ecosystem | It is not automatically better or worse than HDR10+; the master and display implementation matter. |
Brightness, contrast, local dimming or pixel-level control, reflections, calibration and streaming bitrate can affect the result as much as the logo. Buy a display for its complete picture performance and the HDR formats used by your other services, not for this announcement alone.

How to check whether HDR10+ is playing
- Find the exact Samsung model number and confirm that it falls within Samsung’s supported Crystal UHD-or-above or select-monitor wording.
- Install available TV firmware updates and update or reinstall Disney+.
- Open Disney+ directly on the Samsung TV or monitor, rather than routing playback through an external box.
- Choose a Hulu on-demand title carrying an HDR10+ label in the title details. Labels and menus vary by model and app revision.
- During playback, open the television’s picture-information overlay, if available, and look for HDR10+ rather than only generic HDR or HDR10.
- Confirm that the signed-in MyDisney account is linked to the Hulu entitlement that includes the title.
A badge alone may not prove the active signal; device overlays and the title’s availability are both model- and region-dependent.
What is excluded
- Hulu Live TV-only channels and programming are not currently available through Disney+.
- Hulu add-on content is not currently available through Disney+.
- Some Hulu programs remain exclusive to the Hulu app.
- Titles without an HDR10+ master will play in another available format, such as HDR10, Dolby Vision or SDR.
- Unsupported televisions, monitors, streaming boxes and game consoles should not be assumed to receive HDR10+ merely because the Disney+ app displays an HDR label.
- Disney+ originals and other Disney-owned programs are not established as universally HDR10+ by this launch.
Download availability also depends on plan level and service rules; see Disney’s profile and Hulu-availability guidance.
Troubleshooting: the TV shows HDR but not HDR10+
- Recheck the exact model and regional variant against Samsung’s support information.
- Update the television firmware and Disney+ app.
- Sign out and back in with the MyDisney account connected to Hulu.
- Try another known HDR10+ Hulu title; the first title may have only an HDR10 master or may be unavailable in your market.
- Use the built-in Samsung Disney+ app instead of an external player that may not pass HDR10+.
- Verify that the program is ordinary Hulu on-demand content, not Live TV or an add-on.
- If HDR10+ still does not appear, treat it as unavailable on that device rather than changing picture controls at random.
If HDR looks worse
Dynamic metadata cannot compensate for limited HDR brightness, poor contrast, reflections or incorrect settings. Try the TV’s Movie, Filmmaker or equivalent accurate mode, disable unnecessary dynamic-contrast processing, and compare the same scene rather than judging a title card or badge. HDR10+ is not guaranteed to look better in every room or on every panel.
Should you buy a Samsung TV for this?
Usually, no. Existing owners of an eligible Samsung TV should check the built-in app before considering new hardware. If you are shopping for a display anyway, HDR10+ support is a useful tie-breaker, but weigh peak brightness, contrast, viewing angle, reflections, motion handling, operating system, warranty and price first. Buyers who prioritize Dolby Vision or rely on another TV platform may reasonably choose a different ecosystem.
Samsung’s official TV range is at Samsung U.S. TVs. An external Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV or console may improve app convenience, but it is not a sound purchase specifically for this HDR10+ launch unless the exact device is confirmed to pass the format.
The practical verdict
This is a meaningful format upgrade for subscribers who already have a qualifying Samsung display and Hulu access: more than 1,000 Hulu titles can use scene-aware HDR metadata through Disney+. It is not a universal Disney+ HDR10+ catalog, not proof that every Samsung TV from 2018 works, and not a reason by itself to buy a new television or upgrade to Premium. Check the model, entitlement, title badge and playback signal before spending money.
