Disney channels are back on YouTube TV: Disney and YouTube announced a new multi-year agreement on November 14, 2025, ending a blackout that began after their previous deal expired on October 30. The separate question of whether Disney movies and shows can be bought or rented through YouTube remains unresolved in the available official updates. The channel dispute affected YouTube TV; it was not the same as losing access to every Disney title on YouTube.
What disappeared—and what returned?
When the distribution agreement expired on October 30, 2025, Disney programming went dark on YouTube TV. Affected channels included ABC, ESPN networks, Disney-branded channels, Freeform, FX and National Geographic; The Associated Press also listed SEC Network and ACC Network. No official source cited here provides a verified total count of affected channels. The Associated Press reported that the blackout lasted more than two weeks.

On November 14, Disney and YouTube announced a multi-year agreement and said programming was returning. Disney said its full network and station suite, including ESPN and ABC, had begun coming back. YouTube said ABC, ESPN, FX and other channels, as well as previously saved recordings, would return over the course of the day. That announcement ended the reported YouTube TV blackout; it does not establish the current status of every channel, recording or other YouTube product.
YouTube had said on October 30 that Disney had suspended its content on YouTube TV. Its statement offered a $20 credit if the content remained unavailable for an extended period. That was a contingent offer, not a statement that every subscriber automatically received a credit. YouTube’s updates describe the proposed credit and the November agreement.

Why did Disney channels disappear from YouTube TV?
The companies gave competing accounts of the failed negotiations; neither account is an independent finding about what caused the dispute.
- YouTube’s account: YouTube said Disney proposed costly terms that could raise customer prices and reduce choice. In its October 23 statement, it said it would remove Disney content if the companies did not reach an agreement.
- Disney’s account: Disney said YouTube TV refused to pay fair rates for its channels and sought preferential terms. A Disney spokesperson made that claim in a statement on October 31. Disney’s statement also presented the company’s case for the value of its programming.
Disney’s October 31 statement cited several audience and programming figures in support of its position. Disney said its networks’ viewership in YouTube TV households was up more than 15% year over year, citing Nielsen and a comparison of gross minutes viewed dating back to 2020. It also said ABC’s sports and live-event programming had increased nearly 80% over several years and that ABC aired nine of the top 10 broadcast college football games on YouTube TV so far in the 2025 season, citing Nielsen. These are figures Disney reported, not independently verified findings here.

Are ESPN and ABC back on YouTube TV?
Yes. The November 14, 2025 agreement announcement said ABC and ESPN were returning to YouTube TV, along with the rest of Disney’s network and station suite. YouTube also said saved recordings were returning. The companies announced that ESPN Unlimited would be available to YouTube TV subscribers at no additional cost, with selected live and on-demand programming accessible inside YouTube TV. Disney also described genre-specific packages and an option to include the Disney+, Hulu bundle in select YouTube offerings. These are provisions described in the agreement announcement, not a complete statement of current plan availability or terms. Disney’s November 14 announcement outlines the agreement.
Did YouTube remove Disney movies?
A separate YouTube support notice said Disney movies and shows would no longer be available for purchase or rental on YouTube during the expired agreement. That concerns YouTube’s storefront, not YouTube TV’s live channel lineup. YouTube’s support notice explains the purchase-and-rental restriction. The available updates do not confirm whether or when Disney titles returned to the storefront, so their current purchase or rental availability cannot be established from these announcements.

Can you watch Disney content without YouTube TV?
During the blackout, Disney and The Associated Press named other pay-TV and live-TV providers as alternatives, including DirecTV, Fios, Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, Spectrum and Xfinity. Those were options identified during the 2025 dispute, not a guarantee of current Disney-channel carriage. Check whether a provider carries the channels you need in your local market, its total monthly cost including add-ons, and its cancellation and contract terms before switching.
If you only need your local ABC broadcast station, an indoor HDTV antenna may receive it over the air where reception permits. It does not provide ESPN, Disney cable networks, a YouTube TV DVR library or the full Disney channel lineup.
